This device takes some time to get used to. It's not exactly painful to use on your skin, but it's a little awkward to hold. I've used it for a couple months now and I am seeing some results, but it's not exactly what I would have hoped. I thought I was being careful and getting all of an area while treating, but I keep having stray hairs popping up in otherwise "dead" areas.

Having personally tried many of these IPL devices, it's clear that most work pretty much the same, with only minor variations setting them apart. When it comes to hair removal, the most significant discrepancies typically revolve around power (wattage of the AC adapter), ergonomics (device shape and button placement) and the inclusion of "ICE" functionality, which actively cools the targeted area during treatment. This particular unit incorporates ICE Cooling functionality, and performs reasonably. However, the flash button on the unit is horribly misplaced, near the bottom of the oblong unit (near where the cord attaches--see photos) and so it's very uncomfortable to use. Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal ** Includes ICE skin cooling functionality ** No LCD readout of number of flashes ** Rated for 48W (medium power for a home IPL) ** Oblong shape ** Five power levels By utilizing slow-motion photography, I managed to capture a snapshot of the light lasting approximately 1/100th of a second (refer to the attached photos). Keep in mind that the duration of the light emission is extremely brief. When using the device, glide it over the area from which you want to remove hair, ensuring that you expose all the hair follicles in that particular region. Immediate results will not be noticeable. The light emitted by the device sends signals to your hair follicles, prompting them to cease growth. However, it will require multiple treatments spread over several weeks before noticeable results can be expected. Over time, you should observe a significant reduction in hair growth in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power supply, a cleaning cloth, a pair of eye protection glasses, a cheap disposable razor, a bottle of moisturizing gel (made in China), plus instructions. Ice functionality is another term for "Local epidermal cooling." This is local cooling of the epidermal region (surface skin) in the region where the IPL light pulse is being applied. The high-powered light can be irritating to some people, and cooling the skin in that region can reduce the immediate irritation. Epidermal cooling is not required for efficient use, but it may make it less unpleasant to use the device for some users. While the performance of this IPL is fine, within the cheaper segment of the market, the terrible placement of the flash button makes it hard for me to recommend this particular IPL over other similarly priced and featured IPL devices where the flash button is more appropriately placed on top of the unit. You can put the device in auto-flash mode (where it continues to flash as long as it is in contact with skin), and in that mode, the flash button is not important. So you'll need to decide if you plan to always use automatic mode. Summary: Pros: ** Integrates epidermal cooling (ICE) ** 48W power supply ** Includes a bottle of moisturizing gel Cons: ** Terrible placement of flash button near the bottom of the unit will be inconvenient for most ** Some may not find the oblong shape as convenient as a gun shaped unit. ** No LCD readout of number of flashes

This initial review will just be my thoughts on the item, I will post a results update in about 30days: So I previously did purchase the more expensive one that was all over tiktok. I had amazing results but I ended up returning it as it did require a bit of time to dedicate it and I just didn't have the time to warrant the investment BUT it did work! I tried a super knock off one from another overseas app and you could just tell the major differences. This one was priced at around $100 on sale at time of purchase and had pretty decent reviews. I didn't get a chance to try it until this weekend, no matter which one you get, the expensive one or cheap one, it definitely takes some time to invest to this. The area you are using this on needs to be completely and freshly shaven, if not you will feel like shock like zaps in the area that still has hair. The unit itself is pretty sleek and comparable to the more expensive one, maybe a SLIGHT bit more bulky but nothing extremely noticeable. The produce is from china and most of the printing is in chinese, with labels in english printed over some of the writing. It was easy enough to figure out, as I've used these before but for someone brand new please take the time to read the directions. The buttons are a flat "touch" pad which is neat but it's pretty sensitive and while holding the unit at times I'd had my fingers would accidentally turn some of the features on or off. This one also is a tad bit slower then the more expensive one but not horrible for a $200+ price difference. My final thoughts are, I was pleased for the price. I am hoping results will similar to the more expensive one.
