Exactly what i was looking for in a cleaver. At first it felt clunky to use, since it is very heavy, about a pound or so, but after getrting used to the heft i makes cooking so easy. I was looking for a vegetable knife and i found that my 12 inch chefs knife was not heavy enough or hefty enough to go through large vegetables easy. this blade is sharp and well made, the weight of the blade alone helps a ton cutting throught anything, including bones and tough tissue. Im a full time cook at home and make almost everything from scratch, and this blade took me by surprise. cuts cleanly, chops well, and even has the ability to make precise cuts, much like a chinese cleaver. im now making my own ground beef and tuna at home with this blade as i only have to lift up and let it drop slightly to get the job done. my no 1 knife in my kitchen. for the price i will buy anoother soon.

I bought it for my daughter because she does sushi and sashimi culinary. She was looking for a very good quality cleaver and I found this one. I had no idea how much I was going to enjoy this knife! It's well-balanced and sharper than any knife I have used before. I used it to cut a Tri-Tip last night, and my view of cutlery has forever changed. Cut through meat like butter. Chops vegetables as expected, but slices them like I was passing through a stick of room-temperature margarine. I came on to purchase some other knives from KYOKU and decided I would leave a review of this Chinese chef knife. The only thing I can say in the negative is the tang ever so slightly is wider than the handle. Perhaps wood shrinkage? Easy enough to resolve with a couple of passes with a file and some Emory cloth. But for the price, I can't complain. This is a worthy purchase that you will not be ashamed of.

This is now my go to knife for pork and beef ribs. I have used it for multiple other uses, including cutting a pork butt up for grinding, dicing garlic, chopped sandwiches, etc. It is sharp, had good weight to it, and is easy to use when two hands are needed.

High quality Japanese steel and a magnificent edge. There is a Asian cucumber salad that I adore, but could never get the exact result of the Asian masters. You must have a knife like this to make "smashed cucumber salad!" Smashing the cucumbers with the flat of this blade IS the secret!

This cleaver arrived in nice packaging. I wanted a good cleaver but wasn’t looking to break the bank. I have a premium set of knives but felt the cleaver would take abuse and want a “Good” product not expensive. This cleaver fits the position well. I would definitely recommend this product.
