The SmartCode 913 touchpad electronic deadbolt is a one touch locking motorized deadbolt. With your personalized code, you can enter your home with the convenience of keyless entry and the back lit keypad provides increased visibility. SmartCode is easy to install, program and use, and operates on 4 AA batteries. It also features SmartKey Security as the backup keyway. The Venetian Bronze finish is hand rubbed to reveal unique bronze highlights and provides a rich and warm complement to the product's style. I couldn't find this exact model anywhere locally, I'd replaced my old doorknob with a nice lever handle, and this lockset matches the handle perfectly. Very easy to install, and since I'm in and out my door at least a dozen times a day, I simply press the lock button when I leave. I still usually use my key when entering, but the ability to assign each user their own code is very nice (I have several employees that need access to my home when I'm not home.) I been having this lock for almost 3 months and works very good so far.. the only thing is that the battery light already turned yellow so I dont know if Iโ€™ll like the Idea of changing batteries every 3-4 months so weโ€™ll see! May come back to post an update

The lock works great. Codes are easy to set up and change. The installation should have been pretty straightforward, but the instructions were vague on some key steps.

I bought two. The first install was easy and it works great, though somehow I thought I bought one that was blue tooth or wifi and I didn't, but I may move this to another door and get the version that is wifi enabled. It was also easy to reset the key to match the one I (and pet sitters) have. I love being able to go out on a walk without my keys and I love not fumbling for my keys when get home. It will be wonderful for those who might need pet sitting or emergency access. I went to install the second and the lock worked when I just have the face on, but when I put the inside portion on and screwed it in, the lock would get stuck not fully closed or not get past 1/2" of locking and time out. Thinking I screwed the backplate too tightly, I loosened it, it up a bit. This was better, but not reliable enough and I didn't want to get locked out and it felt (and looked) wrong. After three tries I called the Kwikset customer service and the person was super helpful, gave me clear instructions, we tried doing various 'resets' to teach the lock and it got better, but not enough. She told me that the lock is both mechanical and electronic and sometimes the tricks to reset it work and sometimes it's just not quite right. So I got an email from them, I sent a photo of the inside and outside of the lock and a replacement is on the way. Super helpful and knowledgeable. I will say that I have a less expensive kwikset keyless lock on another door and while it is not as sleek of a look, it works just fine for this purpose. So consider that, and I'll upgrade to a wifi one next now that I love the keyless option (I have 5 doors so this lock will find a home.) ... show more

Lock does veverything you need it to do, easy to install easy to use on the app, BUT it is loud when locking and unlocking for 2022 I would think that smart locks would come along ways just seems like this one has some catching up to do. Mine is already installed so ill run it until I get every annoyed but I wish it would be quiet ... show more

Installation was easy enough but required a modest amount of head scratching. This installation was just done yesterday, so this review doesn't say anything about reliability or battery life. Step 8 of the instructions tells you to remove a locking screw so you can remove the cover and install batteries. Meantime at step 4 you have already added 2 other screws you have to remove at step 5 so you can remove the cover to install batteries. A minor irritant. This installation replaced a sturdy, manual deadbolt. The original striker plate works fine for me and has long screws needed for security. The 1" hole in my door was slightly off center. With the new bolt being a full fit in the hole, a wood chisel was needed to trim the inset in the door, and the two original screw holes were then slightly off-center. But they worked. Initially, new lithium batteries by Everready were installed in hopes of prolonging battery life, which some people report as an issue. Everything worked fine, but the status light blinked red whenever the bolt was thrown and green whenever it was retracted. A note was found on the Kwikset website that recommended against lithium batteries, so they were replaced with fresh alkalines, and the status light then worked properly, showing amber whenever the bolt was thrown. Programming the key codes is easy. Lock behavior seems very good. Appearance is good. The keypad lights up if the lock button is pressed before entering the unlocking code. It seems necessary to ensure that a physical key remains accessible in order to avoid the potential consequences of a battery failure. ... show more
