Not only is this sliding glass door pet door affordable, the engineering concept of a swing-out slider doggie door is just plain brilliant! We bought the regular Large size. First things first! Watch the installation video on YouTube and read through the rather vague instruction manual “twice” BEFORE you assemble anything. You will notice they don’t align in terms of the assembly steps, but they’ll help you get the job done more efficiently. Both the installation video and the written instructions could be better. ;) A single person could certainly install this by themselves, although it is definitely easier with an extra set of hands. When we assembled the door frame bracket ( ] ) the upper portion of the bracket was screwed to the side frame per the instructions. However, the top screws needed to be unscrewed when installing the patio door frame so you can extend the frame to fit the opening (don’t forget to use the little piece of cardboard as the top spacer with the sticker on it that says “save this piece of cardboard” on it). Lucky for us our door was plumb and square so no issues with that thankfully, although shims are provided. We also have a “slide rail” on the bottom track of our door so we did not need to screw the bottom frame bracket into the slider frame and it fit nice and snug so we didn’t need the T brackets either. Upon opening we saved the shipping box, opened it up and laid it on our kitchen table to use as our “work area” while we assembled the sections of the door. If you have any magnet trays or bowls, use those to keep screws from rolling around. With both of us working together, it took us just under two hours to install the door, BUT, that included a trip to Home Depot to get upgraded weatherstripping. We did not use any of the weatherstripping included in the packaging. We bought three sizes and types of white rubber weatherstripping plus upgraded ¼” “brush” weatherstripping and installed different ones around the door to get the best possible seal. Our door is sealed tight and is very snug. It snows here so a good weather seal is important. It does come with a door lock that can be installed, but that lock installation requires you to drill holes into the interior side of the sliding glass door panel above your handle, which we didn’t like. Instead we opted to use the old-fashioned screw-tight door/window frame locks for the top and bottom of the door if we need to lock the slider. The door is surprising well-built for the price. We bought a name brand pet door from Home Depot for our bedroom slider years ago that cost more money and isn’t as functional and this one is easily as good, if not better quality. We LOVE that it unlocks and swings open if we need more room or have people over. The parts all fit together well, it is nicely made of sturdy aluminum, and the locks and door flap are certainly as good as any other similar slider pet doors you would get at a big box store. Highly recommend! We have an 80 lb Labradoodle, a Sheltie and a Pomeranian, plus two cats who use this door. The magnets are pretty strong so it requires the smaller animals to push a little harder, but they all figured it out pretty quick.

This doggie door is actually more than I thought existed. The fact that it can open and give me full access to the deck is awesome. I just need to get used to being able to opening it since I've never had this possibility. I'm used to having to squeeze between the doggie door and sliding glass door. I also should mention that I liked the installation video that they have on the website. The other thing that I'm thrilled about is that the doggie flap Does Not blow open with strong winds, which we just had a couple of days ago, winds over 32 mph. Since the doggie door is on the upper deck, which is at the top of the hill in our subdivision, with nothing blocking the wind, I was very impressed and pleased. It will also help when we start getting colder weather and snow here in Colorado. The other comment is regarding the great customer service. I had an issue which they resolved quickly. I was very impressed.

I have a lot of great things to say about this, but I want to get the few negative things out of the way first. 1. The middle part of the frame came slightly dented (pictured). Luckily I was able to straighten it out enough with some pliers while I was waiting to hear back from their customer service team. So that was an annoying but relatively quick fix. 2. My door frame measured a few inches larger than the recommend minimum size, but I still struggled for some time trying to get the frame into the tracks. It took a while to figure out a way to get the frame into the tracks the way it was supposed to and in the end I got it, but I couldn’t connect it properly (pic). The anchoring screws the provide are long enough where the frame is still sturdy and shouldn’t give me any issues. 3. My door tracks and the dog door frame were measuring straight at 90° but the dog door itself is slightly crooked, but only at the top. It isn’t affecting the functionality of the door at all, but the weatherstripping up top already came off on the same day of installing it. That was only after opening and closing the door about 2-3 times. I love everything else about this product though. I got the XL size for my 70lb husky/terrior mix and she fits through it perfectly. I’m sure she would’ve fit through the L, but sometimes the sizing isn’t accurate so I sized up to make sure she didn’t have to hunch while she went through. My 35lb dog had no issues going through with the weight and size of the 3 flaps. I love that it swings open to allow full access through the sliding door (I do wish there was a function to secure it while it’s open so the wind doesn’t blow it around). Locking and unlocking the door to swing open is easy with the quick release buttons. The lock that’s included is amazing, I haven’t seen that included with any other dog doors. It’s sturdy enough to use but I don’t trust it being secure enough to rely on. The instructions were easy enough to follow and they do provide a YouTube link if extra help is needed. They provided more than enough insulation material but I’ll have to remember to update my review once winter comes to test how well it blocks the cold. Overall I love the look and the functionality of the door. It has both my dogs approval.

I love that this dog door is hinged so I can easily open the whole doorway without having to remove or replace the dog door like the ones you buy in the store. It has locks at several different spots too making it make more secure than most as well. I also like the triple panel flap, it makes a world of difference keeping the cold weather out. It also helps wipe the dirt and leaves off the dogs before they come in. Make sure you measure your space space correctly, so that you get the right fit. It was perfect in my slider. I struggled with installation but I'm sure that was user error; as a single woman, I should have made sure there was someone there to help me.
