Great fan for cooling. Like all radiant heaters it's spot heat, not really for room heating

Update: It still works as advertised, but now that winter in here I'm finding out that unless you heat the whole room up, it's not going to be very comfortable just having hot air blowing along the floor. As a fan for cooling it works great, but as a heater, for the amount of power it draws, it's just not enough heat. I just ordered an oil filled design that is supposed to heat a room, not just throw out some spot heat. They seem to be more efficient because you can leave them on all the time 24/7 (they cycle on/off.) On a side note, I noticed that when I make pancakes on my cheapo but large griddle, the whole kitchen quickly gets pretty warm. I set it up in my living room and it doesn't take long to raise the room temp a few degrees. This is pretty much the same principle as those wall mounted heaters. Right off the bat, tower fans/heaters and small kids don’t mix. While it’s pretty stable, some kid is going to want to play with it, followed by yelling parents if it breaks in pieces on the floor, (it is only plastic, not metal.) I like towers over floor models because I don’t sit on the floor. I want to feel it while I’m on a couch or chair. First, the Fan mode. It’s pretty great and moves a narrow vertical beam of air right at you. 4-speeds; the 4th speed is almost too much from 5’ away, which is a good thing on a hot day. You’ll soon want to turn it down. It has an oscillating option, which I never like on fans; a steady flow of air is much better. Now the heater. I didn’t fully test this too much as it’s 82 degrees out. I just wanted to make sure it works. The heat comes out from the lower part, from 5” up to 15” from the floor. While this opposes why I wanted a tower model, it will keep your feet and legs warm. I guess they had to compromise separating the fan and heater, but it does let you run both at the same time. I used to have a smaller tower heater, and always put it in a stand so that the heat was at eye/body level when sitting. I can always put this on a stand too, (no kids). Power draw. At highest heat setting, about 13.6 amps, 1470 watts. Most homes have 15 amp breakers so you’ll probably want this on a separate circuit not shared with other gadgets. Of course, you have lower less power hungry settings, but you know how it is when you’re cold. All electric heaters are going to use a fair amount of power; there’s no “efficiency ratings” for them. All you can do is choose direct radient heat on your skin, or try to heat a whole room (obviously takes more power and a longer run time.) Radiant heat is good for sitting in one spot, watching a movie or reading, and you’re trying to keep your heating bill down. For just the fan, 44 watts to 32 Watts, high to low setting. My ceiling fan uses over twice as much power. Funny how they show a whole family gathered around it. The reality is this is more of a 1 or 2 person fan/heater, at least when it’s really cold (excuse to snuggle up) or really hot (quit hogging the fan.)

Blows COOL & HOT BEAUTIFULLY

I put it in my bathroom and the toilet paper is waving in it's wind. Far cry from the faint whisper of the little Asperion that croaked. Breeze starts from 21 inches above the floor and ends at 38 from the floor. Flow can be felt directly at over 8ft. Yayee. HOT is fast and it's fan really pushes warmth outward. Heat exits from a panel at the bottom third of the tower. Blew my breaker so be you have sufficient amperage. What I wasn't expecting was weight, over 12lbs and assembly. PUT THE BOSSES TOGETHER!? I do declare I never heard mortise and tenon assembly called a BOSS. Well the two half floor base pieces slid together readily and screwed in with screws that are easy to manipulate even with long talons. I just don't want to assemble heaters nor fans! Put them together at the factory please. Not for a bedroom. BRIGHT LIGHTS GALORE, even when off. It's only quiet on its lowest settings. Remote Holder in back is cute. A better use of that space would have been for a better Carry Handle. Hard to carry a smooth oval tall cylinder with no grip points. There are decorative recesses but they're not finger deep. I love that buttons are big and have one distinct purpose each. Cool ones are separate from Hot ones both on the unit and on its remote. If I could I'd take a quarter star off for the remote having no backlighting, I would. One can't operate it in the dark. Once you press any of its soft buttons the current setting lights up Big at its top. F4 for fan on level 4 for example. But that doesn't help you see to alter the setting. You don't need to see its setting you want to change something when you pick up a remote. The HF setting does disappoint. It's called High Heat with Fan, It's only Low heat with fan which cools you instead of warming you. For its darned RED lights even when Off, brighter lights still front AND back when On, but a lack of backbiting on its remote, being cumbersome to carry or move and that HF feature which leaves something to be desired, I'm dropping it a star.

Best Fan I've Ever Purchased!

I love this tower fan. I live on the top floor of high-rise condo building, and it's difficult to maintain cool temps. This product more than solved my issue as it helps keep my condo's living room cool. I would recommend it any day! It's also super easy to assemble and quiet.

5 years later and still in excellent shape

Decided to review some of my old purchases today and this has been my favorite one of the last 5 years. I use it almost daily. I basically I use this the whole year round. The lowest setting on the fan just blows a light breeze that is so subtle, yet comfortable. During the winters the heater comes in handy. I've used it on max heat for several hours before. The power is great, the noise is low, and clearly it's been super durable. I totally expected this to break down by now reading some of the reviews, but this one is still going strong. One thing to note is yes, the light is extremely bright. As you can see, I've taped over it multiple times to keep the brightness to a minimum. The remote still works fine with the tape on it.

Great Fan/Heater - Major Flaws

Let me just get to the Pros and Cons of this heater: Pro: 1. Awesome heater and fan 2. Whisper, whisper quiet and that's a biggy for me 3. The height directs the temperature when you can feel it while in bed or in a chair 4. Come with a remote 5 Ultra thin and heater and fan in one unit. Cons: (and these are MAJOR FLAWS with the design) 1. The unit and the remote have no lighted controls so you can't see how to operate in the dark 2. The unit has a line of blue lights across the top that is lite when the fan is on, as well as the function mode being lite. At night, it "literally" lights up the entire room. I have to keep a baseball cap over the top of the unit to dull the lights but they are so sharp that they still show thru the cap. Many people have a major issue with blue and red lights on electronics and they can't sleep with just one....DO NOT BUY if you are one of them. This will drive you insane. 3. The design of the controls is insane. Both the unit and the remote have totally flat controls, so in the dark, you can't see the controls and you can't feel the control, so you have to turn on a light to turn the unit on, off, or just to change the mode. Major flaw. No one obviously tested this unit in the dark....insanely stupid design. 4. You can't use the remote at night while you sleep because of this design and on top of that, they put the controls on the remote in an entirely different order than they used on the unit, so you can't even try to remember where the controls might be to try pushing controls in the dark. Because I use this unit more at night when I sleep I had to try to find a work-around for the remote. To at least know where the on/off switch is on the remote, I taped a small piece of a toothpick on top of the remote so I could at least feel for it in the dark. However, there is a power button for both the heater and the fan, and because the controls are reversed from where they are on the unit, I keep pushing the wrong button at night and trying to find the right mode is so impossible, I invariably have to get up and turn on a light to find what I need. So, although I love the results of this fan/heater, I'm frustrated with it almost everytime I use it. What idiot didn't test it in the dark. Regular buttons like on a normal remote would have at least helped it they weren't going to backlite it somehow. The remote works good in the daytime..even across the room, so at least that part helps. Again...if you are sensitive to light at night, DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT....as it literally will light up your room! For the design flaws, I could only give it a 3 star. It could have been a GREAT unit, if not for these reasons.

This product isn’t worth it.

This “heater” has a bizarre design in many ways. The whole stack isn’t a heater, only the bottom of the stack is a little heater so if you’re expecting this whole tower to put out heat, you’re going to be disappointed, it doesn’t put out anymore heat than a smaller tower heater that lasko makes. The fan controls aren’t lit at all so if you want to adjust this at night, you’re going in blind. It beeps SO LOUD when you adjust it for who knows what reason. There are obnoxiously bright leds on the FRONT of the unit show you all night long right in your face what fan setting you’re on. Lasko makes zero consideration for any users using their products at home. Blaring noises that wake everyone else up along with blaring bright LEDs that mean nothing keeping you up. You get the choice of being blinded by bright red leds if you use the really weak heater or bright blue blind leds if you use the fan. They are so bright they will light up your bedroom. This fan does auto shut off but there seems to be an issue with the thermostat and our room gets blaring hot. We have decided this unit is completely overpriced and is just a glorified tower fan with a little heater on the bottom. If you need both, great, but if you’re like me and you were expecting a huge heater, you’ll be disappointed. The heater is weak compared to the size of the unit. Wouldn’t recommend this product. It’s a really careless use of LEDs, sounds and heater design to fool the customer into something is higher end than it should be. As I’m typing this, the blue LEDs are blinding me out my left eye. I have it on fan setting 2, so that means 2 blinding LEDs that were on all night and made my bedroom bright blue. No way to turn them off.
