  • Amazing Amazon Lightening Deal! Quality product, easy to assemble, easy clean & move around!
Amazing Amazon Lightening Deal! And what a true deal this was! A quality made product, the only one with free shipping to AK to boot. It’s a big deal to me because shipping alone to AK for pluckers are easily $400-600, costing as much or more than the actual product. Assembly is very simple, easy to clean up, easy to move and a great price. I like that the wheels only roll and make contact with the ground when tilted to move, which make it very stable while in operation. The only modification I will make to my plucker is to extend the feather waste shoot down beyond manufacturer’s specs and angled away from the motor so the feathers don’t get sucked in and lodged up in there. This one doesn’t have the water valve attachment to hook up to hot water while in operation, so we used a bucket filled with hot water and that worked even better, plus it really stripped the feathers faster & flushed the feather waste out quickly. I highly recommend this plucker! Update 7/19/20: I’ve added pictures to show my simple adaptation to prevent the feathers from getting sucked up in the motor. I used a cutting board, angled it under the shoot with a rock and it works like a charm. I also recommend having an ideal scald temp (we use 148- 150 degrees) and a proper soak, it is key to not running the machine as long = less possibility of broken limbs. We put in less birds, doing two Cornish cross birds at a time, to minimize bone breakage and run the machine for a shorter amount of time. ... show more

  • Works GREAT
I've been processing chickens for 3yrs now. By far having a plucker even for small batches saves a lot of time. I was worried about the speed since it seemed slower than the ones I've rented but this one works just fine.

  • Great for full grown chickens
This works amazingly well on full grown chickens. Once you figure out the proper temperature for scalding, the feathers come off with ease. However, this is a little rough on young chickens. You end up with some tears in the skin for them.

  • A terrific timesaver (with a caveat about what seems to be a common problem)
First, the good: the plucker has wheels that allow for easy movement. There are plenty of "fingers" in the tub and on the spin plate to get the job done, and the job is done very well. It took maybe a minute or so to fully pluck a bird. I was doing one at a time, as it was just me doing all the processing, and there were very few feathers I had to pull after giving the birds a tumble. I suspect if I'd done two birds at a time, even those feathers would have been removed. I found the feet tended to get caught up in the fingers in the tub, so I removed the feet after scalding and before putting the bird in the plucker. The bad: one, the description lists this with a "Integrated irrigation ring, with standard garden hose connector". It does NOT have this feature. You'll need to use a hose to spray the birds while they are tumbling. In addition, I ran into the same problem quite a number of other reviewers encountered: it would not power on, despite everything being set up correctly. I contacted the seller, indicating I'd disassembled and then reassembled the thing, as well as ensuring the proximity switch was seated properly. Their support wrote me back, telling me to make sure the arrows were aligned and that the proximity switch was connected - things I'd already told them was the case, and even sent them a picture (that was better than the one they sent me) showing the switch correctly in place. It is a little annoying to have this sort of response, but the guy was polite, and the response relatively quick. The legs really need better bolts, as the legs wobble, and this allows the plucker to "walk" when it's tumbling birds. I disassembled the thing again, and had a look at the proximity switch and tub, lined them up and it felt like the magnetic connection wasn't very strong: there was about a 2mm space between the top of the switch and the bottom of the tub connector. I thought about just drilling up the screw holes in the connector a little to force it to sit higher, but then had a better idea: I have a bunch of tiny, circular magnets, ranging in size from 2mm to 10mm. I grabbed a 2mm magnet, slapped it on top of the proximity switch, and voila! The plucker powered on and spun. If you're going to be processing a lot of birds, this is a good investment at a reasonable price, and this product works very well to get the birds plucked quickly, taking off a ton of time in the processing. It can be a bit hard to clean, as some feathers can get caught up in and wrapped around the base of the fingers, but dealing with those is a pretty good tradeoff versus having to pluck by hand. Overall: recommended. ... show more

  • Feathers Be Gone In No Time!
The media could not be loaded. Works fast. Works great. We have processed 24 meat birds so far and it’s been amazing. Feathers come right off. Simple to use. Simple to clean.

  • Easy to assemble
Just received my clucker plucker and it is in perfect shape. I was worried it would be beat up from shipping because of some of the reviews I have read. I assembled everything that needed assembled, plugged it in and it worked just fine. I can't hardly wait to have it pluck my first chicken. I will update my review at that time. UPDATE: I have finally had a chance to use my plucker, and let me just say this, It is fantastic! Less than 30 seconds per bird. Due to our set up we can only process 1 bird at at time and this kitchener plucker paid for itself in the time it saved us. We had a couple of the larger birds retain a couple of feathers, but I think it was my singing temperature. All in all I highly recommend this plucker. ... show more

  • Good plucker for the money
You will have to build a base for this machine or it will dance around the room. That said, the machine works great on up to 8 lb birds and probably larger although I don’t know this.. We scald and pluck about 70 birds at a time. This machine holds up well and is the best I’ve ever used. A good value ... show more

  • Reassembly required
I haven't even used it yet but I don't have high expectations if quality control isn't important. I put all the legs on and installed the tub with the feather plate in it to the motor base only to find out the tabs to lock the tub to the motor base was at the top instead of on the bottom. I took it off and compared it to the instructions and realized the feather plate (the bottom piece that spins) was installed upside down but you can't just take it out and flip it around because the nipples on the tub are in the way. So now, I have to take off a retaining bracket that sits on the top to take the feather plate out so it can be installed properly. I would have returned it if I didn't need to use it right away because when I spend this amount of money on a product, I don't expect to have to disassemble it to install it. ... show more
