    • Works well but has a learning curve.
It's okay. It was my first time using one. You may need prior experience to work with it...slight learning curve. If it allows you to make changes to the system, haven't figured that out yet. So, not a walk in the park to use. Once you start to understand it, it works well.

My 2020 Corolla SE had a parking brake malfunction, dealer quoted me $1500 saying their master tech could not fix it without replacing everything. I fixed it in 5 minutes with this… no joke. Easily already got my money back out of the purchase.

Easy to use and saved me a $240 "diagnostics fee" at the Toyota dealership. This tool allowed me to change the settings on my daytime running lights and the interior lighting settings on my 2024 4Runner.

There is no US support for this product. When I called 'Launch US', they said it's an overseas item and they don't support or sell it. They referred me to a Chinese seller instead. I wouldn't recommend this if you are in the US.

If your Toyota needed more than a basic code reader could give, the Creader Elite X500 covers the modules a generic OBD2 scanner skips. Full system scans pulled codes from the engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag modules without me having to hunt through menus or connect a laptop. The 4 inch touchscreen is the part that surprised me most. Cheap scan tools in this size class usually have laggy resistive panels that need three taps to register one input. This one responds on the first touch and scrolls through live data lists smoothly, which matters when you are crouched under a dash trying to read a sensor value. Setup was straightforward. It connected to my home Wi-Fi, found the software updates, and downloaded them on its own with no PC software or account hoops in the way. Battery life on the 3000mAh cell held up through a long afternoon of testing, and the detachable USB cable means a damaged cable does not turn the whole unit into a paperweight. Worth understanding before buying: this is built around Toyota and Lexus. You still get standard OBD2 functions on other makes, but the full system access and bidirectional controls are where the value sits, and those are brand specific. Whenever I want a better sense of what requires care, the most common application that I have been doing is scanning the systems of the vehicle and checking the fault codes. Without making the procedure overly hard, the scanner has been able to recognise the car and allow me to enter the systems that I want to examine. Because of this, I am able to skip the time-consuming process of manually inputting information and will instead be able to get straight into the diagnostic parts. The process of reading and clearing codes has been successful for me throughout my usage. If I am attempting to decide which part of the vehicle needs more examination, the information that is presented provides me with a better starting place to begin my investigation. The fact that all of the information is gathered in one location makes troubleshooting a lot more organised, but I do not consider a code to be the solution in and of itself. One of the primary reasons I needed a more powerful scanner was because I have tested numerous diagnostic areas rather than limited myself to the engine system. I have done this. ... show more

I used the LAUNCH Creader Elite X500, on my sister’s Toyota and it worked better than I expected. The scanner connected quickly and pulled up the full system data, without any trouble. Being able to run bi-directional tests, made it easy to check actuators and sensors right there in the driveway. We cleared a few codes and performed the resets it needed, in just a few minutes. The screen is clear and the menus are straightforward, even if you are not a professional mechanic. It handled everything from engine to transmission and ABS, without missing a beat. My sister was relieved we did not have to take the car to a shop, just for a basic diagnosis. The build feels solid and the cable connections stayed secure, the whole time.
