  • Great purchase!
Size: 15 Cubic Feet
I was able to fit luggage up top which opened up space. I had myself and 2 adults traveling with me and my 3 full size golden doodles. Kept my luggage dry!

  • Needs instructions, but pretty good once you figure it out
Overall, I'd say this is a good cargo carrier for the price. I haven't used it in rainy weather, so I can't comment on how it holds up there, but it seems sturdy. The biggest problem with this cargo carrier is that there were no instructions included in the package. Once you get it figured out, it's simple enough, but based on my experience and some of the comments made by other reviewers, it most definitely needed instructions! Perhaps the most useful thing I can do here is address some of what the other reviewers have written. The lock: 1) Yes, it's a cheap lock. It only has 3 digits, so it wouldn't take long to find the combination by process of elimination. It doesn't feel particularly sturdy. But the worst thing about it is that it doesn't operate super smoothly. The reason I say that's the worst thing about it, and not that it would be easy to pick and possibly relatively easy to break is that I don't think it's the weakest link in this cargo carrier's security. Unless you could make the straps uncuttable, I don't think a thief is going to focus on the lock. They're going to cut the straps, toss the whole thing in the back of a pickup, and drive somewhere else before trying to get into the bag. The lock's job is to it harder to open the bag than to haul it off and open it elsewhere. I would not leave this bag on the roof of my car at a hotel overnight, but that has nothing to do with the lock. 2) The lock did not come with instructions. I had to figure out that the initial combination was 0-0-0, and that the combination automatically gets set to whatever it is when you close it. So there, now you have instructions for it. The straps to hold it to your roof: 1) It has 4 straps for attaching to your roof, not 6. (Technically, it has two straps that each attach at both ends. Unfortunately, there are no instructions included to tell you this. What it has is 6 thinner straps to use to tighten the bag up so that it doesn't flap around if it's not full, plus the four (or 2, depending on your POV) thicker straps to hold it down. The ones designed to hold it down are easy to identify: they're the thick ones that go all the way over the bag. The other 6 do not go all the way over the bag, and so using them to secure the bag to your roof would risk ripping the bag where the straps attach -- maybe not immediately, but over time. The reason people think you're supposed to use 6 straps to hold it down is that it comes with two extra things that are used to attach the straps to your vehicle, in case you lose some (ie. 6 instead of just that 4 that you need.) 2) It does NOT depend velcro to hold the bag to your car roof. Unfortunately, since there are no instructions to explain how to use it, you might guess incorrectly that that's how it works. It would be difficult to describe without graphics how to attach the bag, so what I'll do is recommend that you watch the manufacturer's video. If I hadn't come back to the sales page and watched the video, I don't think I would have figured out how to do it in a million years. But once you see it, it's simple enough -- you attach 4 of the things they give you 6 of to the vehicle, then unbuckle the buckles on the big straps, pass them through the loops on the 4...things, buckle them back up again, and then tighten down the big straps. 3) The purpose of the velcro that at least one reviewer thought was supposed to secure the bag to your vehicle is to secure the loose ends of the straps to the straps so that they don't flap around in the wind. This is actually a pretty nice feature. So, now that you have instructions :-), I'd say this cargo carrier gets 4 stars out of 5. But the instructions really out to be in the package, not hidden away in some online review! ... show more

  • Worth It!
Size: 20 Cubic Feet - Black
Great product for the price. The amount of storage was insane. Two large suit cases, two small, three back packs and a duffle bad- still had tons of room. I read in another review that they used ratchet straps, I did not. Just the anti slip pad and the 4 main buckles did perfectly fine. Didn’t move an inch! Also rained a bit, nothing got wet. 800 miles to Washington DC and back no issues at all. Would recommend! ... show more

  • Completely Unsafe
Was fully prepared to use this on a long road trip, but the second we took it out of the packaging we were immediately less than sure of how this was going to stay attached to our roof. You’re basically attaching luggage to the roof of your car and depending on 4 strips of velcro to hold up for hours upon hours. There was no way I was going to let a gust of wind take this off the top of the car and potentially put other drivers at risk. And forget it if it rains, it would slip and slide all over the place. If I could give this negative stars I would, completely and horribly unsafe not only for you but those who didn’t ask to be put in harms way. ... show more

  • Adequate - major flaws, but it works fine I guess
Size: 20 Cubic Feet
The product itself is pretty fine. Without a roof rack, you basically pull off the weather striping which makes me uneasy (no problems yet) and put it back on over a hook that leverages the edge of your roof where the car doors close. If you DONT have a full haul, the straps get tricky because it wants to leave slack… spent entirely too much time on that given I only have 10-12 inches of items vertically. The Velcro feels sturdy but… I think we could have found a more trusting system than that. Oh, and the lock is best thrown away. I got it open once, reset the code and never got it back open… not concerned about theft so much so I’ll zip tie it for the drive but would recommend getting another lock that both works and can’t just be broken open with the light squeeze of some pliers. anyway, about to head out, will report back if I lose it on the highway - otherwise the product didn’t ruin my vacation yet if that helps! ... show more

  • Tons of Space and Truly Weatherproof!
This weatherproof rooftop bag is a total game changer for road trips! It easily held 3 carry-ons, 4 backpacks, blankets, and we still had room for a few extra items. The material is durable and kept everything completely dry, even through heavy rain. It straps securely to the roof and didn’t budge the whole drive. If you need extra storage for your car, this bag is a must-have — spacious, sturdy, and totally weatherproof! ... show more
