This is a pretty average entry-level IPL device. You can find a huge number of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal devices on Amazon. Options started as a trickle, then came a deluge of different models, colors, and shapes. But the secret is that almost all of these are the same inside and are made in a handful of factories. With a few notable exceptions, the features are the same, the controls are the same, etc. So mostly, it comes down to a few limited, differentiating factors: ** Does the IPL offer "ICE" active cooling ** Does the IPL offer additional filters/modes for different effects ** Does the IPL offer unusual and useful ergonomic features ** What kind of power does the IPL use (higher power should translate into better performance). Power levels are typically in the range of 18W-60W. Higher is better. This IPL offers only very basic operation and, offers only moderate power for this class of device (36W). On the plus side, it's the more convenient gun shape (which I prefer to oblong-shaped units). Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal. ** NO ICE skin cooling functionality ** Moderate watt IPL (36W) ** LCD screen shows number of flashes left and power level (1-5) ** Gun shaped unit ** No attachments to change the flash end shape ** Rated for about 999,999 flashes, 5 power levels. Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a snapshot of the light (see photos). But the light duration is extremely short. You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power cord, a pair of eye protection glasses, a cheap disposable razor, plus instructions. This tool is rated for about 999,999 flashes. This IPL device is a mid-priced IPL device on Amazon. Although it only offers IPL hair removal functionality, for many, that will be enough. It seems to work, though the moderate-sized power supply is a drawback. I have used a few times, pretty easy to use for me there is no pain or discomfort using it. The directions are pretty easy to follow as far as function, use and how often you use it. It will come with a color chart that you hold up to your skin to find the strength setting. It comes with the device, power cord, glasses to where while you are operating the device, instructions, a skin and hair chart to set the power level, it also comes with a disposable razor. There are three buttons one is the trigger, the other two are on the back one is the power button the second is the power selection. It has a fan that turns on once you hit the power button, it does get warm at the light but the fan does a good job of keeping cool to not burn your skin. It has a handle which for me makes it easier to hold. I haven't used it long enough to see it will take care of the area I am working on. Over all I would recommend if you're looking for a hair removal item. Very easy to use, for me no pain or discomfort,the area I am doing is the bikini area and each treatment takes about 10 minutes or less so it's pretty quick. ... show more

The IPL laser hair removal came in a nice box, making it giftable. It came with a protective glasses and a razor. The machine itself need to be plugged in for it to turn on…I guess for safety reasons so you can’t just casually turn it on. After a few test, the machine is quite easy to operate and doesn’t hurt. The light is very bright so it’s good that they included the safety sunglasses. Overall, it’s easy to use and works well on my chin area, but I couldn’t get the laser to effectively remove some of the thicker hair on my legs so I deducted a star. ... show more

This one is basic entry level at a low level cost It has the standard basic stats that most do at this point which are 1M flash levels, 2 modes and 5 energy levels. Better than the cylinder-shaped ones, the gun-shaped ones are easier to hold. It does have 12J power it claims. Cons =LCD is bare minimum, there are better ones =There are no filters =There is no cooling which is a more popular new feature =no skin rejuvenation (debatable) =only 36w (the lowest I see) Based on the price it's a decent standard unremarkable unit. This is such an easy device to use. The handset itself reminds me of an old school radar detector, but that's a good thing. It's very easy to hold and because of the shape of the handle it's incredibly easy to orient the device, even when you're working on areas you can't see. (It's called indexing, and this device is designed with that in mind.) It has 5 power levels that correlate to your skin tone as well as the color of the hair you're wanting to remove. I'm a level 3-4 and I find that it's warm, but not too hot. You can set it for individual pulses controlled by the trigger for small areas or continuous timed pulses for larger areas. It's meant to be used multiple times a week (3-5) in the beginning and scales down gradually over time, as you see the results. Once your ideal level of removal is achieved you can move onto a maintenance schedule that's literally "as needed". The set comes with a fairly comprehensive instruction book, power cord, IPL unit, protective eye glasses, and a skin color/hair color chart that has a usage schedule on the opposite side. This is a great introduction to at home IPL, but would also be suitable for at home maintenance if salon procedures as well. It's easy to use and embraces the simplicity of 3 control button activation. You don't need to purchase addition things to use with this, such as gel, replacement heads, etc. It comes nicely boxed and would make a nice gift. I'm reading this as the introductory model that it is and giving it 5 stars. There are plenty of more powerful and more expensive machines on the market, but this is a great all around model for people who are new to IPL or those just long to maintain preexisting removal procedures. ... show more
