  • Awesome Laser
I have been asked to provide a fair and honest review of the SPS-G as part of the LaserMax consumer Insights Feedback Group. LaserMax furnished the product at no cost for the purpose of the review. First off this laser is not going to get beat up on its way to you. The packaging is real rugged and looks like a mini display case, I thought it was nicely done. I mounted this to my 3rd Generation Glock G23. I was interested to see how this would hold a zero on the .40 S&W (this is covered below). Installation- This was as easy as can be, the rail holder that keeps the placement on the actual rail was very nice. I figure this feature will keep this laser in one spot for the heaviest recoiling applications. Sighting in- Both windage and elevation adjustments are a huge plus so there is no guesswork once you have it sighted in. I chose a 7 yard sight in as this will be for my home defense weapon. Sighting in took only a few shots, and once it was there I went through approximately 100 rounds with no change in point of impact vs point of aim. Features- The laser has 2 settings, a pulse and a steady. The pulse really catches your eye and I’m sure would catch the eye of whoever had the unfortunate circumstance of being on the receiving end. The steady beam was nice as well, however I think the pulsing beam is where I will keep mine set at. It also has an automatic off feature that if it sits idle for 10 minutes it will turn off. Very nice feature if you holster your weapon and inadvertently turn the laser on to make sure you have battery life when you need it most. Usage- The paddle style on/off is so easy to use it’s a wonder all lasers are not like this. You can turn on and off the SPS-G with a heavy gloved hand if that were the application, unlike other lasers that might require some thumbnail to get under a small switch or a pen/excessive pressure for a small button if you have large fingers. Brightness- When I originally sighted this in it was about 4:30PM with the sun at my back and not a cloud in the sky. That should say something about the level of brightness. I went back and shot another 50 rounds around dusk and that beam was as bright as can be. I also tried it around the house to see how it shows up in an indoor environment and you could not ask for a better, more visible aim point. Very bright, very easy to be seen, very easy to point, very easy to keep on target. Warranty- Not that I ever foresee a reason to use LaserMax’s warranty but this is covered for a full 5 years, 2 years longer than other manufactures. Bottom line, the SPS-G in my experience is a great product and if you ever wanted a laser on a compact or sub compact handgun with a rail this should be the one. ... show more

  • Great laser for an AR
Ok, this is a great laser. Yes, I know all the pictures of it show it being mounted on a handgun but what seems like a little known secret is that a lot of handgun lasers from quality companies can also be mounted on the AR-15 platform rifles up to 5.56/.223 and will work fine, For example, the Lasermax Spartan I have mounted on two of my AR's (M-4 16 inch barrel) and each one has over 6,000 rounds on them now and the Spartans have not failed once and the zero I set up on them when mounted has not budged one little bit. Its small, its light. I use a parallel zero for the lasers and I have it mounted on the upper receivers so the laser is at the 12 o'clock position on the weapon, they sit behind the Sig Sauer Romeo MSR reddot with its skeltonized mount and the laser beam has a clear shot through the mount and is easy to activate. I have a couple of the crimson trace railmaster CM-206's on two other AR's and they need a zero touch up every few hundred rounds (but it is still a fine laser). the biggest down side to the smaller handgun lasers like the Lasermax Spartan is battery life. Even if you get one that's rechargeable its still going to go dead and need to be recharged. But, that's kinda ok because laser sights are not suppose to be the main targeting system on any weapon, they are supplemental. The Spartan is no different. If you are in such a situation that your laser sight is still on long enough to go dead then its probably because you are critically wounded or dead and unable to turn it off because most engagements last only maybe up to several seconds. ... show more

  • A great sight for the price.
It took me about a minute and a half tops to get it installed on my Beretta Px4 Storm, was easy to align using the boresight laser I purchased with it, and is extremely light. The aiming point is clearly visible on almost any background, even in broad daylight (this is the main reason I went with the green model instead of the red one). Overall, it fulfills the intended purpose (quick target acquisition) very well without getting in the way. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I've not had issues with the paddles being over sensitive, it's not turned on unless I wanted it to, and the switch itself has a very positive tactile response when it triggers. The only issues I've had are that the elevation and windage alignment controls are a few degrees off-axis, which made aligning it correctly a bit of a lengthier process than I would have liked (although this isn't as much of an issue with a laser sight, they are designed to be set once when you install it, and then checked infrequently), and that the lens was a bit dirty when I unboxed it (the beam was a bit more diffused than I would like. ... show more

  • Works great!
Directions were easy to follow with the hardest part trying to figure out the best location on the rail to be functional without sticking out too much from the trigger guard

  • Low Profile Laser!!
Bought as a gift for a friend's Keltec Sub 2000. The battery took some effort to properly install. Overall, great product for a great price!

  • Very Pleased!
I placed this on the side of a Sig MPX. Installation on the rail was a bit challenging because of the unit being taken apart to install however not hard with a little patience. Easy to adjust in as adjusters click in increments. Trigger is very easy to turn on installed near where my thumb rests naturally. The switch has no positive click as one may expect, simply brushing either side of switch will turn it on or off. Light is crisp and easy to see without being to bright as some cheaper units are. If this unit lasts the 5 year warrantee it will be money well spent. I am very happy with this purchase. ... show more
