  • Exactly what I need. Fast and and accurate.
Perfect for me, as I’m colorblind red/green and have a terrible time with test strips. This unit tests very quickly once you get the hang of it. Bluetooth feature allows you to compare results over time, fine tune your pool chemistry, and get a “feel” for what your pool needs. Does not test salinity but there’s a very inexpensive digital tester for that as well. Couldn’t be more pleased with this unit and it’s worth every penny IMO. I’ve compared a couple of test results with the local pool store’s digital test and found the ColorQ to be very accurate. Reagent refills are also easy to find. ... show more

  • Love it
Good kit. Easy to use. Accurate enough for me. Saves me money from listening to pool store sales pressure to buy chemical xxx.

  • Expensive. Inaccurate. Tedious. Misleading. Not returnable.
We’ve been pool owners over forty years and have used a variety of manual and automated test kits. We have a 25,000 gallon in ground pool. We had been using Leslie’s accublue automated system, but it locks customers into an ecosystem of expensive chemicals. The ColorQ system seemed like a good alternative without subscription fees. We also bought a strip based system to try that uses a cell phone app to interpret the colors. Compared to the other systems, ColorQ is many times the cost with no features to justify it. Free chlorine, total chlorine, alkalinity, and ph agree with the other systems, so why pay the premium for this one? Cyanuric acid test requires a two minute settling time during which the reader times out. Rather than having a recall memory, waking the unit requires restarting all the tests. Best to prep all the vials at the same time and let the two minutes elapse before beginning the test sequence. Even so, the CYA readings are nonsense (e.g. a CYA reading of 0 when using stabilized chlorine tabs while other systems show 150). The digital readout makes results appear precise, but the actual results are no more accurate than the other systems. Worse, the strip test system we tried uses a camera app to interpret the colors (using a provided known neutral gray background for reference and delivers equally precise appearing number results. That takes about 2 minutes total. The ColorQ system requires collecting a water sample in a bottle, adding a precise amount of the water to each vial, adding the preside number of drops or tablet chemicals to each vial, crushing the tablets, inverting vials, to mix, waiting 2 minutes for the CYA vial to settle, calibrating the reader with clear sample water, then inserting each vial in turn, skipping two tests for which neither chemicals nor instructions are provided, then clean up. It takes about 20minutes. Not fun unless you enjoyed high school chem lab with capillary pipettes. Oh, and make sure you use the right vial for each test, as they re not identical. For the price, you could expect at least a quality feel to the kit. The reader is cheap plastic with a cheap feeling actuator button (unlabeled) and the test vials are plastic as well. The kit does come with a generous supply of test chemicals, though. Should you be unhappy with the test kit, it is not returnable, even if the shipping box is never opened. Complete waste of money. ... show more

  • That this seller is one of the best I had at Amazon.
These days you don’t get great customer support, sellers describing there product very well & most important. If your not 100% happy with your purchase. I mean as long as you didn’t go beyond just opening the seal of the carton & lost parts to your product. You may have a situation as I did and had to return it for a refund. This seller not only send me a label & gave me shipping detail on how to do so. He never complained one bit and accepted my return in a timely matter. I will buy from this seller again knowing I will be absolutely satisfied with not only his great product but his timely manner as well. Thank you for great customer service. Sincerely, Rudy Garcia. ... show more

  • Very happy overall with this (not quite perfect) unit
Actually 4.5 star. Greatly simplifies pool chemistry measurements for me, who is colorblind and find it extremely difficult to use color-based systems. Precise (but not always accurate) results for chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and hardness. Using with the phone app allows cloud data storage along with some analytics which is nice. Technique is extremely important to achieve repeatible results... make sure vials are kept clean, correct water levels are used, etc. We've occasionally had totally bogus reading esp for alkalinity. If I don't belive the reading, I double check using my Taylor K1005, which is probably more accurate (but, for me, had some downsides such as vastly more difficult to use and doesn't capture data electronically for my records. Also the Taylor readings are more subjective and less precise). Reagent and tablet refills are not readily available but can be found with a bit of searching. In summary I'm very happy to have our ColorQ system. ... show more

  • Compared against strips and Taylor kit...seems very accurate
I've had this unit for about a month now and I don't know what I'd do without it. This unit allows me to quickly test for all the necessary pool chemistry and it's very easy to use. My only complaint is the unit sometimes times out too quickly on me during the Cyanuric acid test. I have compared this against test strips and the Taylor K2005 kit and (despite the strips obviously having larger ranges) all 3 seem to agree except this product is much easier to use and get a reading. Just today I had a reading of ~150 ppm for TA (I know, it's high) and performed the Taylor test, Sure enough, at the 15th-16th drops the test turned red. Also accurate when compared to readings from a local pool company using Bioguard...dare I say it even caught a potential error on that testing just today. It might depend on how well your unit was calibrated from the factory but mine seems to be working very well. ... show more

  • Love this!
I got tired of guessing which color matched the closest with strips and traditional drop tests. Not to mention my husband is color blind so I was the only one who could use the other tests. This is so easy to use and works quickly. I like that it records my results via Bluetooth into the app as well. It seems to be accurate when comparing results against other testing methods. Definitely a good purchase. ... show more
