The light green is lovely. The origami aspect works. The Sage easily and steadfastly fits into the magnetic cover which has a hard shell backing. It's smooth to the touch but has a "wrinkled" looking surface. The only slight is the power button is covered by it. If the Sage has gone to sleep while the cover is open, you just have to close and open the cover to waken the Sage. If you do wish to get to the power button, you can easily pull the Sage out of the cover. ... show more

The cover is nicely made and the device fits in perfectly. I love the sage color as it falls in the color family of my favorite color green. The only draw back for me is one the limited amount of colors that the cover come in and two the price.     • Adds some heft, battery life is lacking

Picked this up during the Kobo Father's Day sale along with a Sage. This provides a very solid-feeling cover at the expense of weight--the Sage plus PowerCover is about a pound or so. I don't mind it but many people would. The ergonomics are so-so; the spot where I would naturally grip it with my left hand is right where the stylus holder is. When reading, the front cover swings around and attaches to the back magnetically, with a strong pull--the back cover won't go flopping around, that's for sure. When the cover is on, the Sage's power button is covered, so if you leave your reader sit uncovered and it goes into standby mode, you either have to remove the Sage from the cover to press the button, or flip the cover closed and open it again. Despite the battery having the same 1200 mAh rating as the Sage itself, the cover battery drains at approximately twice the rate of the Sage's built in battery, I assume to losses in magnetic induction. The behavior of the Sage + PowerCover in my experience is to fully exhaust the cover's battery first, keeping the Sage topped up at 99-100% the entire time. There is no way to charge the cover on its own, it must be connected to the Sage to charge (someone out there has probably figured a magnetic doodad to do it, but eh.) All in all it's a solid well-built case but should either have a larger battery of its own or be priced around half of what it is now. I don't regret it but I don't think I would buy another one. ... show more

    • Poor battery life when it actually charges and makes high pitched noise

I bought the Kobo Powercover for my Kobo Sage from Amazon. The case did not always charge the Kobo Sage, often having to be reseated for the Kobo Sage to draw power from it (you can tell when it's charging by tapping the battery icon. If you can't even see the case, which was often true for me, then it's not charging). It also would frequently make a loud high pitched noise. I contacted Kobo support and they told me to contact Amazon to get a replacement. I did, the replacement arrived, and it had exactly the same issue. Kobo support again told me to get a replacement, and now I'm getting a refund instead because I don't have confidence that round 3 would be any better. Save your money and get a different case (and maybe a backup power bank because the Kobo Sage has a pretty terrible battery life). ... show more

I got mine from ebay because I couldn't find it on Amazon back in December but I wanted to leave a review. I could not find any 3rd party covers except for one seller with about a dozen designs but all a bit too flashy and none that I liked so I bought the official one for $55. It is very soft and safe for screen, very simple and elegant design. It works very well as a sleep cover, but as another review already mentions, it blocks the power button, which you probably don't need to use anymore except if the sage falls asleep with the cover off, you have to put it on and off to turn off sleep mode, which isn't too big a deal but a design flaw. Also, I'm not sure how it actually works, how it detects the cover, but it's magnetic. I placed it on a metal surface with the cover off and it puts the sage in sleep mode, as if the cover is on. Just something to note. Also, the top and bottom of the spine had a sliver of the material rip away, again not a big deal, I just cut it so the rip doesn't spread, but it is looking wore and I've only had it for 3 months. Overall I would recommend it, seeing as there's little 3rd party options right now; I liked it more than I expected and works great but it is pricey for the craftsmanship. In 1yr from now, there might be more options that can be better but right now it's the best. ... show more

This is a nice cover. It doesn't feel slick, like it will slip out of your hand and it allows the Sage to go to sleep when closed. The only complaint I have is that there is no access to the power button. That seems like very poor planning for a cover made specifically for this device. You have to remove the device from the cover to reach the power button. I feel like I paid a pretty high price for this to have this glaring problem. I should have researched more, now I know I can get a $15 cover that has the ability for sleep and wake-up AND an access point to the power button. ... show more

A very poor excuse for an ereader cover. 1) It covers the off/on switch so that it is necessary to push the reader out of the cover to turn it on (or off) 2) It holds the reader in such a way that pushing the reader out to access the off/on switch may well cause it to literally shoot out of the cover 3) There is no means to hold it shut - so that it flops open, most likely when you drop the reader 4) The magnetic origami folds do not provide a good or customizable stand 5) It costs $50 ... show more

i like that it snaps on with magnets, which hold the ereader in securely but easy to take out. feels high quality, but is not. within a month, two of the corners on the front cover are starting to peel. that’s par for the course with a $15 product, but at this price??? no.
