The Lasko high velocity fan is a superior fan that we have used for years. This Lasko is a high velocity fan that gives you a strong breeze over 30 feet away. The fan is not quite ,but we use it for "white noise". The "white noise" is a pleasant steady sound to help us sleep. We use the fan almost every night for 8 hours or more and the Lasko fans in the past have lasted many years. The fans require you to install a base to the fan and this item snaps on the base and require no tools and takes about a minute or two to install. The fan is a 3 speed with remote and the unit is attractive and well built. Other Lasko fans are very quite and can be used in a baby's room ... show more

I was skeptical but blown away (pun intended) by the power of these fans. (We own three now.) I didn't expect a tower fan to put out as much volume and velocity as a traditional oscillating fan, but it is actually far better! The wind is so strong that we rarely need to set it above the lowest setting (1). Somehow, they air feels cooler than ambient air. They are slim and stylish, and the remote works perfectly. This fan is a substantial improvement over any "old school" fans I've tried, they look nicer and don't take up as much floor/closet space. Trying to keep a large, long apartment cool in the sweltering summer months is a challenge. Last year I bought one of these to help move cool air through the house after getting a new AC. It seriously moves some air, thought it can be loud on higher settings. (That never bothers me…living in a city I prefer a lot of white noise.) This summer we replaced the other AC so I wanted to get another fan to help move that cool air around, too. I found a competitor but similar fan on sale, but just got it and unboxed it and am super disappointed. It’s highest setting - 3 - is probably like what 1.5 would be on this Lasko fan. I’m really annoyed to have to deal with returning it, but will be so I can get another of these fans instead. Really shocked that other fan has way more positive reviews - those people don’t know what they are missing. ... show more

The fan is really nice. It moves all large volume of air on even the lowest setting, which is nice. I feel the fan is quite enough to leave on when sleeping. The fan has three speeds. The remote control is easy to use and keep you from getting up out of bed making adjustments to the fan regarding either with the speed or oscillation function. I live in southern Florida and had a Lasko floor fan that ran faithfully for many years, so I tried the same brand of wind tower, model 4930. Same experience, long lasting and I loved remote control, now a must! I purchased a second model 4930, but it has had a loud vibration or clatter about 50% of the time. I probably should see if it can be repaired, just a loose part, apparently — but I NEED AIR FLOW! Yes, I have a ceiling fan going, too, and central air. Southern Florida! 😊 I was a little confused by the repeated, persistent description of utility use: Garage, basement, or gym. I ordered it anyway because Amazon is great about returns on those rare occasions. It is fantastic with a little larger air flow area. It's better performance, I think, and very quiet. I think it looks sleek (though nearly identical size) and its design is a lot less cluttered and a lot more attractive. (Again, what's with that description?) I did take away a star because the remote control is junk. The buttons are as small as teensy pills and aligned in columnar fashion, so it's easy for a fingertip to mash two buttons — more irritating, the fan was VERY POORLY RESPONSIVE, took multiple efforts. In my case, since I already own two Lasko wind towers, with great relief I found that their remote controls are totally compatible! C'mon, Lasko, you've got to offer a comparable quality remote control for these two models, since they're comparably priced! What is the point of buying this tower, if the control performs woefully poorly? As far as purchasing this wind tower, perhaps you'll be satisfied with the control or the Lasko's customer service will agree to send the better remote control. Talk to Lasko customer service before placing your order? I'm documenting my dissatisfaction in this review. I'd hate to have you pass on this great tower, however. ... show more

I love a good fan noise to sleep to. As a light sleeper I will wake up to a distant car horn, birds chirping, floor creaking... this covers all of that. When reading reviews that's what I look for... someone happy with the white noise. I'm happy!! I also love that there's a clip on the remote and on the fan so that I can keep track of it. I like that it takes up WAY less floor space in the room. Because of that I bought another one for the living room. Its sleek looking and unassuming in the corner. It stays clean because of where the intake is. I can control where it points, control the osscilation. I have bought tower fans, box fans, table fans.. i've been disappointed in noise, power, longevity, cooling ability.. or all of the above in the same fan. This one is good on all fronts. For once I'm happy to say I'm glad I spent the money and pleased with a product! ... show more
