KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. The bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. I write this enjoying an oatmeal cherry cookie, fresh from the double batch just whipped up in the new Kitchenaid. It arrived today- 4 days after I ordered it- Talk about SUPER saver shipping! You all know what a Kitchenaid is- so I'm not gonna sing the praises of the mixer in general- but I'll tell ya about mine: It arrived double boxed- and tightly packed. The inner box, the Kitchenaid box, was plain white with green "Factory Reconditioned" letters on the side. I was nervous about how close to new this really would be... I opened it up and set it on the counter- Yes, there are two small blemishes on it- on the side of the unit- they look just like two #2 pencil points. Not bad- I expected far worse to be honest. And I plan on making this a workhorse anyway- the Kitchenaid, to me, isn't a showpiece (if it were, I'd buy NEW.) Two small dots aren't enough to make me want to pay twice what I did on this one. I inspected the paddle (what I use most) blade- perfect- The dough hook was also perfect. Both came nested tightly in the inner styrofoam. The whisk attachment, which arrived attached to the unit, was, indeed, a little bent out of shape. A little pressure on two sides put it right back to normal. I remember the first Kitchenaid I bought (a base-power plain white one) had the same issue. Really, not a big deal at all. The bowl was perfect as well- no scrapes- solid handle. It took me a little while to unknot the plug- was wound up in the bowl. I prepped everything and set to work- a double recipe of oatmeal cookies. This is the recipe that would bring the lesser Kitchaid to its knees- it would do it, but it would complain the whole time. The mixer did just fine with it. I'm happy to report- all operation is perfectly normal. Fron the for-what-it's-worth department- I've owned 3 Kitchenaids now- they have ALL definitely made a different sound running at lower speeds than at the higher speeds. I would purchase again without reservation. Again, I make my appliances work for me, rather than just look pretty. Expect a blemish here or there- Expect the performance and quality of a KitchenAid- and expect it to arrive a lot sooner than you'd think.

The mixer I had before was ok. It did the job, until the electronic controls broke and the speed was kind of random. This mixer on the other hand is vastly superior than my previous Oster stand mixer, or my moms old Sunbeam (but she can't complain, she used it for 50 years). The biggest pros are the sturdiness and power of this mixer. It is also quiet and can do any job without lamentations. The standard stailess bowl is a plus too. I no longer have to worry about breaking it like I had with the old glass bowls. The 5.5 qt. bowl is a good size for me. I don't think I have any recipe that would exceed its capacity. Its smaller cousing may be too limited for weekend baker. The attachments are also easy to clean, and will probably never rust. My old attachments rusted a bit near the rivets because, I often will just let the dishes to dry in the dish rack. This is no longer a worry. If you think that you need the special chute to avoid messes, think again. This accessory is not at all needed. The refurb. model that I purchased did not have it. I had reservations about this when I placed my order, but after using the mixer, I soon realized that not only did I not need it, but it is probably a nuisance. This device greatest quality, sturdiness, is also the cause of its greatest defect; it is heavy. A frail person would not be able to handle it. This is not the kind of device that you can easily store in the cubboards. It is much better if you can devote counter space for it. I still have an unresolved question? Basically kitchen aid has two basic designs: one where the top part of the mixer pivots (my mixer) and one where the bowl goes up and down. I still wonder if one design is superior? I think that should be your only question when buying a kitchen aid mixer. I hope you enjoy this product as much as I did.

I love to bake and I can’t wait to cook make bread with this new mixer in. I know this mixer will be able to work the dough it was beautiful there was no scratches. Every piece was there that was said to I have used it probably 10 times making mountains of cookies for my grandkids. It is awesome because I can easily double the recipe and the bowl and machine can handle it, do what I did take a chance on this it’s amazing thank you

I got this to make dough for different biscuits and such and I had to wonder if buying a renewed version was the right move but in hindsight I can say it was. I saved a ton of money and it works as good as my 50 year old one that finally is giving up the ghost and will need a motor soon. Being an engineer, of course I took it apart after the warranty period was up and sure enough, it's not made quite as well as the really old ones (the metal wasn't quite as heavy duty) but I was surprised how none of the parts were plastic (not even the housing) and were all made of metal. The drive gears and anything that takes serious weight/torque was made of metal (not full steel I don't think, but some sort of alloy that I didn't bother to test) and there were no blemishes or shavings of any kind in the gear box or around the race bearing/bushings. I did go ahead and re-grease it all while I had it open, but overall I was impressed with the quality. Yes there were a few plastic parts as expected to keep the cost down, but nothing that would go out easily and none were gears. The plastics were confined to the electronics and connectors which is to be expected and the lid was made of a thinner gauge than the old one, but I am concerned with function, and this functions just as well. The rest of the parts (The paddle, the bowl etc) were all in perfect shape and I honestly couldn't tell if they had ever been used at all or not. Overall, saving around $150 was absolutely worth it IMHO. I hope you found this helpful!

This was a first, I have never bought a refurbished appliance, so I was worried, but I knew with Amazon Prime I could easily return it if I had an issue, so I gave it a shot, SO GLAD I DID!! It came in a box from Kitchen Aid, looks brand new and runs like a charm! It is extremely heavy and I have used it to make breads, cakes and all kinds of bars as well! I went out to play with my grandson and asked my husband to mash the potatoes, when I came In he had them in the mixer and they were fabulous!! Can’t say enough about mine, My husband ordered me the clear mixing bowl from Kitchen Aid for Mother’s Day, I love it. I love how you can see thru it and see how well your bread is kneeled! It came with the stainless bowl, two beaters, bread hook and instruction book! If I don’t know it was refurbished, I would have never known! I bought the extended warranty so that I would be double covered since it was refurbished! It is a win win!! ❤️

Fairly pleased, but the mix head wobbles more than seems right. I did check the neck screw from the hollow part, and it's tight. It seems new, only has a tiny flaw in the finish on the mix head. Looks very nice. Love the bowl with the big vertical handle. The motor seems strong and smooth so far. I have only made cookies, and it did well. The little black knobs on the levers to lock the mix head and adjust the speed have some sharp edges, but I learned how to not touch those edges. Hope it really lasts well, at least 5 to 7 years. My old one is over 30 years old and went to a new home for occasional use. Amazon shipping speed is the best-lightning fast!

I have looked at and drooled over KitchenAid Artisan mixers for years. But at prices north of $300 this KitchenAid didn't seem like a reasonable investment for me. When I saw the reconditioned machine on Amazon for an astonishingly low price I thought, "why not?" I love to bake and make bread and, particularly for bread making, most stand mixers don't hold up well. I've had my mixer for about a month. I have made bread and tons of Christmas cookies. I've whipped egg whites and whipping cream. I've whipped up garlic mashed potatoes and pumpkin bread. I cannot say enough about this wonderful machine. It is truly heavy duty and you never have to worry that an extra thick dough or batter is going to burn the motor up. The description of "factory-reconditioned" was a machine that had been returned to the factory and brought back to "like new" condition," but may have a small blemish. Mine has a small ding in the white finish but it is so small you wouldn't notice it if you weren't expressly looking for it. I love this mixer! It is substantial--a serious cooking and baking tool. Yes, it takes up precious room on my tiny kitchen counter, but I'm happy to have it there. If you crave one of these mechanical monsters, but are on a limited budget, I highly recommend a reconditioned KitchenAid. This machine on Amazon was less expensive than the small, four quart classic on sale at Kohl's or WalMart--and it is a bigger, more powerful machine. You just can't go wrong. At Amazon's price, it is truly a deal.
