OMG!!!! If you own a kitchen aid and have kids, then you have to get this. If you don't have a kitchen aid but DO have kids, then get one. I have purchased a slushie maker every year for the past 10yrs. And every year, my kids use them til they won't work anymore. This attachment is amazing. No muscle work for anyone. Set it up, put the ice in, and turn the machine on. Best part is you don't have to run the machine. While it's shaving, you can get the flavoring out. It doesn't take long to shave ice, and you don't have to put the machine on fast. We put it on setting 2 or 3. This attachment gets used probably 5-7 times a day and it is still going strong. The little ice cups it comes up are amazing. I wish it came with more though. One of the little cups gives you a full red solo cup full of shaved ice. Again, if you have kids and they want slushies, GET THIS ATTACHMENT

Decided to let Bezos hold some of my money and try this out - my research online was inconclusive and photos/videos don't really do justice to things like texture so I figured I had to dive in to try it out. The good: It's easy to use and "just works" (provided you already have a stand mixer) There are four molds provided, so you can stockpile the little frozen pucks more conveniently It's fast: it makes short work of the little pucks It's just an attachment for your stand mixer so it doesn't take up much space in storage The bad: Each puck is only good for MAYBE a small shave ice that you would get from a truck or shop in Hawaii The components don't feel sturdy, I imagine this would last a year or two at most with just summer usage and the molds for the ice are paper thin plastic - these things are going to easily crack/shatter if you aren't extra cautious with them. This is the deal breaker for me, but even with the fine attachment the ice is still crunchy. This is a fine product and it does what it advertises; what it doesn't advertise clearly is the texture of the final product, but really I'm only docking a star for the durability (or lack thereof). If you and your family love snow cones then this might be perfect for you but it's no replacement for a proper shave ice machine. (Great Northern Popcorn makes a model, the "Snow Cub" that's been a pleasant surprise for me and it's only $250... compared to the $1500-2k for a Fujimarca, which is what most shops in Hawaii use)

Quality is sturdy, reliable, easy to use and clean. Fun addition to the kitchen aid! Definitely a crowd pleaser. Makes snow like ice, shaves it perfectly. Recommend for your next party. Kids and adults enjoyed this just the same. If only the kitchen aid itself was less bulky would keep this out on my counter. Recommend the storage containers to make the right size ice mound to fit inside the canister.

This product is AMAZING! Honestly, I wish I would have bought this sooner. I was always researching other shaved ice machines and nothing seemed to be the whole package... until NOW! This KitchenAid Stand Shaved Ice Mixer attachment was durable, versatile, easy to clean, and the directions were easy to understand. I like the design because it was labeled to help me fit the pieces together with ease. I only had a to wait for the water to freeze in order to deliver a yummy shaved ice for my 7 year old!

Got this shaved ice attachment as we've got a couple kids and have play dates at the house on occasion. We had a stand alone shaved ice maker that used ice cubes, but it was quite loud and felt like it was going to break at any moment. This unit is quite different. It feels very solid (like most of the kitchen aid attachments we've gotten - metal meat grinder for example), and although it has quite a few parts, it's pretty easy to put together. The molds for ice are a special size, and there are 4 in the box, but if you need more, they are kinda pricey. The other reviewers suggested making 4 ice blocks, removing and placing the ice in a zip lock bag, and making more to stock pile the ice. It takes some planning a few days ahead (depending on how many you need), but saves the extra cost. Of the fine vs course blade options, my wife and I preferred the fine version. I'd say at speed 10 on our mixer, it took under 15 seconds to chew through 1 ice block. Pull a lever, remove the base, dump the remaining piece of ice, insert new ice, and you can continue making more ice. Other than having a lot of pieces (not really an issue as we don't wash ours if we just use ice), we love the attachment. It's been working well in our testing, and we will be ready next play day (when it's hot outside). Overall, highly recommend.
