Description

The CL120VP Electrical Test Kit from Klein Tools is designed with optimum reliability and safety in mind. Kit comes with 1 meter and 3 testers for a variety of applications and all stored within a convenient padded pouch. The CL120 is an AC auto-ranging 400 Amp AC/DC digital clamp meter. The RT210 Receptacle Tester detects common wiring problems for Standard and GFCI AC electrical outlets. The NCVT-3P is a dual range non-contact tester with flashlight for a broad variety of voltage applications from 12 to 1000V AC or 70 to 1000V AC. Test AC and DC voltage at four commonly used ranges with the ET40 Voltage Tester.

This is a great kit for everyone from the occasional do-it-yourselfer to a professional. The GFCI tester makes a quick tester of any outlet to make sure it is properly wired, and with just a push of the button the GFCI is tested in a snap. The non-contact voltage tester has a built in flashlight that makes it easy to see in the dark confines of the electrical boxes, it makes a quick and safe way to check for voltage before you dive in. The AC/DC voltage tester is a great little tester to let you know what voltages you are working with. And lastly the auto ranging digital clamp meter is so simple to use, since it auto ranges you don’t need to guess what setting to put it on, just choose what you are measuring and start testing. The meter is so versatile and easy to use. This kit came with all the batteries to run the tools and a handy carrying case. Albeit the case is really small, I was able to get all the tools into it. Today I received my 2nd CL120VP kit from Amazon and found myself with another DOA meter. The original order was returned because the main meter was DOA when I received it (maybe). The original was opened batteries installed at their proper polarities and when I turned the dial...nothing. Replaced with fresh batteries same issue. Original meter was returned for replacement and the 2nd arrived today. Installed batteries and appeared to have the same issue...once again, replaced the batteries with fresh from the "catch-all" drawer in the kitchen...still no worky. Frustrated, I thumbed the clamp and let it snap shut and the display flickered...WTF? After several minutes of adjusting the batteries in the holder I noticed the positive connection on meter (number 1 slot, far left) was below the tip of the battery. Bent prong slightly up with a pick and the connection seems secure now that I'll keep this one. I bought this to use at home and replace my analog meters (which I prefer for checking broken/kinked wiring) because I have had great luck with my CL380 at work (I work as an industrial technician) and was hoping to have the same experience. The meter functions well and seems to hold the same values (Ohm, Amperage and voltage) as my CL380 so I trust it. The ET40 seems a bit of a waste as the leads are only about 6" long. The no contact sniffer seems to work well and the circuit tester seems to be accurate as well for diagnosing GFCI or standard outlets. Overall, I am satisfied but somewhat perplexed at the quality control at the warehouse. I have no idea if the 1st meter I received had the same issue but i wanted to throw this out there as a notice or something to watch for. Hopefully your purchase will work hassle free. ... show more

Klein makes the best electrical tools in the business. I have cuts that are more than forty, yes 40 years old that have never lost an edge. For you that don't know what cuts are, you have never pulled a wire.
