  • The Absolute Best Toaster I Have Ever Owned
UPDATE: Now that I have had this toaster for several months and have used it every day and sometimes more than once a day, I can absolutely say that this is THE FINEST TOASTER ON THE MARKET FOR SALE IN THE US HANDS DOWN. I was streaming Chicago Fire Season 5, Episode 1 where Lt. Kelly Severide was making a sandwich on toast. And guess which toaster the firehouse station had in the kitchen? Yep, you probably guessed it correctly. It was this toaster. So if it’s good enough for the firefighters in Chicago especially in a poor neighborhood like the show is filmed in, then it must be an excellent toaster. Kidding aside, in the four or so months I have toaster gosh knows how many slices of bread I have toasted I have never had even one slice popped out of the toaster any differently from the previous 500+ slices toasted. Simply stated, it toasts absolutely the same way time after time. Both sides of the bread are toasted evenly time and time again. With this toaster, I get no streaks down the bread. It toasts each slice from the center to all four corners. No toasters I have purchased, regardless of brand or money spent, and returned has ever done this. You can’t go wrong with this KitchenAid toaster. It even beats KitchenAid’s $500.00, die-cast aluminum toaster and it saved me money in the long run. I don’t know about you but I will and did and has paid any amount of money for a toaster that works—meaning toasts perfectly (evenly) slice after slice—and hated all other toasters. And by the way, this particular KitchenAid toaster is not light in weight. Though not as heavy as the KitchenAid die-cast aluminum toaster, it is heavy enough so not to tip over when pressing the leavers down to start the toasting process. If there is a downside—and I don’t consider it a downside but others might—it toasts bread slowly. On the #2 setting, it will give you a medium-golden brown color piece of toast. Setting #3 is too brown for me and will most likely will be for most other Americans. In closing this update, I want to leave you with one thought. I.only hope that if you purchase this toaster and there are problems with it that I did not encounter, please return it to Amazon for another toaster rather than letting the 30-day time to return items lapse. And please consider purchasing the extended warranty for three or four years. You may never need it but if you find it breaks down in need of repair a year or so later, you will be covered. It is an inexpensive ‘insurance policy’ that you will be glad you have. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ There are toasters and then there are toasters. I have purchased and returned so many toasters that I can’t count how many only because they can’t toast evenly on one side much less both sides. The brand handmade in Sussex, England and the toaster that is Retro are the two most expensive toasters I have owned were OK but simply could not toast evenly on both sides. Bagels came out un-toasted. Just heated for the most part., These two mentioned above cost several hundreds of dollars and it just goes to prove that paying that kind of money does not guarantee a buyer a great toaster. I have also purchased several inexpensive toasters ranging from $30 to $45 but to no avail. All these and the ones I have already mentioned may toast fairly well on one side but the toast comes out toasted but with striping. However, I have now found THE TOASTER that can and does toast a piece of bread as it is made to do. And it’s rather moderately priced. Inexpensive, not really. But for the the toast it produces, I have to say it is inexpensive. I mentioned that other toasters produced a striping effect. This comes from the heating element. However, for some reason, this does not happen with THIS KitchenAid toaster. A friend of mine owns the heavy and big KitchenAid toaster but it costs $500.00. The reviews are pretty good. But $500 for a toaster? To each his own, I say. There are only two things you might find lacking on this toaster: two functions are missing that are found on most other toasters which are ‘Defrost’ and ‘Reheat.’ I don’t put anything frozen in the toaster and I don’t have any need to reheat any item in the toaster. Other might disagree. Why KitchenAid left these two functions off I cannot say; however, it does seem stupid to do so. It’s a great toaster and I hope that other buyers will agree. ... show more

  • SO glad I got it (DESPITE reading so many neg "reviews")
Surprised at how much I REALLY love this toaster. I skimmed the reviews then ordered, and while waiting I went deeper into reviews and was instantly regretful. SO often we can't trust the positive reviews, now you have to wonder motivations behind negative ones. I was fully intending to return unopened, then on a whim decided to try it, then return if those reviews were correct. First thing we did was get a timer going, and started on level 3 for toast (so many reviews stated "burned at 1". Forgive me, I lost the scrap paper I wrote each trial time on but all trials were FAR faster than I was lead to believe. Also 3 for my thick-ish Oat Nut bread, was just slightly too little. 4 was ideal for that. If you have thinner white bread I would try 2 or 3 to start. Knowing this I knew that English muffins would need to be at least 5, and they required 5 + a bit longer (PAY ATTENTION on that part, then "cancel" when you see it's done). We've been using it for about 3 weeks now (I will definitely update down the road if anything changes), and we love it One star was deducted for the LOUD TONE that happens at the end of a cycle and can't be disabled (I am going to put a warning label on it with my label maker, because despite knowing it does this, even after 3 weeks, it scares the hell out of me every time. Strangely my dog & 2 cats with Feline Hyperesthesia (freakishly jumpy cats that can't be in the room for a blender) don't even blink. This would be an easy fix for Kitchen-Aid...just look to the Cuisinart coffee maker's disable tone button and work it into manufacturing. HOWEVER, if you're a space cadet like me that tends to start the toaster, surf the internet, then forget about it, it is helpful in that respect, lol. Also, if being picky, the feature where you can put the levers UP to get toast out easier, doesn't raise quite enough to easily get English muffins. Definitely helps more than other toasters, but again, that's my picky observation. The toasting itself though, spectacular. I've has all different brands in the past, and this is definitely the best of all of almost entirely Chinese-made toaster sector has to offer. I'd gotten rid of our old toaster years ago, because I'd hoped that our all-in-one Kitchen Air toaster oven/airfryer/etc, but OMG is that not the worst at actual toasting in not only length of time it takes, but not even toasting most of the bread. Everything else about it is good, but they fail at just toasting in the multi-unit, but do a great job with this dedicated toaster. Both sides of bread toast evenly UPDATE 3/11/25 Still loving this thing, and I can't believe how good/evenly it toasts. I've clearly been missing out for decades. The 'done' alert still scares the h*ll out of me but has been totally necessary because I forget when off distracted somewhere. I just leave it on level 4 now since that's perfect for bread, and since English muffins take longer than 5 anyway, rather than remember to switch I just restart it on 4 (but STAY TO WATCH it). You might actually like English muffins just at 5 without restarting, but I tend to like mine more done/dark. If you want to SMILE everyday you can get the wooden Squirrel Toast Tongs (brand FOTN, sold by OTMOTMO ) on here and prop them on a magnet hook on the side of the toaster. Bonus you won't burn your fingers on small English muffins. I am irrationally excited about those, lol. ... show more

  • Love this toaster!
This toaster is a definite upgrade over my last. Toasts perfectly, the “done” tone is clear/audible, and I very much enjoy the look!

  • Great Toaster!
I’ve been looking for a toaster for quite some time but reviews (not just on Amazon) prevented me from purchasing anything on the market- too expensive to have to fight with the toaster or the manufacturer! Then I saw this one, read the reviews and took the leap. Best $75 spent ever! The instructions and description of the unit helps to understand how it works so a person doesn’t expect something that the unit cannot do. No more burnt toast! Started with the #3 setting and went from there. Remember that there is a certain way to put in the bagel because of how the toaster is designed to work- you will be happy with the results. Very happy with this purchase and if something changes then I will do an update. Happy toasting! ... show more
