I installed the Eillion Large Dog Door on my exterior door last month, and so far it’s been excellent in every way. Built with a solid aluminum frame (no flimsy plastic here!), this door feels rock-solid and built for the long haul. ✅ What impressed me: Top-notch insulation: The triple-flap design with a center thermal layer and magnetic seals keeps out drafts, wind, and heat even in extreme weather. Energy efficiency is noticeably better than my old door. I live in Oklahoma and we are in the midst of the hot Oklahoma summer - this door is much more efficient than previous ones. Sturdy for multiple dogs: I have 3 dogs and they will run out this door at full speed (cuz squirrels are trying to take over our yard!) - the frame doesn't flex or wobble—even after the constant in and out use of my energetic dogs. Easy DIY install: Was able to install in under an house. Extra security: The metal closing panel with lock gives peace of mind when we’re out—excellent for safety and convenience. Installation doesn’t include external sealant or flashing, so I added my own weatherproofing to get the perfect tight seal. Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a big-pet-capable, weather-resistant, energy-efficient dog door—this is it. The metal build, insulated flap system, and sturdy lock make it go well beyond cheaper plastic alternatives. Worth every penny and exactly as solid and practical as advertised. This is one of the best insulated metal dog doors available — and I’ve tried several. The all-metal construction is solid, heavy-duty, and clearly built to withstand years of daily use. No flex, no rattling, just a rock-solid frame that holds up even with large, active dogs. The three-flap design is the real highlight. The center thermal flap provides excellent insulation, keeping out cold drafts and extreme heat. It’s ideal for year-round use and noticeably reduces energy loss. The magnetic closures work great, snapping back into place cleanly after every pass-through. Install was quick and smooth — under an hour with basic tools. Everything lined up cleanly and the instructions were easy to follow. Small heads-up: while the build is excellent, it didn’t include external weatherproofing sealant or flashing, so I had to purchase that separately to ensure a perfect weather-tight fit. Not a dealbreaker, just something to plan for. Also, if your dog’s a chewer, I highly recommend spraying the flaps with a safe anti-bite spray to prevent wear — especially during teething. Overall, this is a top-tier thermal dog door with metal construction, energy-efficient flaps, easy DIY install, and long-term durability. Worth every penny.

I recently installed the Eillion Medium Dog Door with the aluminum frame, and overall I’m very happy with it. The installation was straightforward — the instructions were clear and the pieces fit together without much trouble, so I had it mounted in under an hour. I especially appreciate the three-flap design: it seems to do a better job keeping out wind and rain than single- or double-flap doors. My dog moves through it easily, and the flaps close well after she passes. One thing to note is that there was a large gap around the frame when I first installed it, so I added extra weatherstripping to seal it. After that fix, the door kept the cold and drafts out much better. I’d recommend this product to anyone who wants an effective, easy-to-install dog door and is willing to add a little extra weatherproofing if needed.

I just replaced my old XL Petsafe door with the Eillion XL Door. Not because it wasn't working, but because my kitchen was freezing cold. I wish I had purchased this door years ago. Not only is it made better with a metal frame , but it only has 2 parts to screw together. If you have ever installed a Petsafe door you know what I'm talking about. It also uses metal screws instead of those flimsy plastic bolts. I could feel a diference in the temperature of my kitchen the moment it was installed. As far as price; yes it is a bit higher, but worth every single penny.

Update: it’s $31 (with shipping) per flap to replace the flaps. That’s crazy. Especially if you need to replace both. That’s more than half the cost of the whole thing including the frame. I recommend looks for another dog door with more reasonable replacement parts. I bought this dog door in February and it seemed to be holding up well. Install was simple and the dogs got used to it pretty quickly. It has only been 5 months and the flaps are tearing off. I have reached out to the company through Amazon and they told me to reach out to some weird customer service email that is on the instruction manual. I have yet to hear back and it’s been days. Looks like I am going to have to buy another door in whole just to replace the flaps. Save your money and go with something that has easier to get replacement parts. As a dog owner that has had dog doors for years the doors/flaps need to usually be changed once a year. They do not have a replacement you can buy nor can you easily get ahold of anyone to get the parts you need.

Nice doggie door! Assembly was basically easy. Be sure to install the lock on the inside frame before you bolt the frame together in place! If you don't, you will have to take it back apart to install the lock! They don't tell you that! Also, the lock, templates and hardware are in a skinny box in between the door flaps. It's easy to not see it and think it wasn't in your package. Just look for it, it's there. It hides! Outside of that, I had no troubles with the installation. I like the three flap option. It will be good for in the winter! Overall, it seems to be a good value for the price I paid. It's made of quality materials, and it's easy to install! Now, if I can just get my dog to figure out that evil flap! She will come and go if the flap is up out of the way, but she doesn't like that flap!
