Whether you’re a beginner in the kitchen or a more seasoned (French) chef like myself, a good set of knives can make cooking at home a whole lot easier. And if you really want to save time and effort, rather than building your knife collection one-by-one like I used to do, you can buy a knife set. The trick, of course, is finding one that’s filled with actually nice, sharp knives. Well search no more. I found it for you right here with this lovely Japanese knife set, which also comes with a handy sturdy cutting board. From blade materials to cost to my personal cooking style, there were tons of factors I’ve considered when selecting a block set. Since I already had a complete set in the kitchen, I wanted something more “light packed” to complement it, along of course with a good cutting board that I could make “disappear” once I was done. So, this set was the perfect choice in that regard. The sturdy wooden block contains 9 pieces, including four steak knives, 1 meat cleaver, a chef knife, bread knife, bone scissor and a knife sharpener. Once all knives are loaded inside their respective slots, the whole thing could be quite heavy to carry around. So, keep this in mind. However, usually once placed somewhere, this isn’t something that get carried around in my opinion. Plus, it’s not something that going to be easily tripped while using it. Which is good. The knife handles are solid and looks also very nice, and also feels smooth in my grip. These also feel well-balanced, and aren’t as heavy as my other set, which make them more comfortable for me to use for a long period of time. I’m very happy for my new set of knives and cutting board! It comes exactly as pictured, nice sharp blades and very user friendly. Well balanced and easy to clean. Entire set fits under my cabinets.

I purchased this set in part because I love that there is a cutting board as part of the set. It is a nice looking knife set and doesn’t take up a ton of room. As for the knives they are okay. I had a set of mid level knives for 15 years and I can’t say these are that much better especially for the price.

The media could not be loaded. What a beautiful solid knife set. The knives feel comfortable in my hand, they are weighed nicely. All are very sharp and cut through most things almost like butter. I tested the bread knife on fresh homemade bread, still warm and it cut without squishing it.! I have used the cutting board multiple times and there are no scratches that I can see. The shears work great on all cuts of meat and veg. We used the steak knives last night and they cut superbly. I cannot say how much we love this knife set. Having everything including the cutting board all in one spot is very convenient and the whole thing looks nice too.

Quality is pretty average in my opinion. Definitely not dishwasher safe. Handles will come off if you wash them in the dishwasher. The wooden block chipped/splintered. I’d rate these knives and mid to high low quality. Look great but performance is average.

The entire set is very attractive and masculine. Got this as a gift for the husband (who hates everything because of low quality, massed produced products) and he LOVES it!! The blades are incredibly sharp and strong. The handles fit comfortably in hand and the shears cut through bone like butter. Haven’t used the cleaver but I’m sure it won’t disappoint. If you’re looking for a professional set, stop looking and get these! Money well spent!
