I bought this AC because I moved into a new apartment that didn't have furnished air conditioning. This was my first experience with a through the wall unit. Installation was quick and easy. It took less than 30 minutes to install but did require two people to perform. It's a heavy unit, coming in at just under 80 pounds, but two people can handle it easily. The remote control works well but requires a direct line of sight to work which isn't an issue in a small apartment. It moves air very well and has kept my apartment cool and at a low humidity, all summer even when the humidity was over 80% and the temperature was at 100 degrees. The display is bright and easy to read and the on-unit controls are easy to use and understand. The filter on my unit sticks a little when taking it out for cleaning but not terribly so. The unit tells you when to clean the filter with a built-in warning light. Cleaning the filter is quick and easy and I use some dish soap, a small brush, and warm water over my kitchen sink. All in all a very good unit for the price. My heating/ cooling bill almost went up by about 80% compared to the winter months but I was expecting that as the building has forced water heating and any AC uses a good amount of electricity. I would recommend the unit to others given my experience with it so far.

I bought this unit as a proper replacement for a window air conditioner that was improperly installed with tape and foam in the pre-instaled sleeve in my room. This air conditioner fit perfectly and works great! My remote did not work out of the box (yes, i removed the plastic tab), but I will buy a new battery before I call it a complete loss. This unit rapidly cools off my room. It is not the quietest, but my room is small, so I am always very close to it. I bought an 8K BTU unit and it provides more than enough cooling for my small room. It works so well, I was able to leave my room door open and use a fan to blow cool air into the rest of the apartment until we purchased a 12K BTU unit for the living room. It weighs about 60 pounds, so you may need help carrying it up stairs and installing it, but I was able to do it by myself. The plug fits into a standard 3 prong (grounded) outlet and I made sure I bought a 115 V unit to ensure I was not constantly tripping a circuit during the summer. In conclusion, I like this unit and I think it works very well. It seems like there is a price premium added to Through The Wall units, but if you’re in a home that already has the sleeve permanently installed in your wall get a Through The Wall unit and consider this air conditioner. Be sure to measure your sleeve first, and check that your nearest outlet can handle the voltage of which ever unit you decide to get.

The vents rattle and the air filter shakes and vibrates. I have to wedge a whole sticky note pad under the vents to tighten the fit and stop the annoying rattling noise. The filter vibrates and makes noise. I have to wedge furniture pads in the space to hold the filter in place. The manufacturer sent me another filter to try but it makes the same sound. These are ill fitting parts. I purchased this air conditioner in October at the end of the warm season and I was looking forward to using the brand new air conditioner as soon as the weather got hot as it did this week. I am so stressed trying all sorts of DYI solutions to make it quiet. It does not work well on the auto setting it keeps running and never seems to achieve the set temperature. When first turned on it is so loud it sounds like a revving engine . It never quiets down to an acceptable humming sound. This AC is torture. I hate the idea of having to shop for another air conditioner to replace this one. I hope I can return it and get a refund

Overall I think this is a great unit for the price. Good basic features that work as advertised. Installation could be improved. I live in the midwest where it tends to be hot and humid. During the start of the working from home craze I was working in my non air conditioned sun room. I purchased this unit knowing that with the doors closed to a room with 8 windows for a 12 by 16 space and a vaulted ceiling that it was going to get hot. I shopped around and found this to be the best option for the price. This unit has very basic features and has effectively controlled the temperature in the room so some pretty hot and sunny days. The installation for me was a fairly major job since I had to cut a hole in the sun room and reroute some electrical but the directions were fairly clear on what was required. The rest of the installation instructions were fairly clear to me with one exception. There is definitely an issue with the installation of the shims on the bottom of the unit that tip it back (as mentioned in other reviews). They are too thick and will not allow you to install the unit properly into the sleeve. fortunately they are foam and easy to trim. I would dry fit these without sticking them to the sleeve and cut them with a utility blade to fit. Then pull the backing off and stick them to the unit.

this a/c almost 3 months ago was turning off by itself contacted 2 days ago EdgeStar support who handles Koldfront warranties., per their request did 2 troubleshoot., did not work., I contacted them yesterday and the same day they sent a new a/c., it was shipped yesterday UPS and I am receiving it today (just checked) They sent me a shipping label to send the defective a/c back. IMPRESSED WITH KOLDFRONT SERVICE., These things happen but the important thing is that the Companies stand back efficiently behind the warranty!! will definitely buy Koldfront products again and again!!! Great Customer Service from Taylor!!
