I was looking for a solution to help me build a pergola for the patio. I found these and couldn't be more pleased. They came nicely packaged and seem well built. I used nominal 4"x4" cedar posts and they fit perfectly. The screw holes to attach to the 4x4s were a small for my liking so I used a Step bit to modify the screw holes to accept a larger wood screw I wanted to use. I put up two pergolas with these, and while they're not as good looking as the more popular brand, they also cost a pittance comparatively. No one is staring at your support brackets anyway, so just use these, they're solid and sturdy.

For the price, these are great. Once you anchor everything in and put in support braced, it's very sturdy. I got these for 4x4 posts because I was going to be by myself. This pair of brackets are good quality and sturdy but won’t necessarily make a project easier. The fit is tight and needed to be hammered with a mallet to fit a standard 4x4 so keep this is mind for project plans. The holes of the top angel brackets are wider than 4x4 so can’t be used on stand alone structure without adding a 6” or larger board (see photo) ... show more
