This works well to remove any lids from cans. The tops are cleanly cut and no sharp edges. Some cans have some rubber like sealer under the rim and that makes it slightly more difficult to lift the lid. They do not pop off like you may be used to. It can be a little stressful on the batteries. Cheap batteries do not seem to last as long as better quality batteries which seem to give better service. It seems slow, but remember it's hands free so you can go about other tasks while the can opener is running - that saves prep time.

When I first got this, I kept all the packaging as I was expecting to return it. The first time I used it, I thought it hadn't worked as I saw no cut in the lid and it didn't come off. When I picked up the can, the lid just popped off. You have to get used to how to use it, placing it properly at the rim of the can and tilting it slightly so the the cutter and gear engage (definitely does not work if the lid is dented) You also have to get used to the fact that it doesn't cut into the top of the lid like a regular can opener, but rather around the rim. The biggest flaw in it is that the magnet that is supposed to lift the lid off is too small and weak, so to get the lid off you have to gently push up on the rim. Once you get this right, it really works well and is quite entertaining to watch. I was starting to have trouble with using a manual can opener. This does a great job and is easy to store in a drawer, instead of having to take up room on the counter.

I've always used a manual can opener, but it was time to replace the old one, so I decided to try electric. I love that it's small and fits easily into a kitchen drawer, and I like that it runs on batteries so it's never discharged when you need it, and you don't have to be near an outlet to plug it in. I also like that it doesn't leave a sharp edge on either the can or the lid, so if you're prone to cutting yourself you don't have to worry about that. However, it doesn't work well on cans that are not the traditional round shape, or - at least in my limited experience - ones that are small, like cat-food cans. And, depending on the size of the can, the magnet doesn't adhere to the top of the can, so it doesn't lift the top off when it's done. You do have to exert a certain amount of effort to remove the top.

I’ve never been so disappointed in a kitchen gadget in my life. This can opener is a complete waste of time, money, and counter space. From the moment I took it out of the box, it refused to work—not on soup cans, not on tuna cans, not on anything. I thought maybe the batteries were dead, so I swapped them out with fresh ones. Nothing. I tried different sizes and brands of cans, thinking maybe it was picky. Nope, still a useless hunk of plastic and metal. The instructions are a joke—barely legible and no help at all. I even wasted an hour troubleshooting, double-checking the alignment, pressing harder, softer, every which way. This thing just sits there, mocking me with its lifeless whirring noise that does absolutely nothing. It’s not even worth the effort to return it—it’s going straight to the trash where it belongs. Console junk at its finest. Do yourself a favor and buy literally anything else. I’d give it zero stars if Amazon let me.

When available, I always look at videos for recommendations. I loved the videos of this cute little gadget right at the time my old upright died. It looked so easy and I loved the pretty aqua color. I bought a red one for my daughter because after the first few frustrating tries, I found it to be a 5-star item. When I tried it at first, it took a little getting used to and a few times it HAD actually worked but it didn't LOOK like it did; I fumbled trying to get the lid off. Because it doesn't look like the old way of opening, I had to rethink my approach. Now I realize even I could do a video because it's like high school algebra. At first you think this is stupid and doesn't make sense. After something clicks in your head, the mist clears and you can open cans all day and think what a wonderful idea someone had. Couldn't say 5 stars at the beginning because my initial effort failed. I'm sure other people just turned it on and used the can but if you get one and are annoyed, just try it a few times and you'll love it!

This can opener is the bomb. It opens the cans cleanly and leaves a edge that won't cut your fingers. Easier to recycle those cans using this too. Mine started going on and on around the cans even when the lids were clearly cut. The lids would be spinning under the opener and it was just buzzing away. It's really pretty noisy but no more so than any electric opener. But when it won't stop the noise becomes annoying. I had to physically pry the opener loose from the cans, often spilling valuable contents. I sent the maker 2 messages about their product but haven't heard back yet. Today, after placing new batteries in the opener and attempting to open a can of dog food it slowly cut about a half inch and died. It no longer works at all. Call me skeptical and Stupid but I just ordered their updated model today. Update! 12/14/23. Kitchen Mama refunded me the full price for this opener. I've since changed batteries a third time and it is working again but still rotating multiple times. The KM staff showed me a diagram of this model that has a reset button on the side. Next time I open something I will update this review if that fixes it. I'm hopeful it will. The 2.0 opener I just bought works good but it has to be manually stopped after opening cans. I thought it was supposed to auto stop but mine doesn't.

I absolutely love this! Opening cans got a whole lot easier. Our regular opener wasn't working well anymore, because the cans are made slightly different now. But this opener works like a charm. It just takes a moment to get used to it.

I had a stroke back in 2014, I am unable to use my left hand so bought this when needed to open cans works as indicated bought this three years ago still working great never used on a number 10can just like tuna size, but I'm sure it would work.
