• This is a fantastic espresso machine. Let me explain the green light. Good grief.
Size: 15 Bar Color: Light Grey
This is the first espresso machine I've ever owned where the espresso comes out foamy right at brew. I don't even use the milk foamer. I don't need to. Now, I've read SO many reviews complaining about the green light. Here's how the machine works. You push the power button. Both the red and green lights blink as the machine readies. When it's ready to go the red light stays on. The green light comes on when you are actively using the machine. When you are done and turn the knob back to the upright position, the green light turns off to show the machine is not in active use. Only the red light remains to show that the machine is on. Turn off the power. The red light turns off. Don't leave the machine on. The top cup warmer gets really warm. And the machine heats up quickly, so there's no need to leave the power on. Finally, the "leaking". I did overfill (not overflow) the water vessel on the back initially and did have some come over when the machine got hot. Don't fill it to the top with water. Since figuring these things out, I've had nothing but delicious espresso and dry counters every day. Alternately, it may be that people who are having issues with "leaks" are leaving the power on. I don't know. But the machine is hot and steamy when it's on. Perhaps steam is coming out and settling as liquid on the counter? I don't know. The only water issue I had was my own fault. I love this machine. It is superior to more expensive ones I have owned in the past. It's a great machine if you use it correctly. ... show more

 • After a rough start, works great so far
Like others, I looked for an expresso machine in this price range with a 15 or more bar pump... I found the Klarstein semi-accidentally, (customers also viewed this), while looking up something else. After reading many reviews, decided to roll the dice and try it. I did not pay attention during installation, and managed to leave the blue plastic over the water tank where it connects with the rest of the machine, as a result it seemed to work, but work terrible. Come to find out, the pump is so powerful that it sucked the water around the blue plastic and into the machine despite my error. I removed the plastic from the end where the water tank connects with the machine and it has been nothing but love ever since. I noticed reviews that said that this machine did not create a puck from the ground coffee in the portafilter... here is how I achieve that. First, get a burr grinder. (I got this one: bodium Bistro burr coffee grinder), next adjust it to the finest setting. Grind some coffee and over fill it so that the coffee makes a mound on top of the portafilter - then use your pinky to press the coffee into the portafilter until it is flat. Finally (most important) get a real metal tamper for the small size of the portafilter and tamp the coffee down using all your weight, add a slight twist at the end before releasing pressure. now pull the shot... A 20 bar pump will handle the extra coffee - not to worry. I am using the pucks after pulling shots as fertilizer in my yard... Smells better than the other kind and has a high nitrogen content. As far as milk frothing - I removed the silly plastic end on the steam tube. While to would likely work for people who have never made espresso on a coffee shop machine, i didn't like it. My only complaint is that the tube could be a little longer - not a deal killer. I still get great results making foam or steaming milk. The pump provides all the pressure I need - just takes a 10 or so seconds to get up to pressure. I have only one minor (non-deal killing) complaint. The plastic tray (with the metal top) under the portafilter where the espresso pours (drip tray) is too small for the amount of liquid that pours into it. I typically make two to three drinks a day, and after the third drink, I need to empty it. When it is full, it can spill easily due to the design. I wish it were deeper, so that spills on the counter didn't happen as often. Overall, very happy with the machine. Did not expect to be this happy with any machine in the 100-150 dollar range. ... show more

 • Don’t Waste Your Money
The green light that shows the machine is up to temperature does not work. Klarstein’s customer service didn’t respond at all to multiple calls and emails. Luckily, Amazon’s customer service is much better so we will be returning this and buying a Breville. (The quality and taste were okay so if it had worked or if Klarstein he responded I would have rated much higher) ... show more

 • Green light doesn’t illuminate after heated.
First start-When I pushed in the on button both the red and green lights started blinking. Then the green light went out and the red light stayed illuminated. The green light never illuminated until I moved to cup icon. That’s not what the directions read. The directions read when the green light stays illuminated then you turn knob to make espresso/froth. Sending back. ... show more

 • Third time’s the charm!
Size: 15 Bar Color: Dark Red
Third time’s the charm. The espresso was excellent in all 3 machines. However, the First two machines had problems. The wand on the first machine wouldn’t lock, and would vibrate loose. The second machine had electric problems- the lights did not work properly. Third machine has arrived and seems to be working properly and makes very good espresso! ... show more

 • Pump didn't work
Size: 20 Bar Color: Dark Red
We ordered our first one of these espresso machines before Christmas. When it arrived, we opened the box only to find a blender. We sent it back and re-ordered the espresso machine. When we got the second one, we plugged it in only to find out that the machine wouldn't draw water, A quick internet search identified the problem: a faulty pump. Returned and bought something else. ... show more

 • Makes me feel like a barista!
Size: 15 Bar Color: Dark Red
Pretty great machine for making expresso and cappuccino right at home! Its easy and intuitive enough to use - turn it on, let it heat up, put your coffee grinds in the filter handle, twist the knob and out comes your cup of expresso. The machine also includes a milk frothing spout that makes perfectly frothy milk every single time. Cleanup is relatively easy as well, just make sure to wipe the milk frother and coffee grounds that may get stuck in handle area and thats about it. There could be some improvements however...there definitely are certain parts of the machine that feels cheap, like the handle and the tray area (already scuffed up the metal tray first day placing mugs on top). The milk frother also has this weird plastic housing over the spout. Interesting design but not what I'm used to. Other than that, I would recommend this piece of machinery for an easy way to make expresso at home. The red color is beautiful as well, it immediately spiced up my kitchen space! ... show more
