The unit's extra large, self centering slots (1.5 inches wide by 5.75 inches long) can accommodate a variety of items, including bagels, buns, English muffins, and thick slices of homemade bread. For added convenience, dual independent controls make it possible to use only one side or the other, or to toast two unique orders simultaneously, like bread on one side and waffles on the other, making it easier to get the whole family out the door on time in the morning. Choose bagel mode for warming the outside and toasting the cut side of bagels; defrost mode for toasting items like frozen waffles, toaster pastries, or toaster hash browns; reheat mode for warming without toasting; or the cancel function to end the session at any time. You just have to turn the knob to select one of the six browning settings, from light to dark. Other highlights include blue LED indicators, a high lift lever for smaller items, two removable crumb trays for easy cleaning, and cord storage to help keep countertops looking tidy. I read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research before buying this toaster. I love it. The toaster itself is very attractive and modern looking. It works like a charm. I read reviews that complained about the length of time it took to toast. I learned many years ago that low quality toasters usually toasted very fast, browning the outside, but not warming the bread product itself through and through. When I started to purchase better quality toasters I learned that they did indeed take a bit longer to toast. The reason being is that they toasted more slowly and at a lower temperature which allowed the bread to be thoroughly heated through, not just browned on the outside. This toaster takes as long as the one it replaced as it too was a high quality toaster. It toasts perfectly evenly on bread, bagels, waffles, etc. I appreciate the reheat feature which allows the bread product to be heated again without getting more toasted. The defrost setting works just as it should and is really very fast. I appreciate the crumb trays which are located in the front at the bottom. They're very easy to keep clean. Also, if you have something that is sitting low in the toaster, simply push up on the lever and your item will be raised enough so you won't have the need to go fishing for it with a knife or fork. This toaster also has a 2 year warranty which is a nice change from the standard one year offered on most products. I would recommend this toaster to anyone. There's not one thing that I would change about it or that I'm not pleased with. Don't forget to do as the manufacturer instructs and run on the highest setting with nothing in the toaster for 2 or 3 times before actually toasting in it. ... show more

I am like Mitch Hedberg, I don't want anything standing between me and my toast. This toaster nails it. Perfect toast every time. All shades of doneness with a tweek of the knob; which by the way have slight clicks that keep it put. . My wife prefers her toast lightly toasted and I prefer medium. No problem just place in the appropriate side. I keep one set for her and one set for me. We are both happy, happy, happy. When preparing toast for a sandwich, such as a BLT or a tuna sandwich I use the Bagel setting. It toast one side only but slightly heats the other side which in my opinion makes for a perfect sandwich. It is so accurate you can set the knobs the same, put in 4 slices and they will both pop up almost simultaneously. In regard to evenness, it toasts the bread almost perfectly uniform front and back. No missed spots and a delicate crispness unlike any toast I have had beforel. You have likely never seen such beautiful toast.......now for some really good butter and Mayhaw Jelly. ... show more

Replacing my 18 yr old Krups 4 slice toaster w this one. In comparison, it feel lighter. Cons: It toasts slower. I've had to move the time setting to 4 to get noticibly toasted bread. Up from 3 on the last Krups toaster. So it takes about an extra minute. I'm hoping this gets better with age. There was a chemical smell the first few times we used it and the first two toast batches actually tasted a bit chemically. I ran the toaster on the highest setting (6mins) empty on both sides to sort of burn out the 'new' smell. It seems to be gone now. At that setting the sides of the toaster got quite warm. If yours will see a lot of use at higher settings be sure to keep the area around it clear. The levers probably should have been the brushed metal finish, if fingerprints bother you, this probably isn't the toaster for you. Pros: Toasts evenly, all settings function well. Warming function is great when you couldn't get to your toast straight away Defrost! I didn't have this before and I doubt I'd ever buy another toaster w/o it. If you freeze your bread you can take it straight from the freezer. Pretty to look at. Wipes up easily Last one went 18 yrs so I won't complain if this one does the same. Update: @ 6 mos the toaster is a little faster to toast. Still an even toast, no problems. :) ... show more

I bought this toaster 10 years ago and it's still working fine. I'm replacing it due to plug getting warm when in use. I really would like to buy this toaster again but spending $159 for a toaster is crazy.
