  • Better than I anticipated!
I read the reviews and was skeptical about the positive remarks from a low-priced, Chinese Banjolele. Once I got it, it was as described and it lived up to the reviews. For $90, this little Banjolele is pretty well made, sounds great and has good playability. But, I do want to point out some things that you should know. To get the best tone, you will need to replace the strings and take off the resonator panel. For $6, you can replace the stock strings with a nice set and it immediately and noticeable improves the tone. Also, the cool, tinny sound of a Banjo seems muted with the resonator panel on (I thought resonators were supposed to make Banjos louder. but this one mutes the sound). Once removed, you will hear a brighter, louder, crisper sound that you can control with some body placement. I was hoping to put spacers between the body hoop and the back panel to allow some sound to escape but the screws are tiny and the rim is made from cheap wood and has small stress fractures from the bending process, so you can't take off and put on the resonator over and over without risking stripping out the holes. The action is a bit high but if you carefully sand down the bottom of the bridge, you can get it down to a more reasonable height. I took .5mm off of mine and it was worth it. The head is rough and not made of great material. The roughness allows for a cool scratching sounds when using a scratching strumming technique where your fingers graze the head material. The tuners are a little loose but once quality strings break in, it is staying in tune fairly well, but not perfectly. This is a great value at $90 and a great way to see if you like playing a Banjolele. If you do, and you do it a lot, you will feel better about dripping $400 next time. Overall, four solid stars! ... show more

  • WORTH THE PRICE - A FIVE STAR Bargain!
Color: Brown Maple
Great instrument for the price. Worth Five Stars! The shipping took over 6 weeks and was incomplete - did not come with advertised bag and tuner. Had to contact Amazon - but response was good and timely. Got a bag within a reasonable time and the tuner about two weeks after the banjo was delivered. I was not that upset as it seemed that everyone was trying to make it right. Had to laugh that I was sent an email to track the turner - but all the information was in Chinese and I could not figure it out. But the instrument works as well as could be expected. Putting the bridge on was easy to do. Just loosen the strings some and slid it sideways under then flip it so that it is upright. Then push the strings with your fingers until each one is cradled in the 4 groves on the bridge. Slide it so that it is 8 and half inches from the 12th fret and then tune the stings. The first several times that you play it you will have to keep tuning it - but it seems to hold better now that time has gone by. I guess the strings need to be broken in... becasue it stays in tune much longer now. Over-all - a sensible buy for non-serious players. It sounds good enough. I would assume that those that coast 2-3 times more may have a better sound - but for my lifestyle and purposes this is good enough. ... show more

  • Kmise Banjolele not bad!
Color: Brown Maple
I've played 5 string bluegrass banjo for a long time and own since expensive Banjos.... Taken many apart, set they up, so I'm fairly experienced with good and cheap banjos. My daughter wanted a banjolele for Christmas and I got her this Kmise model. I was very, very pleasantly surprised what you get for $95. The banjolele is decent quality and plays pretty good. Decent volume and tone. Action is okay, too. Having allot of fun with it already. Maybe in a week or so Ill put better strings on it, maybe a lower bridge, but that's all I would do. Cosmetically is really nice. Nice wood. Nice chrome hardware. Head was good and tight. Even the tuner it came with is better than some I've paid for in the past. All in all I'd say its a heck of a deal. Now I'm going to buy myself one and add a 5th string to it for my travel bluegrass uke. ... show more

  • Adorable!
Color: MI1663
My husband absolutely loves it. The sound is amazingly crisp and thick. Plays more like a banjo than a ukulele. He of course had to tune it after opening it. No problem because he just clipped his Snark on it and tuned it according to the video on Amazon. The box it shipped UPS in was actually in perfect condition (Surprisingly) when it arrived. My congratulations to goes out to Amazon for finally getting one order here on time! Its perfect for times when my husband doesn't feel like messing with his full size guitars, cello or violins because it puts out it's own unique sound and quiet loud I may add. All in all, I give it 5 out of 5 stars for quality, sound, size and value. (5th star goes to Amazon' fulfillment center for getting it here on time for once)! ... show more

  • Quality Instrument! Cant beat the price!
I love this banjo ukulele! I play concert, tenor, and baritone, and it is great to receive such a unique sounding instrument in the mail and know how to play it right away, even if you be never played one before. This is a great instrument for a ukulele player to add to their collection. I have tried the oscar schmidt version, and it is okay, I think the oscar is heavier though, but nothing to note about why one should pay double for the oscar schmidt version. You can't beat the price of this banjolele. I will say that I felt a bit mislead when the seller was "kmise-us" and it shipped from China instead of here in U.S., so it took about 3 weeks to get here. ... show more

  • Arrived with a broken neck
Color: Full Size Banjo
Really can't rate this instrument since it arrived in a condition that made it nearly unusable. Deep cracks at the top of the neck on both sides, any little knock at the wrong spot could send the whole thing splintering into oblivion. Will be returning unfortunately, the piece itself is beautiful but for what I spent I expect it to be undamaged. 2 stars for looks only. ... show more
