Kirby has never steered me wrong. I shampooed my carpets and it was easy and efficient. They look just like they did when we moved in 3 years ago. I should also mention we're a family of 3. We have 2 inside dogs and a cat. Needless to say, there's a lot of high traffic areas in our house. It left my carpets smelling so great! Plus it has a scotch guard (kirby guard) that lasts up to 6 months. It removed all of the pet accidents especially some horrible diarrhea fiasco that our large dog had the other day. Carpets usually really gross me out. I don't let babies on the carpet but now I'm confident that my baby will be able to play on the carpet and not have top worry about the filth. But the best thing, besides clean, fresh carpet...is the fact that I did my whole house and it was completely dry within 45 mins and its completely fine to walk on it right after its been shampooed. Love the fact that it only uses 10% of water on the carpet. Its almost like a dry shampoo only better because it works with not saturating the carpet (which will void the warranty on your carpet. This shampooer will NOT void the warranty on your carpet because it doesn't saturate the back side of the carpet. Therefore, the padding stays dry so there's no risk of mildew. If you have pets and don't thing l think your house smells like you have pets you need this shampoo more than anyone today. We are just to our furbabies stink stink and why wouldn't we be. They are the best of us all arent they. Well beyond that obvious facts are sometimes in life that calls for having other folk in your home surgery for meeting then marrying your perfect child, or a client , or any other reason people will be in your home they should have to eat a meal or discuss home equity loans to avoid talks while smelling fee fe's stank booty. The easiest and allergy friendly tool is the kirby home cleaning system which has the long lasting efficent shampooing system that shows you to eminent eliminate allergens and the actual Oder from your carpets, mattresses, drapes, car interior and did i mention it dried before your done the job. But unless you add the kirby shampoo for pretty odors then your just putting a cheap calogne to cover a weeks with of stress sweat my stinky friend don't do it. It's a lil more expurgation expensive however it works, a little goes along way, and the smell you'll gladly take over fee fes stink stink...oh and the whole system will most likely outlive you. So yes kirby takes a minute to learn, and the shampoo is more expensive than Bissell is earned that price tag with landfill full of Bissell plastic you'll be hard pressed to find a entire steel based system in one. ... show more

I got an amazing deal on a 2 year old Kirby Sentria II a few weeks ago for less than $300, in mint condition and with all of the attachments. I thought it would be great to try out the shampoo system because my carpets really needed it after our Chihuahua decided it was okay to occasionally pee in the house. I vacuumed several times first and even though I had vacuumed with my old vacuum just a day earlier, I was still able to fill an entire bag using the Kirby... gross... Anyway, once we weren't pulling up anmore dirt, I switched over to the shampoo system and boy was I impressed with how this shampoo formula worked! *** SMELL *** The smell is pleasant and not overbearing. It has a "professional" smell to it as if we had a professional carpet cleaning company come in and do the work. *** THE RESULTS *** The results were great with just a single shampoo and simply AMAZING with a second shampoo. The shampoo system empties pretty quick so when they say it does one small room on a tank, they're not kidding. We pretreated and used a Bissell spot cleaner on the actual pee spots before we shampooed the second time as it didn't remove the stains the first time around. *** ONE WEEK LATER *** The urine smell is gone, as is the "professional cleaner solution smell" which is great. Now that we have a solution to our bad doggie problems, we're going to keep working with him but at least we have something to clean up the accidents. *** CONCLUSION *** The price is a little steep for what you're getting (and how much of the solution it takes to do the entire house) but the results really help justify the price. I highly recommend this formula if you have pets. The Kirby isn't the greatest of shampooers (that's not what it's main purpose is) but it holds its own and with the help of some good solution, it works great! *** How did it work out for you?     • Easy to use, easy on migraines
From potty-training children to house-training puppies, from marrying a mechanic with greasy boots to being an avid gardener myself, I LOVE this shampoo. I use it on EVERYTHING soft--car upholstery, furniture, and (of course) carpets and rugs. I've found it works best as a stain remover if you pretreat the area with a spray bottle of the concentrate (which also means that you don't need as much shampoo for the entire area when you use the full shampoo system). Also, a a stain treatment, the best way to work it in is your own fingers, followed by a terrycloth towel. I started having problems with my softest nylon brushes tearing apart my couch and carpet. Using my fingers is gentler on the fabric and seems to achieve better saturation of foam. Does not work well on grease stains, but dirt, oil, grass and blood (our dog had a tumor that ruptured!) all came out nicely when treated immediately. As for urine: I've read reviews saying it's great, but I'm a believer in vinegar and ALWAYS pretreat urine with vinegar and a water rinse. Perhaps I will try omitting the vinegar treatment and update my findings here. UPDATE: I tried it on a fresh urine spot without pre-treating with vinegar. Close to the carpet, the smell of urine is still very evident, so I am pre-treating with vinegar and proceeding to clean the area again. Odor: I suffer terrible migraines and have to be careful with cleaning products, as most of them trigger migraines for me. The odor of this shampoo is light enough and disperses quickly enough that I've never had a migraine using it, even in an enclosed room in winter, or the leftover odor from cleaning the car. It's very pleasant and smells wonderful. Ease of use: one of the main selling points of this shampoo for me is that I can allow it to dry then vacuum it up, rather than saturating whatever I am cleaning with rinse water. It dries quickly and I've had no harm to my vacuum from running it over a still-damp area to help the drying process. For deep cleaning, I still rent an industrial steam cleaner, but this helps with the spot cleaning and lighter shampooing (and even pre-treating prior to steam cleaning) and makes a deep cleaning an annual instead of a quarterly event.
