Purchasing a bed without trying it out is a gamble, but it worked out in my case. I don't suffer from back pain, so I can't comment on that aspect. I mainly sleep on my stomach, so I figured a somewhat firmer mattress would work well, and was correct. It's also perfectly comfortable for me on my back and side. It has just enough cushion above the springs that I never feel uncomfortable pressure. It's somewhat bouncy due to the springs. I think the designation as "medium firm" is accurate, but most of the firmness is provided by the springs. I think this might be a problem for heavier people, since they'd probably sink right through the foam and feel like they're on an old-fashioned spring mattress. My only complaint is that the head and foot of the bed haven't fully risen yet, and I'm not confident that they ever will (the difference is about 0.5"). This doesn't affect the comfort for me since that's where the pillow is. I should also note that even the center of the bed is 11.5" rather than 12". Hopefully it rises more over time, but for me it's not a big deal either way. Ultimately I find this far more comfortable than the cheap, soft, saggy memory foam mattress that it replaced, and would recommend it to other ~200lb stomach sleepers that don't want to fork over $800+ for a new mattress. ... show more

I really needed a new mattress, and wanted the support of an inner spring mattress with the cushioning of a memory foam mattress. I have chronic joint pain and neuropathy from an autoimmune condition, so a good mattress is a must. I picked this one because of the marriage of mattress types I wanted, and because of the side support. My first night sleeping on this mattress was a little iffy if I was going to like it, but every night since has been amazing. I sleep close to the edge, and feared rolling out with my old mattress because the sides collapsed so easily. This mattress keeps the edge supported. I’ve seen people asking if the side stays stiff when getting up. It does go down like any mattress if you are sitting or push off the edge, but it does give support when sleeping on the edge. ... show more

I bought the queen size version of this mattress for a guest room. I've slept on it a few times and have now had guests sleep on it. Our opinions are overall positive. I'm also using a full mattress encasement and quality sheet set on top an Amazon box spring. Pros: Comes in a box and is easy to move to the room where it belongs. It unpacks and inflates quickly. The mattress has a nice plush feel to it that is less firm than some other mattresses I evaluated. The gel foam top doesn't get hot overnight, and the springs provide comfortable support. Definitely good for side and back sleeping! Cons: There is no side support anywhere so the edge of the bed sinks and bulges easily. You can feel the springs through the sides. Normally I'd take off a star for this, but it's ok for the price I paid. For the price I paid, I'm happy with this purchase. It competes -- in terms of comfort -- with a King Koil mattress that was significantly more expensive. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My husband was skeptical about having a mattress delivered in a box, but it’s actually so comfortable!! We both love it! We got the hybrid 12” memory foam with cool gel, and its perfect if you don’t like to sink into your mattress, but you don’t want to lay stiff either.
