This drive even includes a complimentary one month membership to the Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Plan for access to awesome photo and video editing apps. Troubleshoot: (1) file transfers are too slow - check if the other USB devices connected to the same port or hub Is the drive connected to a USB 2.0 port on your computer or hub Is your computer's internal hard drive limiting transfer speeds (2) receiving file transfer error messages - When copying files or folders from a computer to a FAT 32 volume, certain characters cannot be copied.These characters include, but are not limited to:? <> / \ : The drive will remount to the desktop. LaCie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your computer to sleep mode, and when the computer is awoken from sleep, it may not give the drive enough time to spin-up from its sleep mode (3) The drive icon doesn't appear on my desktop - check if both ends of the USB cables are firmly attached check if the drive receiving sufficient power. I regret that my two year experience with this drive using Mac machines is not positive. I have not found it to be reliable. To recover files on the drive now...again...I must fire up an antique Chromebook, which sees my files so I can back them up elsewhere. It worries me and I'm not messing with this drive further. -- Same issues on newer UnionSine drive. Drives mount one time but not the next...Disk Utility hangs trying to find it...workaround is to mount the drive on my ancient Chromebook...which sees the drives and files fine...then retry on Mac...usually this works but it is really weird...I see now it has to do with how I formatted these drives as exFAT as advised...both my Macs randomly spit it out and say yuck...nerve wracking as these are important back up drives...honestly WTH why are we still having drive compatibility crap like this? So apologies LaCie it does not seem to be your fault... ... show more

Easy installation. I take it everywhere. It’s light but it sure packs a punch. Definitely a good buy. It works for my life, storage wise. I have an Apple ecosystem, but I’ve used it on windows compatible devices so it’s very compatible with both systems.

I’ve used it for backups and file transfers, and it’s been fast, consistent, and durable. The rugged design gives peace of mind—especially if you’re on the move or working in rough environments. USB 3.0 speeds are solid, and it’s backward compatible with USB 2.0, which helped with older systems. No setup needed—just plug and go. It’s a bit bulkier than sleeker drives, but that’s the tradeoff for the shock resistance and water-resistant casing. I think the connection-drop concerns have been addressed. My drive's cords are wicked solid, both on the drive side (mini USB 3.0) and the laptop side (USB-C). Both connections are very solid. As to backup function, wicked fast. 2-3 minutes for me for backup.
