It is my 2nd month using this product and it has started working since the first time I tried it. As a Male I have a lot of strong hair follicles and every time I shaved I would always get so much ingrown hair and irritation. In addition, my skin is extremely sensitive which made waxing impossible. That being said, I have used this product on my legs for three sessions now, and about 60% of my leg hair is gone. Right now it is in a weird phase as there are “patches” of skin without any hair and then patches with skin with hair. So I have noticed it works patch by patch. That means that I still need a few more sessions until everything looks smooth (which is what the manual says too). In the beginning I got a bit of acne and irritation, but with each session the irritation (as in acne from shaving - follicular acne) has decreased. The same story goes for my arms, in the beginning I got a bit more follicular acne compared to just from shaving, but with the adequate aftercare and ongoing sessions more than half of my arm hair gone, and whatever is there now it is very light and not as strong as my hair follicles used to be. I have also used in my chest, and the same story goes for there too. In parts of my legs where my skin is less sensitive there has been no irritation. So if you have sensitive skin like me I think after care is very important, and this product seems to suit both sensitive and normal skin types! Pleasantly surprised and impressed with the quality and results. Was quite nervous as I have only gone to the salon in the past for laser hair removal, and it was pretty painful and expensive. Wan't sure how an at home device would do - but overall, the results have been very impressive. I have used for 2 sessions now and my lip looks great - I do struggle a bit with being precise with the machine since you are not supposed to go over the same area twice, but where I have hit has been very effective. A few more sessions might get rid of the hair altogether, which is money very well spent. It is saving me so much money and pain. It has worked great on the armpit and bikini line as well - I think a few more sessions is all I will need with maybe some maintenance. It hasnt worked quite as quickly in those areas, but I do see a reduction in hair and I have no ingrown, which is so nice! It was pretty easy to use - the videos they provide are incredibly helpful. I was very nervouse so followed everything exactly - including waiting 24 hours after testing. I do have the ideal skin and hair color for the device so I didnt have any trouble with the machine working for me as well. I do know that can impact efficacy. ... show more

Don’t buy. Used unit sent directly from manufacturer without proper cleaning process. I got one unit from Amazon, with new unopened box, but when I open it, the inner box appeared to have short black hairs, like someone’s razor shed. I contacted Amazon customer service instead of directly return it, since I opened the sealed box. They told me to contact Philips customer service since they own the inventory, and I largely don’t need to return the unit and they will send me a replacement. So I did. Philips requested me to send it back before replacement, asked my legal name and a lot of things. OK fine. I answered the question and sent it back and they ordered me a replacement. Couple days later, I got a more obvious open-box unit with blond and black hair. I called Philips, they said someone from the US would call me in 24-48 hours. No one. They sent me an email a week after asking the same tedious questions and requested me to send the unit back. While at this moment I have already contacted Amazon and sent the unit back to Amazon. Facing my accusations, Philips customer service said “ Following a detailed evaluation of the original unit you reported and returned, our investigation determined that the material found on the product was identified as black thread on the bottom of the beauty case, and we found no evidence indicating that the product had been previously used. Additionally, Philips does not provide refurbished or used products as replacement units. All replacement products processed through our warranty claim process are new and are subject to the same quality standards as our original products. Nevertheless, we fully recognize that our findings differ from your observations, and we respect your perspective. While we stand behind the results of our investigation, we also understand that your confidence in the product is paramount. Our goal is not only to provide quality products but also to ensure that our customers feel valued, heard, and supported throughout their experience with Philips.” Wow. Unbelievable. I’ve been using the Philips Lumea IPL for about a month, and I’m already seeing a noticeable reduction in hair growth. The device is lightweight, comfortable to hold, and very easy to use, which makes the treatments quick and convenient. The biggest improvement has been in the bikini area, where shaving used to be a constant struggle and often left my skin irritated. Now the hair grows back much more slowly, and the irritation has been greatly reduced. I’ve also noticed a big difference under my arms—I used to shave every day, but now I only need to every four days or so, which is a huge improvement. I have fair skin and mostly dark hair, although I also have some lighter and reddish hairs. Since most of my hair is dark, the device seems to work really well for me. So far I’m very happy with the results and will definitely continue using it. I highly recommend it! ... show more

I've been using this device consistently for about six months, and I can honestly say it's been worth every penny. As a woman with very stubborn chin hair, a mustache, and dark body hair, I was skeptical at first, but consistency really is the key. One thing that really proved it worked was when my daughter was hospitalized for 16 days. Before that, I had been using the device regularly, and during our entire hospital stay I didn't have to pluck my chin hairs or remove my mustache at all. That alone sold me. The only downside I've experienced is that it doesn't work well on areas where my skin is too dark. I have olive skin and black body hair, and some areas of my underarms and inner thighs wouldn't allow the device to flash. It has a light indicator (white or red) that lets you know if it's safe to use on that area. For anyone wondering about the settings, I used level 4 or 5 from the beginning because I wanted the fastest results. I skipped levels 1 through 3 entirely. The higher settings can definitely sting, especially in more sensitive areas, but the discomfort becomes much more tolerable over time. Overall, I think this is 100% worth the investment. If you're willing to be patient and stay consistent, the results are absolutely worth it. I expect to keep using this device for years. ... show more

Honey, when I tell y’all this hair removal device is exactly what I’ve been looking for, I mean it. I was definitely skeptical at first and spent a lot of time researching it before finally giving it a try. Not gonna lie, after the first use I still had some hairs grow back, but I wasn’t expecting instant results anyway. After a few more sessions, though, I started noticing a huge difference. My facial hair used to grow back every single day, and I’d constantly have a 5 o’clock shadow. Now, I only need to do touch-ups every 1–2 weeks, and the hair doesn’t grow nearly as fast or as thick as it used to. Yes, it’s on the expensive side, but for me it’s been completely worth it. I’d rather make a one-time investment than spend $150+ every time I go to a salon for hair removal. Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase and wish I had bought it sooner. ... show more
