Bike locks are always a compromise between security, weight, convenience, and portability, and I think this one strikes a pretty reasonable balance overall. The chain itself is substantial and feels secure enough that I’m comfortable using it for normal around-town riding and lower-risk environments. It has enough heft and security features that I generally feel confident my bike will still be there when I come back from running errands, grabbing food, or making shorter stops. That said, I still personally wouldn’t trust any chain lock like this for overnight locking or leaving a bike unattended for very long periods in high-theft areas. At a certain point, portable bike security is always about deterrence and slowing someone down rather than making theft impossible. One thing buyers should absolutely be aware of is the weight. This is not a lightweight lock. I’ve carried it in a backpack before and it gets uncomfortable pretty quickly, especially on longer rides. In my opinion, having a rear rack or another dedicated way to carry it on the bike itself makes a big difference in day-to-day usability. After a lot of research, I decided to go with this chain lock, and I’m very happy with the purchase. In my opinion, it’s the perfect size for e-bikes. It looks extremely sturdy, gives off a serious “don’t mess with this bike” vibe, and feels incredibly well-built. The chain itself is thick, versatile, and weighs nearly 10 pounds. You’ll definitely notice the weight when you pick it up, which gave me confidence in the level of protection it provides. Despite being a heavy-duty lock, it’s still surprisingly portable. It fits nicely inside my 13L rear bike bag with room left over for other essentials. The flexibility of the chain also makes it easy to lock your bike to a wide variety of bike racks, poles, fences, campground fixtures, and other objects that can be difficult to use with a traditional U-lock. While no lock is theft-proof, I believe this will deter the vast majority of thieves. The chain is extremely thick and would require significant time, effort, noise, and tools to defeat. If someone is determined enough, they can eventually get through almost any lock, but for everyday use and reasonable parking situations, this lock provides excellent peace of mind. Overall, I think it’s a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a strong, versatile, portable chain lock for an e-bike or other valuable bicycle. This security chain is impressive. 10 lbs feels heavier in your hand than you'd think. I was able to lock up my motorcycle to various objects with little trouble. The key takes some fiddling to get it to engage. Once it does the locking pin slides very easily. The cover made handling it easy.

Great chain lock, feel solid and well made. The lock can be a little tricky to get used to and sometimes takes a few more seconds to open than I would like, but security takes a bit of extra effort, and I'm okay with that. 3+years still works like day like day 1, only thing I'd say is after years of use being outside in countless sand storms the dust guard has jammed a little from all the dust over the years nothing a little bit of force closing and opening won't fix. If your going to leave your bicycle outside for extended time i recommend it. 100$ to protect my 1200K bicycle plus added parts. Ya that's a tiny investment to protect your value. I live outside the city and keep it locked up outside my house under my side patio if that gives you any more idea/help of how I've used it over the years. ... show more

It's very heavy! Feels authentic, durable and reliable. it comes with free key registration and replacement plan and on-demand theft protection plan for two years. The 5.25 ft long one is so heavy and massive so I have to put it in a rack bag but it'll be worth to secure the bike outside.

    • Lots of research and here's what I got...

I did a TON of research on bike locks; reviews, stories on blogs, and many utube videos. I have a new eBike to add to my barn and this is what I now carry in my little rear bag. It is heavy for sure, but all of the high security locks are. And on an eBike, a few extra pounds is not an issue. It also comes with Kryptonites guarantee against theft of your bicycle! If someone manages to get it off and steal your bicycle, send them a photo of the broken lock and the police report and they will *replace the cost of your bicycle* ! That's amazing. I never leave the bicycle for many hours at a time, but I do live in a city with a LOT of bicycle theft. So I use the lock any time I go in to a store or have to be away from it. Period. Plus, the lock is integrated with the chain. I like that as there's no need for some kind of giant padlock thing on the chain. It is long enough that I can secure the front wheel (quick release) to the frame and still go around whatever bike rack or anchor I am using. No way anyone is getting this off without a lot of time, a lot of noise, and a really expensive angle grinder. Insurance is there as a backup too. Highly recommend. ... show more
