Description

The KitchenAid Artisan Series Stand Mixer has a strong 325-watt motor that delivers the power to handle the heaviest mixtures, and mix large batches easily. The 5-quart polished stainless steel bowl with ergonomic handle is big enough to handle large batches of heavy mixtures. Its ergonomically designed handle is contoured to fit the hand and makes lifting the bowl more comfortable. The flat beater, dough hook, and the professional wire whip add to the versatility of the mixer. The flat beater is the ideal accessory for mixing normal to heavy batters. From cake mixes to firm cookie dough, the flat beater mixes quickly and thoroughly. The dough hook mixes and kneads yeast dough, saving both time and the effort of hand-kneading. The wire whip incorporates the maximum amount of air in whipped mixtures for fluffier whipped cream and angel food cakes. This model also includes a 1-piece pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base. The tilt-back mixer head allows for easy access to bowl and beaters. KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. This model also includes a pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. --Betsy Danheim

  • Pizza Dough With Ease
I have wanted a pink Kitchen Aid mixer for years. I got a nice bonus from work and decided to treat myself. I work at a bakery and know how much easier it is to use a stand mixer for cookies as opposed to the hand mixer I have used at home for years. What I didn't know was how easy it would be making pizza dough in one of these. I love pizza and when I stopped eating white breads several years ago, it was the hardest giving up pizza. It was then that I discovered a delicious recipe for whole wheat pizza dough and began making my own pizzas. It was so much work, though, all the kneading the dough required to make sure it was the correct consistency. Upon receiving my mixer, I put it to work immediately - I wanted to see if/how it would make pizza dough easier to make. IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN EASIER. I put the dough hook attachment on, threw all of my ingredients into the bowl and turned it on. The hook mixed the ingredients very quickly and once everything was mixed, I increased the speed and let the pizza dough knead away for 15 minutes while I sat down with a good novel! At the end of 15 minutes, I pulled the dough off the hook and let it rise according to the recipe directions. When it came time to bake and eat the pizza, I was amazed. The crust was amazing. The best crust I have ever made. I chalk it up to FINALLY being able to knead the dough the way that the recipe intended for it to be kneaded - and my forearms and hands were not sore the next day! Since then, I have made cookies quickly (and somehow, using the mixer, cleanup seems quicker) and the butter and sugar was so much easier to cream than using the hand mixer. I will not give up my hand mixer just yet, but from my experiences with my new Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer, it will definitely be my second choice in mixers. Oh, and as a side note - the pink color is GORGEOUS. Reminds me of that 1950's pink that used to be in my Aunt's kitchen. I love it and am going to decorate my kitchen around the color of this mixer. You can't go wrong with this color pink! ... show more

  • grind meat and vegetables and spits out pasta like a pro
Color: Silver Metallic Size: 5 Quart
This is replacing a still working 26 year old lift bowl KitchenAid stand mixer. I finally got tired of wrestling with the beaters/bowl combination with the lift head. That mixer never dropped the bowl low enough to be able to either scrape the bowl well or remove the bowl from the mixer. I would have to remove the beater EVERY time. Also, that lift head mixer was the ONLY one that didn't have a scraper beater available. I got the color that was the cheapest at the time (Contour Silver) as I really didn't care what color it was as long as it was somewhat neutral. The machine is a workhorse for me as I'm not about to start a baking business. It mixes several batches of cookies at a time, does large cake batters . . . basically what it is designed to do. If you are doing professional baking, buy a 7 quart lift head. This is NOT designed for that kind of work. All my attachments (pasta maker, pasta rollers, grinder, shredder, juicer, sausage stuffer) all work well. Thankfully we can rely on KitchenAid to keep their power hub standard across their line. The motor has enough power to shred hard cheese (if you are trying to shred soft cheese, almost freeze it before shredding), grind meat and vegetables and spits out pasta like a pro. The stainless bowl is heavy duty without the extra weight of the glass or ceramic bowls, and also doesn't shatter. The bowl cleans like a dream with just a swish of hot soapy water but is also safe for the dishwasher. I have always hand washed the attachments, blades etc. so I've never experienced any problem with rusting, chipping or any other damage to the peripherals. Great Machine. ... show more

  • Kitchenaid MIxer in Pink is versatile
I bought this Kitchenaid pink mixer from Amazon, and it was shipped very quickly. I liked that it was packaged inside another box so its contents weren't revealed. I am a single parent, and an appliance like this is a luxury. The included wire wisk, dough hook, paddle, and spiral bound recipe book meant we could use it right out of the box. It mixes much better than my hand mixer. So far we've made cookies, flour dough ornaments (thick mix), pies, jello salads, and more. I haven't tried it for bread yet because we got a breadmaker at a yardsale for $10 that seems to work great, but will try that soon. I've also bought the optional attachment to shred cheese and vegetables and plan on buying the icecream and pasta ones too as homemade stuff tastes so much better! ...And I don't even really like to cook until now since tasks like shredding cheese (the pre-shredded cheese don't taste as good to me), mixing mixes, etc. a breeze. It seems sturdy and well made but only time will tell. I am glad I got the tilt head model. It mades it easy to add the initial ingredients or put the attachments on, and the included clear plastic shield means no mess when adding additional ingredients. The shorter height fits under my cabinets nicely even allowing me to tilt the head back. The PINK color personalizes it for me so I am going to have to find a way to match my kitchen to it now. :-) ... show more

  • It's Great!
I have wanted one of these mixers for quite some time because my hand mixers were of very poor quality--one motor smelled like oil every time I used it and two different sets of beaters got rusty. I was tired of dealing with the problem mixers and felt as though I was wasting my money, since I had to replace them a few times. This is a substantial mixer and is definitely worth the money. It will probably outlive me! (HA HA). It has 10 speeds and you just add the ingredients in the bowl and the mixer does the rest. Very easy! Everything is smooth when mixed, and it works quickly. It's awesome. I love it and should've bought one much sooner! The handle on the mixing bowl is a big necessity--especiallly if you've ever dropped a bowl of cake batter while attempting to empty it into the pan while using a spatula, like I have. Not fun. Having a handle on the bowl is a good value--I debated about getting the lower model instead of the Artisan mixer. I'm glad I went with the Artisan model for that reason. The mixing shield is a good feature as well. ... show more
