This is a fantastic product for an incredible value. Don't get caught up thinking you need to purchase a high priced net, This is perfect, especially if you are new to fly fishing and building out your gear. The rubber mesh does not snag like nets made with woven materials. The magnetic release operates beautifully! I attached the net to the D-Ring on the back of my vest located on my back between my shoulders with the head of the net hanging down. When needed I can just reach behind my waist, grab the head, slight pull, and the net is in my hand ready for use. No reaching up and over my shoulders needed. When ready to stow, exact same motion, just grab the head of the net with left hand, bring the net around to you back at the waist, handle pointing up between the shoulder blades... and the magnetic clasp finds it's home and latches. It is wonderful! I highly recommend this product... you will not be dissatisfied. ... show more

I love everything about this net. Almost. The eye screw on the handle, arguably the most important part insofar as not losing your net is concerned was stripped on arrival and pulled out of the handle with the most modest force. 2c of Gorilla Glue fixed this. I don't think I should be the one to do the gluing, though. I suggest anyone buying one backs the eye out and adds some glue before re-screwing in. With that slight modification it's a great net. Without it you may wind up without a net fast. Manufacturer please address! ... show more

The overall quality of this net is quite good. In viewing the listing I was at first a bit concerned about the size of the holes at the bottom portion of the net being too large. They are not very large at all and will certainly hold any fish that you're likely to catch. The netting is very soft/flexible and will minimize any harm to the fish. The magnetic holder is incredibly strong and just placing the butt end of the net within a few inches of the holder will snap it in place. It is very lightweight and I can barely can tell that its attached to my vest. You can spend a lot more money for other fly fishing nets but I'm not sure you can find any better value. ... show more

I finally got the time to try out this net on some trout. The magnet is strong and hooks back together easily. The lanyard is very easy to pull, but fair warning that the lanyard will stretch out fully if you happen to drop the net in fast moving water. You will just need to pull it back by hand. All in all I can't wait to get back out on the water and net some more fish! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a fish friendly net at a good price. ... show more

    • Great Landing Net for Trout (REVISED 07DEC2016)
Chose this net and zinger for trout fishing on smaller streams in the North Carolina mountains. The carabiner is sturdy, the magnet is strong, and the stretchy cord easily expands to useful length. The net and handle are well made, and it works just fine in practice. Fish haven't seemed harmed at all by contact with the rubber mesh. The size is a bit on the small side, if you land anything in the 16-inch range or larger; a larger fish might come out if he's feisty. EDIT 12/7/2016: The magnet came out of the half of the keeper attached to the net handle. Luckily, it's a strong magnet, so it stayed on the metal. I super-glued it and am hoping it stays put. EDIT 2/27/2017: The seller replied to my review and offered to send a new magnetic release. After my super-glue fix failed, I took him up on it. TWO new releases arrived quickly. No problems with either. Great customer support! ... show more

I remember reading another review of the eye hook in the handle of the net coming loose, so before I used it I unscrewed the eye hook (which was fairly loose) and epoxied it in. Hopefully, that should take care of the issue. Other than that, the net seems well made and is attractive.
