LPL gave this lock his stamp of approval which was more than enough for me to take a look at it. Of course once I got it the first thing I tried to do was pick it and it took me about a half hour. I don't consider myself an expert or anything but the way I see it if it took me a half hour sitting down in a controlled environment where I could manipulate the lock however I wanted then outdoors in a real environment it should be a pretty decent deterrent. You would need hydraulic bolt cutters in order to get through this thing. It would be easier to cut through the bike. ... show more

This is a better bike chain than you will find at most sporting goods stores or hardware stores. Most of their lock cables can be broken with a 3$ set of pliers from the dollar store. This is not the kind of steel found in ordinary bolts. The cutting blades of a monster bolt cutter would not gradually slice through this chain. If the chain failed, it would probably shatter rather than give in to the cutting blade. If it was any heavier, the bike owner would not carry it. This appears to be a great lock but I was lead to believe it carried anti-theft protection as part of the lock cost. It doesn’t but you can pay $35 extra for 5 year coverage. The con is that the thieves must leave the broken lock behind so you can send kryptonite a picture of the lock. How can I ensure what thieves may/may not do. I passed on the offer and now feel like I was tricked by thieves selling a bike lock. ... show more

Purchased this to secure ebike to rack while traveling, or in campgrounds overnight. I like the fact that all of the chain links are covered by either nylon sleeping, or rubber so as not to damage my bike while in use or traveling. It is not the biggest, or heaviest, but based on where I live and travel, it is more than adequate for my needs. If I need more security, I also can use U locks, in addition. The key system works well, so far, as this is generally a weak are with kryptonite locks (jamming, not turning, sticking in lock). Be aware that the advertised / promoted Anti Theft Protection is no longer free and requires a subscription service and several hoops to jump through to file a claim.     • Lots of research and here's what I got...

I did a TON of research on bike locks; reviews, stories on blogs, and many utube videos. I have a new eBike to add to my barn and this is what I now carry in my little rear bag. It is heavy for sure, but all of the high security locks are. And on an eBike, a few extra pounds is not an issue. It also comes with Kryptonites guarantee against theft of your bicycle! If someone manages to get it off and steal your bicycle, send them a photo of the broken lock and the police report and they will *replace the cost of your bicycle* ! That's amazing. I never leave the bicycle for many hours at a time, but I do live in a city with a LOT of bicycle theft. So I use the lock any time I go in to a store or have to be away from it. Period. Plus, the lock is integrated with the chain. I like that as there's no need for some kind of giant padlock thing on the chain. It is long enough that I can secure the front wheel (quick release) to the frame and still go around whatever bike rack or anchor I am using. No way anyone is getting this off without a lot of time, a lot of noise, and a really expensive angle grinder. Insurance is there as a backup too. Highly recommend. ... show more
