I’ve been very impressed with the LAUNCH X431 PRO3 V+ Elite. I was looking for a professional-level scan tool with bidirectional controls and J2534 capability without spending thousands of dollars, and this has been a great choice. The full-system scans are quick, the interface is easy to navigate, and the bidirectional controls are extremely useful when diagnosing problems. I also really like the topology view because it gives you a clear picture of the modules in the vehicle and makes communication issues much easier to identify. The SmartLink C was a big reason I chose this model. Having J2534 pass-thru capability gives me the option of using OEM software for programming when needed. Support for CAN FD and DoIP also makes it feel much more future-proof than some of the less expensive scanners. The 10.1-inch tablet has a nice display, feels well built, and the software has a huge amount of functionality. There is definitely a learning curve with some of the advanced features, and certain functions depend on the vehicle, but that’s expected with any professional diagnostic tool. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the purchase. For an advanced DIYer or someone who works on a variety of vehicles and wants capabilities beyond a typical scanner, the PRO3 V+ Elite offers a lot for the money. What would make this bundle more complete would be the OBD 1 connectors Highly recommended.

My old Honda SUV couldn't start last Friday. Random misfire codes everywhere. Shops quoting 180+ just to plug in. I decided to buy this Lauch X431 PRO3 V+ Elite for myself. Hooked it up, the topology map instantly showed #4 injector circuit dead. This is really easy and accurate to use. Bi-directional test: commanded the injector, silence. Swapped the pigtail connector in two minutes, misfire jumped cylinders. I only use $18 with this machine. It fired up and no longer throws parts at it. On the same day, I finally cleared the nagging service light, did a proper throttle relearn after cleaning and bled the ABS when the pedal went soft, all one-click with clear guides. 10.1 screen works well even in the sunlight. The rubber armor already survived a 4-foot drop, battery easily lasts a full day... The engine has never run smoother before. Paid for itself on the first repair. If you wrench on your own car, just buy it.

I’m not sure where to start, but the X431 PRO3 V+ Elite is an awesome scan tool for the price. I really like the build quality. Starting with the blow molded case in come in to the high quality foam used to protect the scan tool. I’m also a fan of the thick rubber casing used on the tablet which takes away any fear I have of damaging it if it gets dropped. I have tested this scan tool on my truck which is a 2024 GMC canyon with low exceptions of support as I have found in the past with other scan tools they lack which is comes to new model years, but I was very wrong when it comes to the PRO3 V+ Elite. I had no issues when it came to connecting to my truck with lots of options for bi-directional controls and service resets. I’m also a fan of the topography which can help in which diag. I also like the fact that this scan tool comes with a J-Box, especially for the price it is hard to find other scan tools that offer the scan functionality as the PRO3 V+ Elite. One thing that also took me by surprise was the fact that the VCI is in fact a touch screen with options of its own. The other major benefit I see when purchasing this scan tool is the ability to expand it as launch offers various add-ons such as an oscilloscope, sensor box, TPMS tool, and even ADAS calibration. To get these functions with other brands you will be looking at $4000+ at the minimum. I also like the EV support that this scan tool has to offer, with EV’s becoming a big part of the automotive industry its nice to know that this scan tool is somewhat future proofed and I have the ability to purchase additional hardware and software. I also like the fact that launch has added a feedback button so if you notice any issues such as poor translation or errors in guided functions you can report them and have it corrected for all the users. The only thing I wish was included with the scan tool is a screen protector, although this is not that big of an issue as they can be purchased online. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and all my exceptions have been exceeded. I would highly recommend this scan tool to any professional looking to get most value and versatility for your money, but also for the hobbyist looking for a powerful scan tool.

Purchased x431 scanner a few years ago from what is likely this company (same customer service number) only to have it bricked a few months ago by them remotely logging in without my knowledge and removing all of my software because I refused to pay for a software update that made the scanner work even worse. During the first two years it worked great! Then the scanner would fail to work after the two year free software update period and they would hold me “hostage” until I paid for an update. Otherwise the scanner would not even function to do what it had done prior. Be careful after the two year period because it may or may not work for you and of course you will be out of the normal merchant chargeback period. Which is maybe why they’re doing free updates for two years and then forcing you to update your scanner to even use the previous software you paid for when you purchased it.

As a mechanic who works on everything from pickups to Class 8 rigs, I've been waiting for a scanner that doesn't nickel-and-dime you on heavy truck coverage. The LAUNCH X431 PRO3 V+ ELITE finally delivers. What sold me was the included heavy-duty module access - that's over $900 worth of software right out of the box. No more buying separate licenses just to talk to a transmission or engine ECU on a Freightliner or Peterbilt. I put it to the test on a 2022 International with a persistent fault code and poor drivability. The topology map was a lifesaver. Instead of chasing wires blindly, it showed me the entire network layout, color-coding the ECUs. I could see the relationship between the ABS module and the engine controller instantly. Using the bi-directional controls, I was able to command the injector solenoid test right from the scanner, confirming a sluggish response in seconds, not hours. The J2534 passthru worked flawlessly when I needed to run a proprietary calibration update, saving a trip to the dealer and a huge bill for the customer. The 10-inch Gorilla glass screen is tough and perfectly readable in the shop lights, and the battery lasts through a full day of diagnostics. For any tech working on heavy trucks, this unit eliminates the biggest headache: access. It's powerful, intuitive, and the 2-year warranty shows LAUNCH stands behind it. This is now my primary tool for HD work.

Super impressed with this one so far. I own a Euro shop and had just bought an Autel MaxiSYS906MAX thinking it would be a good upgrade from my MP808 which wasn't allowing me to write a VIN to a used mercedes ESP module installed to a customer car. The 906MAX had the same limitation in spite of it being billed as having "programming/customization" functionality (with a submenu dedicated to "Expert Coding" supposedly including Special Functions where VIN writing should be, under Manual Settings). Called several local (PDX) MB specialists to see if they could assist and got the typical handwringing about needing Vediamo or Xentry and how hard this simple procedure would be. It is not that hard at all. Autel tools (both MP808 and 906MAX) had vin deletion/module virginization capabilities without J2534 passthorugh being used, and I had done that with those tools. The thing is Autel is just playing the feature limitation game and not providing the necessary access to Manual Settings with these tools, which doesn't actually require J2534 for pre-2013ish MB ESP modules (really any module that isn't at the ECM level of the topology). Customer support said "Maxisys906MAX is not a programming tool". Oh great, thanks for that - should be front and center on your marketing and you shouldn't have a "Programming" feature on the tool. So, to the point: The Launch X431 PRO3 V+ Elite handled this simple task in about 2 minutes. It honestly took longer to activate the software by creating a login and password. Once I had that done, updated the MB software to the latest rev, connected the SmartlinkC 2.0 (VCI) to the USB port of the Benzito, navigated to RBR (regenerative braking module, aka ESP module for the S400 Hyrbid) and went to special functions, manual settings, write vin and boom. Performed drive test (make sure the VCI is disconnected or it won't calibrate the ESP sensors), took 15 seconds for the new module to learn and the job was done. So if you're wondering, "Can this tool write VINs to pre-DAS4 ESP (or whatever other) modules?" the answer was yes for me on a 2010 S400 (W221). Literally had MB specialty shops saying that it absolutely needed online authentication and unlocking via Pass-Through. Even ELITEK, which when they come out to do these kinds of things charge us $650, said they could not even do it and needs to be done at MB dealer. This was not the case. I wrote this VIN using offline diagnostics module on the PRO3, without needing to compromise anything or connect to a shady server, or do any actual programming/software flashing. Great tool, seems plenty powerful and worth the price to get this overnight through Amazon vs. a few hundred dollars less at one of the online distributors of the CN Launch line. Do beware that this is NOT supported by Launch US customer support, but is likely the same hardware that they're selling and software that they license for one of their US market tools. I'm happy and impressed with what it can do at the pricepoint so far.
