  • Impossible to clean
This machine works on a well-established principle, i.e. squeezing fruits to extract the juice. However, the blade that cuts fruits is not very well designed and it frequently leaves pieces (enclosed photo) especially of oranges and apples. Also, the output does not have any pipe and as a result drops of juice are splashed back on the bottom (another photo). The mesh that I used most started rusting (another photo). To top these, the machine is very hard to wash, especially the drainer - typically, for 3 oranges and one apple that I had for breakfast, it took me 4 minutes to prepare fruits (they need to be peeled and cut because the chute is not very wide) and get them juiced but another 10 minutes or more to wash details - the parts are NOT dishwasher safe. I decided to return it though the seller probably won't accept that because it was used. But I can not imagine how one can learn the above w/o using it?! ... show more

  • Love it!
***Update 11/07/16*** After making delicious carrot juice, I was in the process of cleaning everything and didn't realize the removable spout fell in the garbage disposal (it was off at the time) and when I went to turn on the disposal I heard a clunk clunk clunk and immediately turned it off. I stuck my hand in the disposal only to find, to my horror, the spout. I called Kitchen Aid to order a new spout, expecting to pay upwards of $35.00 or more for it's replacement, and they offered to send me another for free. I want to say, I LOVE KITCHEN AID! They are the best! *************************** I'm sooooo glad I got this! I've been using it almost every day! I've been juicing kale, cucumber, carrots, radishes, lemons with peels, and other items and I don't have any issues so far. It's a solid piece of equipment, unfortunately all plastic, that looks great. Clean up is a breeze as I rinse everything off as soon as I'm done and I brush the screens out immediately so nothing gets stuck and hardens. The screens are a little confusing that there's no instructions on to which screen to use. There's three of them labeled High, Med/Sauces and Low pulp. I wasn't sure if the screens mean, as an example, High pulp to be extracted and thrown away or High pulp to be collected with the juice. I first used High pulp screen in my carrot/radish juice and I ended up with lots of pulp in my juice so from then on I used Low pulp screen for my kale juice and very little pulp was in the juice and went into the disposal cup. On a side note I have a 300 watt mixer, which I've used less than 20 times so far since I got it, and it got really hot on the top. Not sure if this is normal. ... show more

  • Your Look No Further Masticator!
I am going to attempt to write this review without sounding like an infomercial... Impossible! First things first, if you do not have a KitchenAid Mixer - you need one in your life. Second, this juicer is your look no further masticator. Available to you at only a third of the price of a typical masticating juicer, with fool-proof assembly instructions, easy cleaning and a fraction of the noise I have heard from other juicer videos I watched when searching for the right one. I had a centrifugal juicer that I was unhappy with because it is so limiting. I could make apple and carrot juice but when kale and bananas were thrown into the mix there was no hope. With this juicer, I am able to juice anything my little heart desires, it has the capacity to juice, puree, and sauce - so you have copious options, and did I mention its easy to clean?? I waited until my second time using it to review just in case the ease of the first was beginner's luck BUT nonetheless this juicer is perfect! It comes with carafes to catch the juice and pulp so you really don't need to supply any parts either (except the KitchenAid - which you should already have - because its awesome). The pulp expelled from the juicer is nearly bone dry. I picked it up and ran my fingers through it today and every bit of carrot and beet just fell off because there is no moisture to cause it to cling. I LOVE THIS MASTICATOR! Seriously, my juice is waiting on me, physically, on my counter because I was so excited to leave this review that I couldn't wait until after I drank my lovely vegetable concoction! Cheers to you, fellow buyer, this is a winner!!! I have zero cons to note! ... show more

  • and it works fine.
Admittedly I don't use this heavily, but it has been flawless for me. Handles both hard vegetables such as carrots as well as soft fruits reliably. Yes, this juicer is slow, by nature of it's design, and if you are expecting to make juice by the gallon, as another reviewer mentioned, you should look elsewhere, perhaps at more commercial grade products. It is intended to make juice by the cup, as the picture on the product page shows. The body is plastic, but all of the load-bearing parts are inside the plastic housing are metal. And if you think about it, all consumer-grade stand-alone juicers on the market are also plastic. You also have to make sure you insert the attachment fully into the mixer with the pin loosened enough to ensure it goes it freely. Only then should you tighten the pin, perhaps even while continuously applying pressure to the juicer until the pin is tight. That way you ensure that the pin goes into the divot on the juicer. If you are breaking pins (or anything else) or the juicer detaches while in use, you did something wrong. There is no design flaw as other reviewers mentioned. Otherwise, this thing has handled everything I threw at it, often applying a lot of pressure to hard vegetables with no issues. All parts are machine washable except for the base, and a quick wipedown of the base with a wet paper towel gets it clean. If it bogs down on you, that means you are trying to juice hard vegetables too fast, and you should ease up on the pressure. I am using a several decades old mixer which is less powerful than some of the more modern ones, and it works fine. ... show more

  • I wanted to love this juicer but it really didn't work
I wanted to love this juicer but it really didn't work. As to some practical problems: It's not that much smaller than other juicers, so it didn't end up being space-saving. Because it hooks onto the kitchenaid, it actually is very tall when in use and ended up blocking my cupboards. It was very difficult to clean--it probably took me a good 5 minutes to scrub down, largely because of the screen. There are so many pieces to this machine that it would take up all the space on my small counter for hours while it dried. The pulp chute did not work at all on mine because the flap was defective. The machine was also very difficult to attach, again because of a defect with this particular machine. Getting it off was also difficult and therefore messy, with juice and pulp flying everywhere as I would yank it off. And, worst of all, it actually did put some dents into my kitchenaid where the machine attaches and the screw tightens down the attachment. I was genuinely worried it would break my kitchenaid. As to the juice: It did not juice well; I ended up getting large chunks of vegetables and fruit in my juice, in addition to all the pulp that would escape into the juice anyway. It made for an almost chewy drink. It did take a long time to juice, and I could not juice very much before the entire machine would get clogged up (partly because of the defective chute, but partly because of the machine's design--the auger can only work through so much at a time, and so you just have to wait for it to slooooowly process whatever you are juicing). I sent it back because of the defects, but I did not buy another one. I ended up splurging on one of the omega masticating juicers, which I love because it works well, juices relatively quickly, doesn't jam, is easy to clean, and doesn't take up a ton of space in my dish drain. BUT, the kitchenaid was significantly cheaper than my omega, and I think this would be a decent machine for someone who doesn't juice very often and isn't bothered by the slow juicing and cleanup time. I mostly juiced leafy greens and root vegetables in this machine. It might work better for fruit. It does seem like it would work well for jam. For what I needed though--an easy-to-clean masticating juicer that would juice primarily vegetables--this machine did not work. ... show more

  • This is not a good juicer
This is a very slow juicer. Carrots and other hard vegetables bind up in the single auger (which is plastic) slowing down the RPMs on the motor and juicer attachment. It does work but it takes 90 minutes to make a gallon of juice. It does not juice leafy vegetables very well. There is too much space above the initial cutting blade, which allows leafy vegetables to get trapped in the space, which then never enters into the grinding section of the juicer. There are 8 pieces to the juicer that have to be cleaned when you are done. They do seem to be dishwasher safe, however, the strainer cup has to be hand washed in order to remove all of the fibers from the screen after juicing. Beet juice and carrot juice does not always come off of the parts in my dishwasher. Beet juice has not stained the parts as far as I have noticed. This juicer works at low RPMs, even when you have the kitchenaid mixer turned up all the way. As you put vegetables into the juicer, the initial stainless steel cutting blade cuts maybe .25" slices of the item. These slices drop down inside of the grinder where they pass through a single auger, pressing out the juice and separating the pulp. Please note, the valve to turn off juice flow drips like crazy when in the off position. Lay down a towel or switch receptacles quickly while juicing. Given that this item is mostly plastic and does not have a motor but rather relies on the power of the kitchenaid mixer, and compared to the cost of other juicers that perform better, I would expect the price of this item to be much lower. This product would be rated higher if it were priced under $100. I recommend that you pass on this attachment for your kitchenaid and buy a similarly priced stand alone juicer. I think you will be disappointed with the results of this product. ... show more

  • Broke twice. Design needs improvement
This review to share our experience. NOT put down KitchenAid. I liked the idea of having multiple baskets; allowing for juicing with or without pulp or making sauces. However, the performance was not what I expected from a company with such a respected reputation. #1 issue. It broke. We were running carrots, apples, leafy greens, bell peppers, and oranges. After about a week the motor would turn but the central piece, that I don't recall the proper name of, would not turn. The juicing attachment would jump like the you might see if there were teeth broken on a gear.. We called KithenAid and they sent a replacement. That took 7-10 business days! Really? Day two it broke. I am attempting to get our money back. #2 Very hard to reassemble. The top with the feed shoot has very little forgiveness. For some reason it requires fussing with to get all the pieces to line up just right so the top can rotate into place and engage the safety to allow you begin using it. #3 Lastly, the blade. The attachment has blade similar to those seen in a food processor to slice food. While this allows the user to skip a step whereby they have to cut the food into smaller pieces to fit into the mechanism, in my opinion the risk with such a fuzzy device during assembly, is not work the step. We found a juicer by another manufacturer that doesn't require a "cut it smaller' step, it actually pulls the food down into itself and breaks it up on the way down. Carrots snap and pop and are consumed by the juicer. It's also much easier to assemble and clean and doesn't have a hazardous blade. In summary, slow service, fragile design, frustrating assembly, and hazardous blade. I still very much like KitchenAid and will continue looking for attachments. However, I will pay closer attention to reviews ... show more

  • Works wonderfully, but......
I had a chance to work with this appliance and after processing about 4 quarts of apple juice it siezed up and would refuse to turn at all. I submitted a request for replacement and that was processed within 5 days. When I received the replacement appliance, it again worked for approximately 4 quarts of apple juice. I took apart the gear case and greased the drive shaft with WD40 and reassembled. I was then able to process the other 12 quarts of apple juice that I had produce for. The only thing that prevented this from being a 5 star review, is the seizing issue. I believe a simple modification to the design on KitcheAid's part would solve this issue. Adding a bearing or bushing to the drive shaft would solve this issue and make this a super appliance. ... show more

  • Great unit for what it was intended for!
For what this unit was designed to do, it functions great! However, if you are wanting to juice a gallons' worth of juice you might want to consider getting a larger stand-alone unit. I juice individual cups of juice for my wife and myself almost every morning and this unit is perfect for that kind of juicing. It is slower than some of the larger units we have had but the juice also comes out much "cooler" and to me it tastes a bit fresher - probably because of slower speed and less heat involved. I've read how this is a real pain to clean, but I haven't found this to be any worse than those larger machines so I'm not sure if those reviewers ever had to clean a larger juicer. The included containers KA provides are adequate but on my 6qt mixer I have to put something under the container to get it a bit closer to the juicer or I do get a lot of splattering around the counter. Bottom line: I would highly recommend this unit for individual juicing, but for higher volumes you might want to get a dedicated juicer. ... show more

  • Love it, but sometimes it sticks.
Received it as a gift. My daughter and I juice a couple times a week to make sure we're getting our veggies. It does really well once you figure out to do your leafy greens first (frozen spinach cooked in the microwave is our go to) followed by fruit (frozen fruit that's been allowed to soften for an hour is sufficient and cheapest) with plenty of water throughout the process. It has jammed up a few times though. The first time I cleaned it all out and tried again with no success. I was about to return it the next day when I gave it another shot and it worked. This has happened a few times and always works again after a few hours. I'm pretty sure the culprit is overloading it by not adding enough water. Not really sure why it stills takes a few hours even after I clean out the thick veggie/fruit sludge. ... show more

  • I like it!
Decided to use it for a while before writing a review. For me it works quite well. The only downside is that the mixer itself doesn't seem to have enough torque for the pressing and you can hear the juicer attachment really strain through some veggies or fruits. I cut everything before putting it through, I go slowly and it works for me. The pulp comes out quite dry. I was using a centrifugal juicer before and this extracts way much more juice. I payed below $100 and I am happy. But at full price $200+ I guess I wouldn't be. All in all it was a good option for me to jump from a centrifugal without committing several hundreds dollars on a slow juicer. ... show more

  • Good attachment
This attachment works quite well. Just make sure you align the red arrows on the lid to the main unit before running the motor. The pulp/no pulp slide is a little confusing at first, but through trial and error, it works great at adjusting how much you want to let through into the juice. It extracts a good amount of liquid from vegetables and fruits. It seems like it will be great for making tomato sauce, but have not tried it yet for that purpose. Clean up is pretty standard fare for a juicer - many parts, but they rinse off very easily if done right after usage. Not a five star because it's hard to find a compact way to store the attachment when not in use. ... show more

Made some carrot/apple juice for the first try. Right at the end, it froze up and now I can tell that the gear housing is frozen up and the pin that keeps it in place sheared off. I will edit my review if customer service helps us out, but for now, I do not recommend this product. I really like this product it does everything that it was advertised for. It is a little complicated to put together but once you've done it a few times it's very simple. I have noticed that if I put a heavy load to it it can slip, however this is not a common problem and is easy to keep from happening. Just do not try to force a lot of stuff through very quickly. • Everything tastes better freshly squeezed
I wanted a juicer but did not want to by another appliance to clog up my counter. We already the KitchenAid stand mixer. So far I have made several juices and fresh tomato sauce. Everything tastes better freshly squeezed; the only drawback is it is kinda a pain to lug around and clean but it think the cleaning is the same for any juicer. I did my research before purchasing, the mixer motor has more than enough power to squeeze the juice out of anything and the juicer itself is made well. It is also several hundred dollars less than a stand alone comparable model. I would do it again. ... show more
