I've only been using these for a few weeks, so I can't speak yet to their long-term qualities. Based on 7 or 8 meal preps, however, here are a few things that have jumped out already. On the positive side, the entire set was packaged well, each knife in two plastic protectors - one over just the blade, and one wrapping each knife separately. There's a nice variety of blades - six serrated steak knives, six 'specialty' knives, kitchen scissors, and a sharpener with its own slot in the block. They're certainly sharp enough, which you should expect with a new set. It was easy to cut chicken largely by simply pressing down slightly. (I didn't have to 'carve' to get the strips I wanted.) The bread knife in particular was a refreshing experience after so many months of mushed garlic bread. The quality seems strong for the price range. I'm not a professional chef or anything, but I cook most of the meals in my household and I've been through my share of cutlery. These are certainly among the better options I've tried over the years. I have mixed feelings about a few things, but I suspect these fall under 'personal preferences' rather than actual flaws. The biggest is overall visual appeal. I found the pattern on the handles to be a bit 'busy' in the pictures before I ordered, but the website view doesn't really capture just how distracting this swirly, 'the finish is already wearing off' pattern is in real life. (The finish ISN'T wearing off, of course - it's just that the aesthetics are audaciously unseemly. I'm certain this is an artistic choice rather than a 'flaw' of some sort, but it seemed worth noting.) The other minor issue I have is the way each slot of the block is labeled - 'Chef knife', 'Santoku', 'Salmon knife', 'Utility knife', 'Scissors', etc. It's not like the knives even fit in the wrong slots, nor is it difficult to remember where each knife goes. The labeling somewhat 'cheapens' the overall appearance, in my opinion. The same goes for the additional tools on the handles of the scissors. I'm sure these can be quite useful in some situations, but can or bottle openers aren't all that rare in most kitchens and such add-ons add a certain 'As Seen On TV!' feel to the overall set. I realize I've just praised the important stuff while whining about a few minor aesthetics, but many folks are quite particular about the 'vibe' of their kitchen as much as the practicality of the items found there. I'm merely suggesting you take a moment to scroll through the detailed pictures above before making your final decision.

They are beautiful but…. The big knives are not sharp enough to cut a tomato. The steak knives are sharp though I was disappointed because they’re very lovely .i will need to get a good sharpener.

MYMY didn't this much Quality for the dollar, the wood handles are finished with a good quality finish and will last a long time and I did the paper test and very sharp. Don't spend a lot of money on other set just buy these you wont regret it.
