I received my KitchenAid KFC3516CU 3.5 Cup Food Chopper ("food chopper") a week early which I love. I purchased it for the purpose of making "Candied Grapes" aka "Candied Crack Grapes". The recipe required a crushed hard candy, i.e., Jolly Ranchers. Initially I tried using a mortar & pestle; that did not work at all. Next, I tried a hammer. While that was better I was concerned the couple beneath me would complain to the HOA. Amazon has several listings for a 3.5 cup food chopper. Wanting to make sure the one I purchased would chop hard candy I read the reviews and posted questions. Most with the exception of the KitchenAid did not think the food chopper would work. Just to make sure I called KitchenAid. The woman with whom I spoke confirmed it would chop hard candy. In fact it ground it down to almost a fine powder. Very impressive. The only negative is that I had a hard time removing the lid. I had to go on-line to find a demo. Even the woman in the demonstration indicated she had difficulty removing the lid. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. This is a quality mini food processor. KitchenAid is a well known brand with a long history. While the chopper may cost a little more I'm sure that I will own it for years and that it will serve me well. ... show more

Just got this and was attempting to clean it for the first use … took watching a video on YouTube too see how it goes apart. But what nobody told me and I had to figure out was between the two lids there is a hook. Behind that hook is a little rectangular piece. It needs to be removed before the black top will detach from the clear top for cleaning. After you do that it is easier to separate the two pieces. ... show more

I have had both. I did not like the cuisinart at all! Both the cuisinart and the kitchen aid are difficult to clean - they are small. However, the cuisinart is very difficult to operate if one is pouring something in small increments - ie oil for dips/mayonnaise. You have to hold down the button with one finger while trying to pour. I had to prop it on something or it would dance along the counter. Much easier with the Kitchen Aid. This is a little food chopper with a big attitude. I was able to puree a plantain to make plantain dumplings for my soup. I can make pico-de-gallo and sofrito (spanish mix) just to name a few things with this little guy. I am very well pleased with this purchase!

I don't like the amount of plastic in the blade assembly. It does however chop onions and green peppers like a dream. Easy to assemble and easy to clean. In viewing other brands and costs, the manufacturer using plastic is similar across the board. I would buy again. I did like the color selection.
