Didn't much care for all the tiny plastic snaps, took too long to snap back on. Leg holes are really too small for the dogs shoulders, kept sliding off. Gave 3 stars for at least getting to wear twice before it tore after washing.

I have a miniature poodle pup with all the energy. She went in for a spay surgery, and I bought two of these as a protective barrier with an inflatable cone as an option. She just completed her “one and done” heat cycle and I was not going through the diaper phase again - and I didn’t want to consider a recovery suit that had the flap like a diaper. This was the best option all around - as it’s warming up and the fabric was light enough she didn’t overheat. It has a double fabric area (I assume you could also cut out the double area for a boy) that covers right where her incision was, so if she licked at it just a bit before I caught her, she had the extra fabric for protection, and it was pretty quick to dry. When they were spaying her, they found a hernia that they could fix, so she ended up having two little wounds to heal, and she got the “possible” one month post op internal stitches infection. Now, let me say, after two days in diapers during her heat, that girl could VANISH in my house…she hated them. But, when I needed to pull out the suit again for the time while the antibiotics took effect, she didn’t seem phased at all that she had to wear it again. She *could* reach her little nose into her leg opening and lick, but it did not reach her wound site - just her inner thigh, about two inches below the wound. I did use an inflatable neck collar if I wasn’t with her, and she promptly killed it the day we found the post op infection. In two short hours in her crate, she decimated it. So, to know that she will allow me to put the suits on without fuss is a BIG DEAL. She is a full poodle, and has the curls and a white and black coat. I think the fabric actually helped bring out the curl in her hair…like if a naturally curly hair person wraps wet hair in a t-shirt fabric instead of a towel. It didn’t wear any spots on her skin, rub anywhere, and didn’t tangle or pull on her coat. 100% bought a couple more (she lives for outdoor time) and will use them without hesitation the next time the need arises.

I have to say, I'm glad that the size chart for this one was fairly accurate. I tried a few other suits and found them way too big, despite following the size chart. My puppy got neutered, and I'm not sure who hates the cone of shame more: me or him. This proved to be a sound alternative, especially since it doesn't have to be removed to go to the bathroom. it's also not super heavy, so my dog doesn't overheat on trips outside. The buttons down the back make this something my baby can't easily worm his way out of. But they do require some work if you have an impatient or squirmy pup like I do. Another thing I found was that the opening for him to use the bathroom is gigantic! I could fit my whole hand through it! I hardly think a Shih-poo needs that much of a space. It's problematic, too, because it didn't really cover his stitches. So I had to sew up the opening a little toward the back to achieve this. So this would be a five-star product if I didn't have to do the extra work. All in all, however, it beats that blasted cone!

Tried 3 other brands before finding this one… we have a slightly “larger” Yorkie… she’s 8-9lbs and 1.5yrs. Purchased one for her spay and ended up purchasing a second so that the first one could be washed and she’d continue to have one on. Washed really well too!! Does what’s necessary to prevent her sister from trying to lick her incision and avoided the cone altogether!
