The media could not be loaded. This little ukulele and starter kit are a fantastic value for the price! The instrument itself is good quality, and produces a nice bright sound. I was very happy to just give it a quick tune and start playing right out of the box. Strings are nicely placed with low action, so it was easy to get a great sound on day one. After about 3 days the instrument is holding its tune nicely, and I'm having a lot of fun playing it! The starter kit that comes along with it includes a nice soft-sided gig back with an accessory pocket and backpack-style straps. The uke also has strap buttons, and the strap that comes with it can be used with the buttons or with the included string if you want to tie it on the headstock. The clip-on tuner that comes with the kit is easy to use, and a must when breaking in a new uke. Additionally the kit comes with a spare set of nylon strings, and a "get started" book with a lot of basics about playing the ukulele. This would be a great first-time instrument, as it comes with everything you need to start playing. It is also a good addition for anyone who is looking for a nice soprano ukulele, as it both sounds great and looks really nice. The wood grain finish is stylish but simple, and it has a nice rope design print around the sound hole. The quality at this price point is really excellent -- this uke is fun to play, and I plan to enjoy its music for many years to come. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a fantastic little ukulele! It is my fourth ukulele, so I have something to compare it to, and I can say that this is the best sounding one I have. Let's go over it: Pros: 1. Beautiful wood grain on the stained mahogany. Just gorgeous. 2. Inlaid Kmise log in headstock looks expensive and attractive; nice accent that doesn't overwhelm the instrument. 3. Awesome tuning pegs! These are so unique! They are silver, and at a glance look open, but actually have a clear plastic cover, really cool. And, the knobs have a plastic that looks like tigers eye crystal. Super cool. 4. Nice carved shape on the saddle that is subtle but pretty. 5. Two silver toned strap buttons. 6. A rope rosette hole decal that gives it a nautical or country look. Note it is a decal, not inlay. 7. MOST IMPORTANT: it sounds fantastic! 8. Comes with a really nice, small, easy to use tuner with battery. Simple but nice case. Cute checkerboard strap that is thin and comfortable, a chord chart, and a basic ukulele booklet, as well as extra strings. Cons: There is just one con, and it's small but important- it comes with a little piece of sandpaper. Why? You know as soon as you pick it up that the fret edges are sharp and need to be filed down. It's a must. When you do this, be sure to tape off the side of the fretboard so you don't damage the wood. Just use masking, painters, or washi tape. Then, wrap the sand paper around a pencil or thing piece of wood and gently sand the edges of the metal frets. There are youtube videos on how to do this if you are nervous. Overall, beautiful ukulele that is a much better quality than the price indicates. At $55 before coupon, this is a really good deal. With the coupon that it had at the time, it's a steel. :D Before this, I was in love with my pineapple uku that you see in the video; I play it every day. But I think this new Kmise soprano is going to be my new go-to uku. Beginner or intermediate, you can't go wrong with this one! ... show more

I was about ready to order an Alvarez Ukulele, when I stumbled across this K-Mise on Amazon. After watching several favorable reviews on Youtube, I decided to take a chance on it. After using a discount coupon and a few bucks of credit I had at Amazon, I got it for $68.00 for the kit that includes gig bag, picks, and a truss rod wrench. First things first, I have a big problem with the way it was packaged at Amazon. The packaging from the manufacturer, thankfully, was very good. Nice thick box, foam wrap around the Uke, and snug inside it's padded gig bag. Amazon then chose to put that in a HUGE box, with only one piece of packing paper which did absolutely no good whatsoever. The box was badly damaged on the outside, and the inner box with the Ukulele was bouncing around all over the place. Luckily, thanks to the manufacturer packaging, it was undamaged. The instrument looks and sounds great. A couple of minor points...the two wound copper coated bass strings were showing signs of corroding and will need to be replaced very soon. This is pretty common for instruments from China though, and isn't a big concern. The second minor thing was that there were a few frets that had a slight roughness near the edge of the fretboard. This, I am fairly sure is due to the winter weather and low humidity. I believe it will be fine after a little while in higher humidity with a home made humidifier bag in the case. If not, then some very slight fret dressing might be necessary. The frets are not terribly rough or poorly filed, just a little shrinkage I think. Again, fairly common with imported instruments that may have stored for a long period of time in a warehouse and then shipped in cold weather. As far as the sound and play of the instrument, it is amazingly nice for the price range, and obviously cheap strings. The action is perfect. One of the main selling points for this ukulele for me was the adjustable truss rod. This is unusual for a ukulele, even at higher price ranges, and can be a major benefit if at some point the neck happens to warp a little, or the factory action adjustments leave a bit to be desired. Overall, it is a 5 star product for sure. I've been playing stringed instruments for decades, and know the difference in junk and decent quality. If you have $300 up to spend on a higher grade instrument, and are that serious about it, go for it, but this one fits the bill very nicely for the casual picker, beginning student or amateur musician. ... show more
