I bought this for the man in my life, a city man with very few projects on the horizon. He had a need for a circular saw to round out his tool arsenal. He's a good man, so it was ordered. I'm told the kit has many bells and whistles, the batteries are good ones and that the power is good. Here's the problem. As noted above, there are no projects, so this saw has been used in imaginative ways. For example, we upgraded the child from a twin IKEA bed frame to a better bed. The outgoing bedframe was PERFECTLY GOOD and could have been donated or given to others. NOPE. I heard a squeal of excitement, footsteps on the stairs and then the whir of a powerful cordless drill. That bedframe was chopped into many pieces right there in the child's bedroom. Was it necessary? No. Was it simple? Yes. Did he enjoy it? Absolutely. So, I advise you all to think carefully before purchasing such a good quality tool. What will you be giving up? I'm afraid to tell him I want to move the picnic table... ... show more

As a woman that loves DIY I was hesitant to purchase but am so glad I did!!! I watched safety videos and then gave it a go. Worked fantastic. I am no longer nervous to use it. Cuts smoothly and cleanly. Great product.

    • Typical DeWalt but could be more compact
This cordless saw is a great addition to my tools, so much easier than messing with cords. Plenty of power and I have not found the smaller blade to be a restriction yet. I have not had a saw with the blade on the left side before, but once you are used to it it's fine, and has advantages in some cutting situations. I like the light and the cast alloy baseplate. Two reasons for 4 stars vs 5. First the saw is a little long with the battery fitted, the Milwaukee was more compact and lighter but I have lots of DeWalt batteries.
