Features

  • Measure voltage and current with your clamp jaw
  • Faster, safer testing - all without touching a live wire - using FieldSense technology
  • Complete 3-phase voltage and current tests with fewer steps
  • Power quality indicator shows whether equipment or power line is faulty (378 FC)

Description

The Fluke 378 FC is a true-rms clamp meter that use FieldSense™ technology to make testing faster and safer, all without touching a live conductor. You get accurate voltage and current measurements through the clamp jaw. Simply clip the black test lead to any electrical ground, put the clamp jaw around the conductor and see reliable, accurate voltage and current values on the display. The 378 FC clamp meter also includes a unique PQ function that will detect and display power quality issues, relating to current, voltage, power factor or any combination of the three.

  • Good but Not Perfect
Received a later version with minor difference in the bag. It has a strap in the middle of the stretchy strings. Took some time to figure out the value of Fluke 378 FC. This awesome meter is about Speed and Convenience in taking measurements. Apparently, firmware can be updated via Fluke Connect (app for US only I think). Mine was 1.01.00. 378 allows my work flow to be more efficient. The body is solid. Form factor a tad larger than the 376 but feels awesome in the hand. I love the 378. Having my situation awareness widened in the shortest time possible is an amazing experience. If... you are working on high voltages or AC, don't have a clamp meter yet, looking for better workflow, working on compressors or motors a lot, taking quick measurements from phase to phase, and hate to stick probes around, THIS IS EXCELLENT. If you want precision, always looking for the decimal in the reading and working on low voltage stuff, the CLAMP ain't for you. You will need to use the probes with the 378. High accuracy and precise reading isn't what the clamp on 378 was designed for. We need the test probes for that. I also got the Fluke 289 for high accuracy and precision work. This is special because, • Field-sense works well for me. Especially when taking a quick successive approximations of Current and Voltage. IMPORTANT ground/earth this meter properly when using Field-sense. Failure to so will cause Voltage accuracy to go off by huge proportion. New users tend to make this mistake. I use Field-sense to look for Voltage anomaly, not exactly "240.5V" for example, but 238V to 245V are acceptable. • Doing 3-Phase measurements and getting a quick feel of the situation on different circuits in a panel has been a joy. Reading phase rotation is possible only on the Fluke Connect app. US only. • In-rush Current logging is my No. 1 feature when working on motors. Special Feature: Power Quality (PQ) analysis (Current, Voltage and Power Factor) is a useful feature but doesn't have a lot of details like a number. Sensitivity can be adjusted from High, Medium to Low. Not having this feature isn't a deal breaker. When using this meter, my head will either be in... 1. VALIDATION. Quickly clamping around a set of circuits to understand the territory. Usually just to make sure there's nothing weird, Or 2. HUNTING. Troubleshooting a system by hunting down the source of anomaly or failure. Fluke Connect app is useful but not necessary unless you want to stand far away from what you are measuring, logging or updating an earlier firmware. The 378 FC is nice to have but not necessary in majority of cases, especially if you already have the 376. I got the 376 and loving it as well. Got the 378 out of curiosity. Anything that can make my work safer and faster is a money making tool. If you don't do all the above, it's a nice trophy to have. Love yourself. ... show more

  • Great product
What can be said about Fluke that isn’t already known? Excellent quality, excellent test leads, and their iFlex probe is truly incredible. Everything is top-quality.

  • When you want to blow money on a tool this is the one for sparkys.
A little pricey, some of the features are a gimmick, but definitely worth having over a standard clamp on and as usual, standard speed and accuracy of what you would expect from fluke

  • Outstanding
Exceptional product. I love the practically bullet-proof case. My only gripe would be the restraint for the meter itself; not very easy to take in and out. A Velcro strap (or two) on an elastic band would move this up in my book. Field sense does not really seem to be super accurate. I opted for this unit instead of the open clampless model, thinking it would be better. It's a ballpark measurement and should not be used as a defacto reading... and yes, I clamped the meter to ground when using field sense and held the wire to the top of the clamps. I didn't even know this specifically would do 3 phase until after I bought it, but quite a nice surprise. I have a 289 for reading voltages, so I am not sure about the lead-reading accuracy of this meter. The fluke connect also seems like an overpriced feature, and sadly will not be buying the subscription as this is my personal meter. ... show more

  • Doesn't read correct voltage
I must have gotten a bum one. This is the first time I ever had an issue with any fluke product. This went straight back to amazon. This meter would read several volts higher than it should when compared to other meters. I tested it against an 87V, 179, 114, 374fc, 324. On 120V-480VAC it seemed fine. Below 30V it was way off on AC or DC. A car battery reading 12V was almost 14. First time I have had a AA battery that was over 2V! Also made me nervous that the box had all Chinese symbols on it as if it was sold for the Chinese market instead of the US market. I'll buy from a reputable fluke dealer next time. ... show more
