Burnished or coated beater included with purchase dependent on availability. KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air- infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. The bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. I looked on KitchenAid's website and saw that the 5qt Artisan was $430, so I came to Amazon to find it cheaper. I sorted by the lowest price, as one does, and found this thing for half the price. Now, I am the kind of person who NEVER buys used things because I'm always worried that the first person wanted to get rid of it because something was wrong with it. But since this said "FACTORY refurbished," I decided to look into it. I read the description about it going back through the factory inspection so that all the mechanics work perfectly well and the only thing that could possibly be wrong with it would be marks in the paint. It also comes with all the original parts (3 beaters, a bowl, and an instruction/recipe book) and a 6 month warranty. It had a 4.5 star rating with over 400 reviews, so I decided to buy it. I also paid a little more for the 2 year warranty, just in case. It had a couple tiny scratches on it here and there, but you wouldn't notice unless you were lookin for them. It was definitely worth it to get a perfectly functioning mixer for half price! Would definitely recommend this to a friend to save a bundle. Also thinking about buying a slash guard and a second bowl so I don't have to stop and wash it if I'm making more than one thing at once. ... show more

    • Two damaged mixers.
I received two of these mixers, both were damaged. The first came with scratches, dents, a bowed out silver band (where the speed can be adjusted) and a missing spring to hold on the attachments. The replacement mixer DID have the spring to hold on attachments, but had a two and a half inch long dent in the base. The claim on this description that this item should 'look and act like new' is false. Included in both of my shipments was a slip of paper that said they cannot guarantee against cosmetic damage. After spending hundreds of dollars I now have a mixer with giant dent on the base. ... show more

My kitchen aid is great!! I am having no problems with how it works, except an east fix. When I first got it I washed the bowl like normal and it gave off this gray/metal residue. I was worried so I looked up how to fix it and all you have to do is coat the inside with oil (it is olive oil but I used vegetable) and I filled it up with hot water. I let it sit and repeated just to make sure and it worked like a charm. Overall I believe this is worth the investment and a total steal!! I've wanted a KitchenAid for EVER but could not afford it. I found this certified reconditioned one and it was the best purchase I have ever made. I've used it 4 times in a week making Christmas cookies and it looked brand new and has exceeded my expectations. I've named her Ruby. :)

Loud motor sound when in use, even on stir mode. It heats up quickly too just on whisking egg whites. Nevertheless, it still works good enough & product looks brand new with no signs of scratches or wear & tear anywhere.

There was a small problem with the order, but 'always quality' customer service stepped up and fixed the problem quickly. Thanks guys :) The mixer was a gift for my elderly mother and she love this mixer! She has used it daily and has had no problems. She loves the antique copper color too.

    • Don't be afraid of refurbished.
LOVE IT! Works great and looks brand new, there are no scratches of mars of any type on the finish or the bowl. I like the handle on the bowl, helps hold it to get the contends poured into pan (s) and to remove it for cleaning. A friend has the suspended bowl type and is always grousing what a pain it is to remove and put back on. I was a little leary of buying a refurbished unit but it's from Amazon so I knew I would be taken care of if there was a problem so I went for it. The holiday baking season is starting so this little red baby is about to be used a LOT! ... show more

I love Kitchenaid and have never had an issue with mixers previous to this one but on this one, the attachment between the head and the body seems to be a little loose. This is not the case with most Kitchenaid product I've had before... this is my first issue. Also, it's best to just get Kitchenaid through them, for the warranty. You have that warranty no matter what but if you go through Kitchenaid instead of other people, that warranty is hassle-free. Kitchenaid is the best when it comes to warranty but they have issues handling their product when it goes through other sellers. You have to ask for a different department for the warranty in those cases. Kitchenaid twitter did well to help fix this for me but it's just best to buy through them. You can probably find them selling here, on amazon, too, so... just keep the heads up. ... show more
