Makes espresso shots as good as I could pull with my portafilter machine and I love the automatic true double shot capability. I’m not going to expound on how great the espresso is or isn’t, that’s too subjective, I think it’s great but to each his own. And with all the online info covering capabilities and specifications I won’t address that either. I will say it is a well-made machine, maybe not perfect (who is) but what I would call a high-end solid piece of equipment. However… there are a lot of reviews I believe related to a common issue of clogging, I have experienced that so I’ll tell you what I know. After a week or so my first unit developed bad issues with the brew head clogging daily, after just 2 or 3 pulls. Sometimes during extraction little or nothing would come out then it would explode with a loud POP! and steam would come billowing out the side. Had to remove and rinse the brew head in the sink every day to keep it happy. KitchenAid actually sent a new unit with one easy phone call. The replacement unit works great and it doesn't clog as bad or as often. It will clog after about a weeks worth of brewing (minimum 2 shots a day). I assume this is normal? If you pull more shots a day then it will clog sooner. For my use, pulling the brew head and rinsing in the sink weekly keeps the operation and extractions consistent, it's not a big deal and is recommended anyway. I see a lot of reviews describing smoke or steam coming out the side, water leaking and reduced or no espresso volume. I’ve had all these issues and it was just the brew head getting clogged causing overpressure and water/steam escaping. Pulling the brew head and cleaning with a rinse in the sink should restore normal operation and extraction. I found running the automated brew head cleaning process on the machine didn't help, it's good for flushing the lines and dispenser head but not really cleaning all the grounds from the brew head. Most every “super auto” espresso machine has easily removable brew heads for this reason and is going to require a manual cleaning / rinsing but how often in comparison I don't know. We just got this machine yesterday (10/01/25 and I’m blown away! From the moment I unboxed it, it felt like a premium product. The setup was surprisingly simple, and once it was ready, it pretty much did everything for me. The espresso comes out smooth, rich, and with a perfect crema every single time. I’ve already tried lattes and cappuccinos, and the milk frother makes them café-quality with zero effort. It’s literally push-button convenience without sacrificing taste. I also love how sleek it looks on the counter—modern and stylish, but not oversized. Cleaning is easy so far, which is a big plus compared to other machines I’ve owned. If you want amazing coffee at home without the hassle of grinding, tamping, and guessing, this is the machine to get. I honestly can’t believe how effortless it makes the whole process. It started as great coffee maker. The issue is in the inadequate ventilation on the unit. We have diligently followed the manufacturer instructions and prompts for maintenance only to discover mold around the brewing unit and grounds collected in bottom tray. All we did was left for the long weekend and we live in the dry climate. Contacted Amazon trying to return this item but we were told it’s too late and the window for return has closed. We contacted Kitchenaid and were told that the only thing they can do for us is to send us the replacement machine. Nobody cares about health hazards anymore. I guarantee that the new replacement unit does not have redesigned ventilation outlets and the same problem will happen again. We remove what we can and clean everything on a weekly basis but we were actually suggested to do it on a daily basis. It takes about 1/2 hr to clean it right. It this the way you wanna enjoy your morning cappuccino?

Should have gotten a super automatic along time ago. We did not because we are picky about maintenance and aesthetics as well as coffee quality. The black looks amazing on our black countertops, the maintenance is trivial with freaking animated pictures, and the coffee quality is fantastic. There are a couple tiiiiny niggles like I wish I could save more than one version of the same drink in my profile (small drink x, large drink x) but you cannot. Easy enough to work around by creating a large profile and a small profile but tbh we have never bothered. Top quality in every way. Could not be happier

This machine is extremely well made and even more well Thought out. This is truly one of those things that once you have it, you wondered how you ever lived without it and you know that you could never go back to just a regular coffee pot. On a scale from one to 10. 10 being the highest point that I could give. Hands down this is a 15. Very well-made all the parts are well-made. There’s nothing that is cheap flimsy or cheesy about this machine. The coffee is incredible and the aesthetics are beautiful. Don’t wait to get one today because you deserve it.

LOVE this machine. It is so easy to use and keep clean. The machine automatically does a cleaning every time it is turned on or powers off. Results are very consistent. Large water reservoir and bean hopper. Your biggest chore is emptying the drip tray and used puck receptacle which takes only seconds. If you want great coffee but don't want to make preparing a cup of coffee your hobby, you should definitely check this machine out.

BEWARE: you will note highly inconsistent reviews of this machine — for a reason. I bought this machine and it failed after 2 weeks. Others love it. It’s a good machine when it works. However - this machine is apparently produced in TWO different factories in TWO different countries. Though many sites say it is “Made in Switzerland”, my unit was actually made in Portugal according to the specification sticker found when you remove the right panel. Older floor units I have seen firsthand sold by Williams Sonoma and Crate and Barrel are instead actually made in Switzerland. Different plant. Different machine. If you know anything about superautomatic machines, this is a BIG difference. The top Jura machines are Swiss made. Second rate models made in Portugal. I got “B stock” from Amazon and it broke in two weeks.

I recently tried out the KitchenAid Fully Automatic Espresso Machine (KES8558BK), and I’ve got to say — it’s a really solid pick if you want café-style drinks at home with almost zero effort. It’s fully automatic, so this thing grinds the beans, brews, and even steams the milk for you with just a few button taps. You can make everything from espresso and americanos to lattes and cappuccinos, plus even plant-based milks work thanks to its dedicated mode. The touchscreen interface is intuitive, and I liked that you can customize drinks and save your favorites — especially handy when everyone in the household likes their coffee a little differently. The bean hopper is removable, which makes switching beans super simple. As for the drinks themselves, the espresso is smooth with a decent crema, and milk drinks come out creamy and enjoyable (even oat milk frothed nicely). It’s not quite barista-level, but for a home machine that does everything automatically, it hits the mark. On the flip side, it’s a big machine — takes up a good chunk of counter space — and it uses quite a bit of water during its cleaning cycles, which means emptying the drip tray more often than you might expect.
