This item is very adjustable for different sized knees, and provides a nice amount of support. The cushioning keeps it comfortable, and it is adjustable to keep it from moving around on your knee even during vigorous exercise. The velcro is reasonably durable, but can sometimes snag on clothing or other items. I remedy that by putting a small piece of athletic tape or medical tape over the edge of the velcro to keep it from being so "grabby." ... show more

Seldom do I write reviews. This review is most deserving. This Shock Doctor strap is nearly a miracle. Previously, I could run every other day, and it was painful to walk up and down stairs on the day after a modest run (3-5 miles). For reasons I don't quite fully understand, this strap has allowed my right knee to be pain free, and gives me the ability to run every day if desired. I have told several others about this product, and ironically, a few others use the same strap with the same results as I've had. For the modest price of the strap, don't hesitate for a second. These straps are great. This is the second one I have bought. The first has lasted considerably longer than other brands I have used (including pro-tech). They do not stretch and lose their elasticity. Once the velcto inevitably wears out, I continue to use the strap by tying the ends over the wrap itself. It fits as expected whereas I had to buy smaller sizes for other brands in order to get a lasting, snug fit. I am not big boned but wear a large in this wrap. I use them for runner's knee or chondromalacia. My condition has improved, and was largely attributable to tight IT bands but I still use the straps for resistance training workouts. ... show more

I have no idea how it works when used for it's recommended use? This knee strap works great and is comfortable for small knee pain. But for some reason the velcro doesn't work after a month or so. I have purchased the 3rd one and I am constantly having to adjust the velcro strap because it's constantly coming off. I will be trying another knee support brand. This is our second one to purchase. If you need patellar support this is the one to get. My teenager was diagnosed with Osgood Sclatter ( similar to patellar tendinitis ) and her orthodox said to get a knee support until she is done growing. Did my research and found this brand, since the first one we purchased rubbed the back of her other leg raw . We are replacing her original shock doctor one now and it has been about 8 months since the Velcro is starting to not hold as well. However, she wears it a minimum of 6 days per week for all of her athletic activities (competitive soccer, basketball, cross country and track events), so I anticipated needing to replace it twice yearly. I HIGHLY recommend this for other parents needing something smilar for their kids. We fit it to her leg and she easily takes it on and off now with no problems. ... show more
