This is a nice-looking bed rail that will do the job but has a couple things that could work better if using it for an older child or adult. One Y-shaped strap runs between the mattress and box spring and has a metal weight at one end. I suppose the expectation is that the weight of the mattress will hold it in place, but it doesn't. A separate strap for each side that runs fully around the box spring and connects back to the beginning would be a big improvement. The buttons on each end to fold the rail are a bit of a hassle. Push the button to release the rail on one end, dash to the other to do the same thing, and often the first button has snapped back into place. Using it for an adjustable bed for a bed-bound adult. Adjusting the foot of the mattress causes the L-shaped under-mattress foot that's to hold the rail fall out. I used a strap I had on hand around the box spring to secure that end of the rail. ... show more

We were looking for something to put in our top camper bunk for our 3 year old as our 1 year old needed to be in the bottom bunk (in a pack in play). This rail worked perfectly. I was able to screw it to the bunk frame to keep it secure. The fold down feature allowed us to put our 3 year old in the bunk for bed and close it so there wasn't a chance of falling out. This bed guard is for my little 5 pound dog. She sleeps in my bed at night & one night she rolled over & fell off the bed. She was not hurt but it scared me bad enough to look for a solution. My bed is 26" high. My mattress is 13" Thick. I like this bed guard because when you fold it down, it folds & hangs straight down & does not rest on the floor at an angle. It is very easy to unlatch and fold down And you just raise it back up for it to snap back in the upright position. You can make up your bed as normal. First - I own two of these products. A 43 inch and 51 inch bed rail. If installed properly, this product is very sturdy and easy to use. My kids are safe and no problems at all. Second, in ordering another product of the same size, I was shipped a 59 inch product that someone put a 43 inch sticker on. This happened twice. I called Amazon and Amazon said they’d put the product on hold. But I contacted the seller and this was the best method. The seller offered me $20 for the inconvenience, which was in addition to Amazon fully refunding my purchase. So I recommend the product and recommend the company as well.     • Doesn’t fit my crib with 54 inch

I have a kalani crib with 54 inches in length. The rail is difficult to fit the crib and it is not possible to lower the rail as there is no space to push the side buttons. I fixed it to the queen bed next to crib in reverse fashion. If the hack doesn’t work as expected I may return the item.
