  • Amazing when it works.
Color: White
So since i got it. Its been a bit of a hit and miss. I use the text to speech a lot. on the boox palma 2 that one worked amazing. This one the boox palma 2 pro the TTS pauses in the middle of random areas in the book. its very annoying. I have recorded this issues and sent it through the feedback. And they have recommended some system changes to try to fix this but that didnt work. They also just sent an OTA update and that issues happens less but its still happens. I love the color and the readability is great especially at night but i jeed the TTS to work like it should without it pauseing in the middle of a paragraph. I still gave it a 5 starts despite the TTS issues. ... show more

  • Junk
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. As a screen sensitive person, I knew in the first few seconds this device's backlight is unusable. But I was shocked how unstable and glitchy the screen is when checking for flicker. I'm heartbroken that a device like this that I've been waiting for provides no future for sensitive people like me (sensitivity varies among people, of course). I'm also disgusted that Boox couldn't be bothered to make a stable backlight for times where you need it. The volume out of the box on this also almost blew out my ears when a loud tinny notification sound played. The minimum volume on this is far too high and the quality of the audio is surprisingly poor. This device is generally poorly built. Cheap materials, doesn't feel solid. The SIM card tray felt loose. The case is kinda loose. The buttons feel really loose and without a nice click. It's just junk and a slap in the face to the base of customers that look to something like this for a usable phone. I've had issues with several Boox devices before this (particles under screen, yellow parts of display, touch not registering). I think now I'm confidently done with Boox. ... show more

  • Good but could be better
Color: White
I love the idea of a phone sized e-reader that fits in my bag and I can take on the go. My issue with the Palma 2 Pro is more with the software. There are other color e-ink devices on the market that have managed to have a better screen without the ghosting issue. For the piece of the device I shouldn’t have to compromise clarity of the pictures for low to no ghosting. I hope that’s a change that can be made with an update. I am considering returning and getting the Palma 2. At this point the color isn’t make it worth the price. Also, the battery life can be better. Turning off the WiFi didn’t help to extend until I put the device in airplane mode. Overall, it’s a decent device but I’m unsure if the price matches the value. And the biggest let down……no IP rating!! All this money and it’s not water resistant. Even low level android phones are water resistant. ... show more

  • If you’re a fan of the Palma, this one is Fantastic!
Color: White
I love it! I had the first Palma and really liked it. The size, the OS and everything. Finally heard about this one AND it has color? Yes please! I’m a bigger fan of using the Kindle app. It allows real immersive reading (audio book & book) which is what I look for now. It also has a small speaker for your audiobooks so Bluetooth isn’t required. Yes it is pricey but for me it ticks all the boxes I have for an ereader! Edit: Please for the love of everything ADJUST the “BOOX EinkWise” options if it’s too dark or just not to your liking. There’s lots of options. It is not a one size fits all deal. Also I have noticed zero yellowing. I also have no desire to get a stylus or use a sim. This has replaced 2 kindles and and iPad mini. I love ereaders and this one really fits all my needs. If you’ve use a Palma and liked it, then you already know your way around this one. ... show more

  • Not worth the price!
Color: White
Very underwhelming. The color resolution, the ghosting, the lag… I just couldn’t justify keeping such a pricey e-reader that just didn’t live up to the hype. I really wanted to love it, but decided to return it.

  • Tons of motion blur/smearing, unreliable calls/sms and a dark screen
Color: White
I’m a huge e-ink enthusiast with a collection of devices, but I decided to try this one since it’s new. Unfortunately, the e-ink driver is poorly programmed — whenever there’s motion, like scrolling, there’s terrible smearing and motion blur that quickly causes eye strain and headaches. I also tested the Boox Mira Pro Color, and it has the exact same issue, which is extremely frustrating. I honestly wonder if the team developing these drivers actually uses these devices. For comparison, my Boox Palma 2 (non-Pro, black-and-white) and Boox Mira Pro (non-color) both perform excellently. Whatever Boox is doing with this new generation of devices is a major step backward. The motion blur seems to be some kind of trick to make the e-ink appear smoother, but it just ruins the experience. I’d recommend getting the regular Palma 2 or checking out the Viwoods devices instead — their displays are far better tuned. The latest Boox models are a hard pass for me. As a side note, the new phone/SMS functionality added in a recent update is unreliable. It randomly stops working and requires a factory reset to fix, only to break again later. I’ve had to reset my device several times. I ended up returning my Palma 2 Pro because of this, and the display was also noticeably dark and hard to use in low light. ... show more
