  • DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!
Style: MF269dw Laser Printer
So of course I had reservations about this product after reading all the reviews about how hard it is to set up, isn't truly wireless, can't print from other devices, etc. Soooooo I just got this printer delivered and hooked up last night and found it extremely easy, but I do have to say, the manual that comes with it is not very helpful. My husband and I went directly to the Canon website and there is literally a how-to video on how to set up everything from start to finish. I literally had it set up and working in less than an hour. So complaint # 1 squashed. Complaints # 2 and 3 kind of go hand in hand. So using the how-to video, we set the printer up directly to our in-home Wi-Fi. If you have an internet connection and you can connect to it with your phone, tablet, etc, your Canon printer will connect to it too. You just have to put in your Wi-Fi password directly onto the screen on the printer using the alpha/numeric key pad. Not hard at all. Complaint # 2 squashed. Then we test printed from my computer, which is the main computer in the house, my husband's lap top, (which he did install the printer and driver on his laptop), printed fine. We test printed from our phones and that worked too! And we didn't even have to install or download Apple Air Print or any of the other aps that the reviews mention. Because we set it up wirelessly to our Wi-Fi network and our phones are obviously on the same network, we were able to print without a problem. Complaint # 3 squashed. Now with all that being said, I do think this printer is better suited for at home use than in a busy office environment. I'm used to large heavy duty Kyocera 3 in 1s that are much faster than this machine, especially duplex copying and scanning. But for a compact machine that can do all these functions wirelessly?? It's amazing for at home use or use in a small office. I love the product and am extremely pleased with my purchase! You can't get better for the money! ... show more

  • Does what we need, and well.
Style: MF269dw Laser Printer
I"m updating this review after 5 months of use, and upgrading the rating from 4 starts to 5 stars. As I wrote below, there were some problems with getting help with setup, but once set up, this has been a great machine for our small office. It works reliably with far fewer paper jams and errors than our old HP, it's so quiet it doesn't annoy anyone (also an issue with prior printers), we have learned to use more features (e.g., scanning multiple pages) as we've needed them, and without having to contact tech support. Generic toner works well, keeping our ongoing costs low. Very satisfied., and planning to get one for my home office too. Sept. 2019. (From April 2019) : Overall, this printer is doing the job we need it to do. As many have noted here, there is a learning curve with setup and use. Tech support, once you reach them, are very helpful, BUT: They have limited tech support hours (10:30-6:30 M-F), the tech support is essentially unreachable on Mondays - wait times of an hour - and there is no online chat tech support available. I don't understand why Canon is so stingy with tech support. To go over the functions: Printing is easy to do and problem-free for us. We don't experience the text print quality as too light; we don't print graphics, and we haven't yet used two-sided printing in the month we've owned this. Copying is also problem-free. Faxing works as expected. Scanning is harder to set up, and we still haven't figured out how to scan multi-page documents, but we will probably get to that in time; did I mention that there's a learning curve with this machine? So, Pros: it works for us in all basic functions, is quiet, a small footprint, and can probably do a lot more than we will ever learn to do. Cons: Not simple to learn, tech support is not as available as one would wish. ... show more

  • Set-up was tough
Style: MF269dw Laser Printer Value Pack
When I needed to replace my ink-jet printer, I decided to go laser. I sometimes have to carry papers outside, and I was tired of working to keep my papers completely dry in any mist or rain. I am happy with this purchase, now that it is set up. It works as you'd trust and expect a Canon to work. What you DO need to know is that the set up manual is not easy to follow. I tried Googling to get help and was not successful there either. I did not call the company; instead, I called our local computer-geek who came out and, after about an hour, had the whole thing set up: printer, copier, and scanner. Fortunately, he didn't need a manual. ... show more

  • So far, so good. It works!
Style: MF269dw Laser Printer Value Pack
My previous printer stopped working wirelessly due to software updates. I followed the installation instructions provided in other reviews (basically downloading and install files from the Canon web site). I had a minor problem with scanning because that requires going back to the Canon web site to download and install another file. In all it probably took me an hour to set up. It's been about a month and everything still works. I did not need to use tech support. The printing is clear and clean. The scanning is reasonably quick and good quality. That part could be more intuitive but I now have it successfully scanning to my computer when the right menu selections are made. ... show more
