Description

The Kryptonite New York Lock Fahgettaboudit Mini U-Lock features a 18 mm hardened max performance steel shackle with a double deadbolt anti-rotation design that resists bolt cutters and twisting leverage attacks. There is also a steel sleeve over the cross bar for double security. The lock’s disc-style cylinder with center keyway is protected by a vinyl coating and is pick and drill resistant. The keyway also features a sliding dust cover to protect the cylinder from dirt and debris when not in use. It includes three stainless steel keys with an ergonomic design to reduce torque and keep them from bending or breaking. One of the keys has an LED key fob for added visibility in the dark. Rated at 10 / 10 on our security scale, the New York Lock Fahgettaboudit Mini is good for quick stops in major metropolitan areas and all day & overnight on college campuses, suburbs, and rural areas. This lock is a huge step up from my old random chain lock I had. The lock has 3 keys total making it very nice in case you lose any and the product feels super secure. It is a very sturdy U-lock but like other reviewers stated, the U part is quite a bit shorter compared to older and other Kryptonite U-lock models. I like that they provide a key with a blue light and I like that the bottom piece can be inserted in either end. Let's see how it goes! This lock is thick and heavy. My rating for 4 stars is simply because I wish it was a tad bit longer. I wanted to use this to lock my ebike wheel to the frame. It probably would lock to the bike and post. The aventon ebike frame is thick and with the fender in the way, to lock the wheel to the bike, I could only lock the back wheel to the “forks” holding the wheel. It’s thin metal so obviously I would’ve preferred that the wheel lock reached the thicker park of the frame. I am still scared to leave my bike unattended. I had my motor scooter stolen last year. The thief cut the u lock I had on it. So after looking at many reviews I decided to go with this one and a 16mm chain so now the weak point in the slightly "smaller" chain lol. This u lock is massive and very heavy so keep that in mind. But it does fit under my seat with plenty of room for gear. After owning the lock for over a year and having it out in the rain and extreme hot/cold it still functions as if it was new. I do put a drop of 3 in 1 lube in the key hole every few months but its has never given me trouble like other disk detainer mechanisms I've had in the past. This lock also has the updated core that has more disks and they tension off a disk father in, instead of the first disk making it harder to pick. Although it's a little short, this lock is built very well. It feels like a solid piece of metal was the lock is in place. Besides makes it very difficult to properly angle bolt cutters or angle griders. You just have to be strategic as to what you lock your bike to.

My son's Gary Fisher 29er was stolen during his freshman year in college. I was foolish enough to think a coated cable lock was sufficient. After all, he is going to a top notch college in a very nice neighborhood with very low crime. His bike lasted 3 months... So, when we bought him a new bike (albeit cheaper than the first one!), we decided to up our game. The reviews for this lock were all exceptional, so I picked it. The campus police officer who saw it said it was probably overkill; overkill is what I wanted! It weighs 4-5 lbs, so be prepared for that. Buy a bike mount - there are several. We chose the one that mounts to the handlebar, there are others that mount to the frame In our case, the lock would not physically fit in the triangle of the frame without removing the water bottle holder and other mods. The handlebar mount works fine, but be sure to put it near the center so it doesn't throw the bike off balance. NOBODY will try to cut this lock. Given a few hours with a hacksaw or perhaps a plasma torch, they could cut through. But it's a bike, not a Tiffany diamond, so once they see this thing, they will walk away and find another, far easier, target of opportunity. Lastly, buy a cable lock or two so you can protect the tires. ... show more

Okay so I just ordered this yesterday and somehow it was delivered to. So you get a temp 5 star for now because next day shipping is an A+ especially during covid 19 lockdowns. I will update this review in a few weeks and again in a couple months. So firstly this lock comes with ANTI Theft insurance type protection for 1 year free or $9.99 for 2 years now its important you register your bike within 30 days of your purchase this is very important if you want the insurance like coverage. I only ordered my bike today butI recieved this item today so I called to find out. Now I watched several reviews on this particular lock and literally uts damn near undefeatebale without making a ton of noise or being a pretty damn skilled locksmith with specialty custom lock pick tools, although from what I've read the locking mechanism is not the best there is im but it's not bad either from the many reviews I've gone through. Out the box everything locks and unlocks smoothly and it comes with 1 led light key and 2 backup keys the lock and an instruction manual for the lock and w mm1 for the key. Be sure to register your key incase you ever lose yours. I'll review this again at a later time ... show more
