  • Worth every penny.
Size: 512GB
I use it for transferring video files and it works flawlessly and fast. The drive feels great and it is great quality but it is a little on the large size however it's 1 TB so it is worth the bigger size. Although the bigger size isn't all bad, I regularly have to plug it into my TV and the bigger size makes it easier to insert and remove it without being able to see. ... show more

  • Fast, High-Capacity Flash Drive
Size: 1TB
I’ve been very impressed with the Kingston DataTraveler Max 1TB flash drive. It’s extremely fast compared to typical USB drives, which makes transferring large files or backups quick and easy. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface allows it to reach speeds up to about 1,000 MB/s read and 900 MB/s write when used with a compatible port (I read that), which is unusually fast for a thumb drive, but this is exactly why I picked it out. I also like the sturdy design and sliding cap that protects the connector when it’s not in use. With a full terabyte of storage in such a small device, it’s a convenient way to carry large photo libraries, videos, or project files without needing a larger external drive. ... show more

  • Great so far.
Size: 256GB
Definitely does around 400MBps. Haven't had a chance to test out 3.2 gen 2x2 speed, 800-1000MBps. The cache seems to be around 5GB. It is lightning fast to about that amount and then slows down to about 80MBps if the file is bigger than 5GB. Based on info on the web, that is normal. When uploading big video files to it, it gets very warm but not unreasonably hot. Happy with it so far. If one is looking for a bigger cache, nvme's in a usb enclosure is the way to go. Movespeed has a flash drive with a much bigger cache but it is more expensive. For the price the Kingston datatraveler is great. All drives are slower when uploading many small files to it. The high speed is for few big files. ... show more

  • Fast, durable, looks a bit weird
Size: 256GB
Works great. Very fast, goes about 300 MB a second for 5 or 7 gigs then slows down to 100 MB a second. Fastest usb stick I have. The Bad: it looks really long and weird. I've been using it for about 3 years now so it seems pretty durable though.

  • better than the cheap 3.0 trash
Size: 512GB
you need to format the drive first. pretty nice quality, and fast transfer speeds. putting 5-10gb from the drive onto a pc takes a minute? maybe 2 at an average of 300 mb/s? instead of the 3.0 drive taking half hour+ at 10-15mb/s. its obviously more expensive.. but time is money! wish the stupid usb guard did something. ... show more

  • Excellent Drive
Size: 256GB
Great 256gb drive. Quality as you would expect from Kingston Have using it regularly for a year and it's performance has been flawless. The only negative I could possibly give it would be it's size, which is about 3.5" long, but that in no way affects its usability.

  • So glad i splurged for larger size - this is a GEM
Size: 512GB
I just bought two USB Gen 2 sticks. One was a brand I had never heard of, so I wanted a name brand (Kingston or Samsung or Hynix) to make sure one wasn't terrible. Well the good news on my off-brand stick is it was way better than expected. But then I put in the Kingston. I don't understand how it is so fast. I expected the 1000 MB/sec to be balderdash because even physical NVMe hard drives - and I am talking the best - reach around 750 MB/sec. That excellent off-brand Gen 2 usb stick I had just tested (and expected to be slower than an actual NVMe CHIP drive) came in at 550 MB/sec and I was super pleased. My kingston stick - 995.88 MB/sec - how?!? Thats faster than hardware CHIP drives! More impressive was total lack of degradation in speed - for those who do not know, that fast speed is Sequential Read, the fastest operation for a usb thumb stick. random read, then sequential write, then random write always slow down - a *good* USB Gen 2 stick might throw up a 550 MB/sec Sequential read, and end with 300 to 325 MB/sec random write, the hardest category. This Kingstons scores - 995.88, 996.74, 947.90, and 927.01 - minimal degradation! instead of a 40 percent downspeed from highest to lowest scores, this was roughly only a 7 percent decrease - it can Write as well as Read like a champion! Flabbergasted, I did not research and saw "Kingston is a rare breed for it is the first thumb drive that integrates both SSD controller and USB interface in a single-chip solution". They call this tech DataTraveler Max - and it works!!! Only cons - the plastic case, which is great for a plastic case, is still a plastic case. Its highly durable, but that means increased heat trapped. Although I got a 512 GB stick... I'd watch the temps if I tried to copy a massive data load all at once. But yeah its twice as fast as I expected USB Gen 2 to even be capable of, faster that NVMe chip-based external hard drives, and its write speed is three times as fast as a good Gen 2 stick. Strong recommendation from expert user, one who has learned a lot from buying cheapo stuff and crying. ... show more
