  • This works perfectly on low for 8 hour recipes.
Style: Standard Lid
This is the slow cooker for you if you like to set up those recipes that take 8 hours plus before going to work. Many slow cookers today cook too hot, even on “LOW” and over cook all recipes that are supposed to take 8-10 hours. Most slow cookers have overcooked the meal by 6 hours on low, but now this one! This one really takes 8 hours and then switches to keep warm. For everyone that works 8 hours and doesn’t want to come home to something that is charred, this is the solution!! I am soo happy with it! ... show more

  • This takes longer to cook my whole chickens than my Hamilton Beach did.
Style: Standard Lid
My Hamilton Beach took 4 hrs to cook a whole chicken and it was falling off the bone. This Kitenaid takes 6 hrs.I think it would cook faster if there was a gasket around the lid. Plus the lid seems to fit really loss. I do like the handles better than hamilton beach. Kitchenaid handles do not get as hot, I can pick them up without a pot holder. I wish I could return it, cause I do want another Hamilton Beach instead of this .Its pretty but not as functional. This is going to be on Market place soon. Please don't waste your money because America test Kitchen recommended it, like I did. The Hamilton beach lid fits very snug on the ceramic container, the lid on kitchenaid is 1/2 inch gap if I push it to one side or the other. I actually wonder if its the correct lid, but it did come with it. ... show more

  • Great Slow Cooker !!!
Style: Standard Lid
We purchased this slow cooker to replace an older model that had a non-stick surface. Pros: - Pricing - Easy to use - Ceramic pot insert - Good Size Pot - Neat cord tuck away under unit Cons: - Easy Serve Lid (Ridiculous price) We have used this Slow Cooker for several months now and it has been fantastic. I read a lot of negative reviews on this item and decided to try it anyway as it was one of the more reasonably prices ceramic pots on the market. Two, I have several KitchenAid appliances and they seem to put out a solid product. Some reviews state that the slow cooker has issues getting things hot or cooking potatoes or veggies. My use of this product has been different. I can sear and brown meat in my slow cooker on high if needed before the slow cooking process. Other reported that they are unable to cook beans after hours of cooking. I also can report my unit does just fine in this area as well. We have made multiple recipes requiring the cooker to soften beans and it has powered through these recipes without any issues. All temperature settings work on my unit as designed and as yet this product has performed admirably and produced some delicious meals. The pricing for the Easy Serve Lid was $65 more. I paid $75 for the Slow Cooker with the Standard Lid. That is almost as expensive as the Slow Cooker. Does it have motion detection and open for you?!!?!? I don't get it .. that is my only real gripe with the product. My last Slow Cooker had a retractable cord. This does not but you can still easily stow the cord under the pot. So I have to give this unit 5 stars. I has been great so far and showed no signs of wear. I will update the review if that changes. But I definitely would buy this product again. ... show more

  • The lid did not fit the base
Style: Standard Lid
I really wanted to keep this crock pot, however, the lid was not big enough for the pot. There were gaps all around the edge. There was no way this crock pot was going to work. Sadly I had to return it.

  • Like others have said, it's a SLOOOOOWWWWW cooker
Style: Standard Lid
I bought this one after a stellar review on America's Test Kitchen. They must not mind that it takes like 10 hrs. or more on high (forget about low and medium) to cook a small beef stew. I returned it because I'm concerned it doesn't get hot enough. I don't need my slow cooker to boil everything to a pulp, but I do want to at least see it bubble a bit on high. The search for a decent slow cooker continues. The previous attempt was a Hamilton Beach that said 6 qt. but only held 4.5. Sheesh. ... show more

  • Great customer service. Good product.
Style: Standard Lid
We had the unit and on the third use it would not heat up on high. Called customer service and they were great. Sent replacement and paid for shipping the defective unit back to them. Love the unit.

  • I wanted to love it!!
Style: Standard Lid
I wanted to love this Kitchenaid. I read all the reviews that said it doesn't get hot. I bought it anyway, and told myself that a slow cooker would necessarily cook slow. When I received it, I was delighted at how beautifully it was packed. The metal housing that seats the ceramic cooker was very impressive, so well built, thick walls, and nothing tinny about it. Good quality, and very esthetically pleasing. The electric cord also is a no nonsense heavy guage high caliper quality, that shouts "I mean business" Again, impressive. 5 stars all the way. So I got right to it. I filled it 2/3 with water, and turned it on high ... 18 hours later I was still waiting for a simmer. "I got not one single bubble." I used 3 different thermometers periodically, and slid them in a tiny space at the edge of the lid , so as not to open the lid and lose any heat. After 24 hours barely getting the temperature past 185 degrees F, I deduced that I was going through ridiculous gyrations. So the problem with this beautiful well built little appliance is that it simply doesn't work. Just as an after thought ... the shape of the cooker is a narrow oval, making it tricky to fit a ham or a whole chicken, where as the same size Crock Pot brand is a much more round oval. This is the second time that I gave a nod to America's Test Kitchen, and was completely perplexed by their results. They could not possibly have tested this machine and given it the prized first place. Makes one wonder about the integrity of America's Test Kitchen! Perhaps someone should begin a real company that cuts down on the hype, and rates products according to their true value, and ability to perform. After two tedious attempts to get this cooker to work, I returned it and bought a Crock Pot brand, Crock Pot 6 quart SCCPVL610-S-A. It is in my kitchen making bone broth right now, and doing a great job. ... show more
