Description

The KitchenAid® NSF Certified® Commercial Series 8 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer features a stainless steel bowl guard and a powerful, 1.3 HP Motor. Horsepower for our mixer motors was measured using a dynamometer, a machine laboratories routinely use to measure the mechanical power of motors. Our 1.3 horsepower (HP) motor reference reflects the horsepower rating of the motor itself and not the mixer’s horsepower output to the mixer bowl. This robust motor, the backbone of our new mixer, delivers .44 HP to the bowl enabling your mixer to deliver consistent power to small and large loads with less heat build-up; resulting in years of dependable mixing. When Combined with, and guided by our new advanced motor control board, this is our longest lasting and most efficient motor yet. Simply put, our new, highly efficient, special purpose motor delivers the power you need when you need it.

  • Heavy Duty Transmission Well Worth the Investment!
Style: With Bowl Guard Pattern Name: Mixer Color: Empire Red
I am extremely pleased with this mixer! This our 4th KitchenAid mixer in 25 years. All of the others are still running like new - we just needed more. We wanted a heavier model for making various types of dough. Dough is the toughest thing for a mixer to mix. The commercial models have a completely redesigned transmission. I don't know exactly how the transmission has changed internally as they are now sealed and part of the motor assembly but it is now a right angle configuration. Previous models employed several gears which were prone to more rapid wear especially when making larger amounts of dough. It appears the motor is now in direct alignment/coupled with the accessory connection. The entire transmission mechanism is much simpler with fewer moving parts and the result is a significantly quieter mixer. Another benefit of this new transmission design is no leakage of grease as the mixer ages. Previous models after many years would begin to leak grease because the grease would break down and separate. This required periodic overhaul of the gear case where the old grease needed to be completely wiped out and replaced with fresh food grade grease. The mixer when running at high speed is very smooth. It depends on which attachment is being used and how well balanced it is. We purchased additional 8 quart and 5 quart "J" handle bowls designed for this mixer. The 5 quart is great for making small batches. The only thing is the bowl guard doesn't cover the gap between the top of the 5 quart bowl and the bowl guard because the dimension between the attachment tabs and the top of the bowl is much shorter. We also purchased 1 additional paddle, dough hook and wire whip available here on Amazon so we could prep or clean while another batch is in the mixer. One other major improvement is the wire whisk/whip. The design uses 11 wires configured more densely in a rectangular profile. We noticed that egg whites whipped significant faster vs our Pro 6. I think it is because the wires are positioned non-symmetrically so they are always whipping through in a different area of the ingredient being whipped. Everything that could possibly come into contact with food is made of stainless steel including the planetary and bowl guard. The attachments are significantly heavier especially the dough hook. The dough hook is not balanced and the manual warns to not run the mixer beyond speed 2. I ran a test and the mixer will wobble across the counter if it is run at high speed with the dough hook attached. The bowl guard is a great safety feature and extremely easy and non-intrusive to use. We especially like it when small kids are near the mixer when it is running. It will prevent their fingers getting inside where this stronger horsepower mixer would likely cause significant injury. ... show more

  • Don’t hesitate to do business..the 8QT mixer is fantastic
Style: With Bowl Guard Pattern Name: Mixer Color: Empire Red
The mixer is just like it was described. I was tentative because some of the reviews talked about thinking they were buying new mixers but when the one they ordered showed up, it was obvious it wasn’t new. SO I called customer service BEFORE I purchased anything. I was transferred to the woman that handles the KitchenAid appliances. Not only was she knowledgeable, she was sweet and answered all of my dumb questions before purchasing. I say dumb not because I’m new to KitchenAid. I wanted to first and foremost understand how they were able to sell the same mixer that was on the KitchenAid site for so much less. I came to find out that because of the volume they buy, they can offer such good prices. She entertained my questions about returns, warranty, shipping, motor size and how to read the codes on the site to determine the differences in mixers. Not new to KitchenAid at all. I have a 5 Qt mixer that after 14 years, had some gear problems. I’m going to get it fixed and use it as a spare, but because I make double and triple batches of cookies, I needed a bigger bowl. This mixer is great. It came brand spankin’ new in the box, not opened and not touched by anyone but me (LOL). As I mentioned previously, I was a tad bit concerned because of all the reviews that talked about motor noises when the machine was first turned on. Especiallly because this mixer is a bit pricy. I heald my breath, turned it on and the mixer is quiet as a mouse. No abnormal noises and works flawlessly. I was also reassured because of the great time I had talking with customer service BEFORE buying, that I was sure if I had a problem, returning, exchanging or getting my money back wouldn’t be a problem. DON”T hesitate to do business with this company. The product is just as described and no problems. Lastly, I’m a firm believer that if customer service will spend 10-15 minutes on the phone with you before you buy anything, there’s a high probability that when you do purchase, if something goes wrong, you’ll get the same level of service or more ... show more

  • High quality professional grade Mixer
Style: With Bowl Guard Pattern Name: Mixer Color: White
Very easy to setup once out of the box. 8 quart bowl hold triple and quadruple batches of dough if needed. Loads of power to work through the heaviest of doughs and light enough for delicate mixing of ingredients when needed. Using at my organic market to mix up several batches of scones, muffins, and specialty breads without the need to stop, empty the bowl and start again. It's a workhorse and a huge upgrade from our 5 quart KitcheAid mixer. ... show more

  • NEGATIVE STARS!! DO NOT BUY!! EXPENSIVE JUNK COUNTER ORNAMENT!!
Style: With Bowl Guard Pattern Name: Mixer Color: White
NEGATIVE STARS!! If I could give this KitchenAid Professional Stand Mixer NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD!! I am so angry with this substandard mixer. I saved up my farm sales for a couple of years for this mixer, $1,100, and it’s the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased! My old KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer is still going, I use it for everything: cookies, cakes, ice cream, whipped cream, butter, desserts and breads of all kinds. I grew up cooking as my parents had a restaurant. And at 62 yrs, I am still baking bread nearly every day for our family, neighbors, friends and my farm customers. I desperately needed a larger stand mixer. I worked hard kneading bread by hand and selling my breads to fund my new mixer which was supposed to make my life a little bit easier. I saved every penny from my farm sales to buy this KitchenAid Professional Stand Mixer. Well! The Professional Stand Mixer DIED, motor seized just a month after the warranty expired! And I did not over work it. I only used the mixer to mix and then knead one loaf of bread dough at a time. I also used it for making butter, whipped cream and cookies. Everything else is still made with my Artisan Stand Mixer. I tried calling KitchenAid, no answer, it just rings and rings, no recording, nothing, and I’ve tried different numbers that were both in the warranty manual and ones that I found online. Nothing! I don’t have the funds for a new mixer, so I am back to my Artisan Stand Mixer for everything, which severely limits how much I can do; I cannot use it for my breads as I cannot find a dough hook for the Artisan Stand Mixer, and my doughs are a bit too large for the smaller bowl. And I am back to hand kneading my bread doughs. So maddening. I am so thoroughly and utterly disappointed and disgusted with KitchenAid. And I am truly sick of buying expensive JUNK! Where is the quality these days? Do yourselves a favor, DO NOT BUY this KitchenAid Professional Stand Mixer, it is JUNK, you’ll be wasting your money. Don’t make the mistake that I made. Buy something else of better quality because KitchenAid went downhill and is now in the toilet. ugh ... show more

  • Amazing customer service Amazing customer service
Style: With Bowl Guard Pattern Name: Mixer Color: White
Bought this kitchenaid 8qt for Christmas and it's awesome. However, there is a lot of dough at the bottom that's not getting mixed. I scrape the bowl 10 times during my process but in the end I always have cream from the bottom that I have to hand mix. I tried to adjust the blown with the set screw but it came from the factory already maxed out. I called kitchenaid and I was blown away by the customer service. I expected they would make me send it in leaving me with our small kitchenaid classic that we got 22 years ago when we married. Not even close, kitchenaid is sending me a replacement and they are even sending me a red one to replace the white. I was prepared for a fight. The customer service I received today isn't common any more. ... show more

  • A Home Bakers Dream!
I had a 6qt that I burned out after about 8 years. It was refurbished when I bought it. This one is a work horse, so far. I did have an issue initially but KitchenAid has a 2-year total replacement warranty so they replaced the mixer with another one! This one I've used now only about four times. The most recent was for Bagels and Salt Sticks, one requiring a 10 minute knead of a very dry and stiff dough. It bogs down then adds power to the motor (at speed 2) and pulls through like a champ. Very quiet for a stand mixer. Little rocking even with off balance loads like when kneading. No fear of it walking off the counter. The wire guard at the top is a bit of a nuisance (it comes with a metal funnel to mount on the cage) but better than getting my hand or a utensil into the works.I suspect it could easily break fingers or worse. It's very strong! ... show more
